  1. I've seen one house being built in the last three weeks, so yeah. I saw none last year during this same time period. There really needs to be fewer existing homes for sale before construction picks up.
  2. Tell me how the market doing well is going to impact my clients when they can't pay their bills or worse yet, their bookkeeper? How is the market doing well going to help a business collect money from a vendor when the vendor has filed for bankruptcy? How is the market doing well going to keep homeowners in their homes when they don't have jobs? How is the market doing well going to help people who have lost their homes to foreclosure? I can tell you. It won't help any of them. That's not to say I'm not glad the market is doing well. I am. I'm thrilled. FYI, I
  3. Amen to that!! They are indeed brutal on small and medium sized businesses. Seems a lot worse than it used to be, too.
  4. Jobs could come back in, particularly in certain sectors such as construction and related industries or in manufacturing. Businesses could be hiring right and left instead of hanging on by a thread to the employees they have. Wages could be going up instead of staying stagnant. The job growth could actually be in better paying jobs than retail or low paying service jobs. Consumers and businesses could have confidence enough in the economy to actually let loose of some money. I don't know about you, but I hesitate over spending anything unless absolutely necessary and I cringe when I have
  5. Really? The concept of not being able to hire because you're barely able to keep your current employees working is "too many factors to take into account"? If you're facing the prospect of closing your doors or laying people off the LAST thing you need to do is hire more people. The current occupant of the White House has nothing to do with that. The current state of the economy DOES.
  6. Really. I can't say that I blame them. Not one bit. WHY hire someone when you are barely able to keep your current employees working?
  7. Sounds about right. They know, as do a lot of other people, that things won't get better for a few years. They are just willing to state it out loud. Good for them!
  8. You would need to see the revised numbers for the prior two months (November and December) for it to make sense. If then. And that's not to say you can't understand it. It's just that NOBODY can understand their goobly gook. Keep in mind these are just PRELIMINARY numbers. Until the unemployment tax returns are processed nothing can be certain.
  9. I hope to make it to see you soon! I went back and looked at several different charts and there was virtually no difference in the numbers when comparing seasonally adjusted and non-seasonally adjusted rates.
  10. So it wasn't just me who thought that?? BTW, I saw a tag that said "BeachBm1". It wasn't from Georgia so I didn't think it was you. Made me think of you, though!
  11. I thought that would be factored into the "seasonally adjusted" figure but I also thought that today's report was MINUS the seasonally adjusted figure and was the actual unemployment rate.
  12. Liberal jibberish? I want an explanation of how it's better. I think a lot of other people do as well.
  13. The REALITY of the situation is that unemployment was up in January over November and December. Up, as in MORE people were losing their jobs. There was a gain of 157,000 jobs. But one particular segment of the work force lost 19,000 jobs. ONE job description in fact. Not a segment like construction or retail. ONE JOB DESCRIPTION! In 2012, employment grew at the average rate of 181,000 a month. So, explain to me EXACTLY how a gain of 157,000 is better than the average rate for last year. EXACTLY how it is better. No smoke and mirrors. Spell it out. How is this better? Kee
  14. The news media is hailing the bus driver as a hero. He truly was a hero, too. While he could not stop the kidnapping, he did everything he could to prevent it. The reports say the man is not harming the child. http://www.weartv.com/newsroom/top_stories/videos/wear_hostage-standoff-enters-3rd-full-day-28762.shtml
  15. There's another "house of representatives"? I thought in jolly ol' Great Britain, it was the house of Commons.
  16. Yep. I'm sure it is. Remember when Go Blue said that his increase in insurance premiums was a decrease because it was a smaller than expected increase? It's what liberals do to make what they say make sense....to them at least I guess. Not to anyone who has half a brain. The thing is, if unemployment is rising and the percentage of long term unemployed is 40%, that means there are a lot of people who are no longer counted as unemployed because they fell off the roster. If you only get unemployment now for 26 weeks, and "long term unemployment" means six months, guess what, that's th
  17. I had a job when Bush left office. My son in law had a job when Bush left office. Unfortunately, due to the downturn in the economy and particularly the construction section, both my son in law and myself lost our jobs in 2009. He has bounced back and forth between Waffle House cook/server, cab driver and now stock clerk. He was unemployed almost the entire time my daughter was pregnant the last time. He kept plugging away putting in applications everywhere he could WALK to (because they don't have a car). Finally got a job 6/10 of a mile from home. And he LOVES the job, even if it
  18. Yep. Here's a link to a chart (I know TP is fond of those): http://data.bls.gov/...ies/LNS14000000
  19. My mom smoked a cigarette prior to walking in to see the hypnotist. She never again smoked but like you said about yourself, she was ready. My hubby quit cold turkey.
  20. We're not going to let the truth get in the way, are we? I mean EVERYTHING is looking up, right?
  21. Butterscotch!! That's it. Almost a clove smell, to me at least.
  22. Oh gawd!! I can still smell that squirrel that died in the attic over my daughter's bedroom. That was at least 13/14 years ago.
  23. I haven't a clue what flavor it was. Maybe the person who was vaping it will chime in what flavor it was.

Payroll people aren't perfect. I myself made a mistake on a paycheck many moons ago. Bad thing is it was mine. I didn't do that a second time, though.
