  1. Chattahoochee also had a licensing test prep course that came free with the pre-license test. I felt sure I would pass the tests to get out of the class and to get my license but I ran out of time. I was facing two deadlines--one for getting out of the class (I studied at my own pace which turned out to be a little slow) and I had surgery coming up and had to finish everything before I would be out of commission for six weeks. By the time I had the surgery, the real estate market collapsed and I was actually glad I hadn't taken the licensing test and then had a meaningless piece of paper.
  2. I would think the traffic cameras would be helpful.
  3. I had the flu in 1989 or 1990. Except for one year, about four or five years ago, I have had the flu shot every year since and will get one every year. After the 4 hours I spent in the Cobb ER on December 5 and then the 12 hours I spent at Kennestone, part of which was spent in the outpatient surgery waiting room on December 6, I was thankful I had had the flu shot. Seemed like every person in the ER that day, with the exception of me and my husband, were there for the flu.
  4. My mom refused to allow me to go see "The Illustrated Man" which I so badly wanted to see. I'm now 58 and have yet to defy my mom by watching that movie. I so want to see it one day. But she did take me to see Dr. Zhivago when I was 13 or so, I guess. That and Gone With The Wind, back to back. Went to the Belmont Theater at Belmont Hills.
  5. Hmmmm. I have a friend who is a vendor for numerous hospitals, doctors offices, vets, chiropractors and even a prison. He has never said that any of the hospitals where he works have required him or his co-workers to have flu shots. He usually gets one simply because he is around patients and employees but nobody has required him be immunized. I can see requiring those in direct patient care, or even direct patient contact such as registrars but vendors is going a bit far.
  6. I went through Chattahoochee Tech. Not sure they still offer the course but you can check with them. I think it was through the continuing ed department. When I did this, back in 2007, there were tons of online courses. I think most of them have gone the same way the real estate market has--away. Can't help you on a brokerage to work for. I know a couple of brokers and several agents but actually can't recommend or warn against any of them. The agent we had listed our house with is now with Keller Williams on Dallas Highway. I CAN advise you to talk to the brokers before you
  7. I worked at a theater during the showing of that and have yet to see it. I could have seen it for free.
  8. I absolutely LOVED "Giant". I tried reading the book but it just wasn't the same. But the movie was awesome. I'd love to see it again.
  9. Ahhh. Smyrna Drive In. What memories! I saw "A Fistful of Dollars" and "For a Few Dollars More" there. And I think that's where we took our girls to see "The Empire Strikes Back". Good times.
  10. I'm the same way about The Godfather. Didn't care for what I saw of the first one, why waste my time on part 2 or 3. Like AGG, I never saw Sixteen Candles. I only saw part of "Grease". I guess I was just out of the age bracket these were geared to. My two oldest daughters probably saw them, I know the oldest one saw "Grease" because I STILL have the soundtrack album.
  11. They actually work quite well, I think. I must have signed up not realizing that they would adjust in 3 months or however long it was (it wasn't long, I remember that). But I LOVE the budget bill. Never have to wonder, much.
  12. We haven't had any issues either. Just never knew exactly when the budget bill was due to be adjusted. It was quite a shock to send them the usual amount one month and find out it had doubled! YIKES!
  13. Of the 100 top "classic" movies according to AFI, I have not yet seen these: #5--Lawrence of Arabia #12--Sunset Blvd. #13--Bridge on the River Kwai #19--Chinatown #24--Raging Bull #31--Annie Hall #32--The Godfather Part II #37--The Best Years of Our Lives #46--A Clockwork Orange #47--Taxi Driver #53--Amadeus #68--An American In Paris #70--The French Connection #74--The Gold Rush #95--Pulp Fiction Nor have I seen more than a couple of minutes of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Didn't care for it. And I didn't see these before I got to where I couldn't sit still to watch a
  14. That's kind of the same kind of budget bill I did with the utilities in our rental house. I always sent in more than the bill, so that if the bill was adjusted, there should be enough to cover it. I never knew exactly when Georgia Power was going to change the budget bill amount.
  15. Actually, they are pleased with their neighbor, Plant Bowen.
  16. Considering that my daughter (or I) pay roughly $20 a month to Georgia Power for "fees" on top of the power bill itself, $3 a month is pocket change.
  17. I have a cousin who lives in sight of Plant Bowen. They have lived there for a good number of years now. They have had no problems.
  18. And that is why I believe we have such a problem with guns now. They ARE a forbidden fruit and nobody is taught to respect them and how to use them properly. We taught our girls, now 42, 39 and 32, to respect the firearms we had in the house. If they wanted to see one, or even to shoot one, just ask dad. He would be happy to take them out to shoot. None of them really did after they were about 9 or 10. He took each of them out at least once before that. In fact, our youngest got to shoot out back of our shop on County Line Road. She must have been 8 at the time. She loved it but
  19. Are you sure that wasn't your wife's resolution for you? BTW, Happy New Year! One cannot make their community better until they are better. I hope 2012 was the year to make oneself better and 2013 is the year to make the community better. Bewbie hugs to you my friend!!
  20. My mom always carried a revolver in her purse. My dad always had shotguns, rifles and handguns. My oldest sister always carried a revolver and had one in her store. I was shooting guns almost as early as I was driving, which would have been 8 or 9. Yes, I was driving that young but it was a tractor and I drove to my grandmother's house around the corner. Before they built the condos through the swamp from my house, we could go out back of the house and shoot. I could hit the O in Prestone every time with a .22 rifle. Every New Year's my dad would go out front and shoot two rou
  21. Because the members are the customers. Greystone is not a publicly owned corporation such as GM or even Georgia Power. It's owned by the members.
  22. Yes, that is quite true. If someone shoots a deer and it runs on to your property, they can enter your property to retrieve it. When we had 25 acres out in southern Douglas County, one of the neighbors would deer hunt out back of his house. He tracked one to our property but before he set foot over there he called to make sure we knew just in case WE were out there trying to hunt, too. But we told him that it was fine with us to go over there without calling because he was well within his rights to do so. He said he knew that just wanted to be neighborly and warn us that he was there. Be
  23. Some of the firecrackers I am hearing sound like thunder. BIG firecrackers apparently.
