  1. They are free to believe what they want to believe. I do not have the power or authority to judge them. None of us do. It's between them and their conscience. And believe it or not, the sentence likely would not have been more severe in this country. That's not to say that it was a horrible thing for her to endure and the man should have been hanged publically.
  2. I was feeling feisty last night.
  3. That's the thing. Anything can be explained with "rationale". Even idiotic things. If the news media says it's OK, it's OK. If the President says it's OK, it's OK. If the PTA says it's OK, it's OK. Folks, it's NOT OK for the schools to make money off the people who are already paying the bill. When my kids were in school, I absolutely, positively refused to take part in fundraisers. I was already paying school taxes on two pieces of property and saw no reason to hit my friends and family up for more money. Speaking of property taxes, I feel naked. I only own one propert
  4. Many of the suggestions that cptlo posted have been tried in years past and have worked. Lower taxes for everyone, particularly if taxes were lowered on interest earned, would stimulate investing, which we all know Rockysmom is all excited about the stock market being up. Imagine if you could earn that interest or that dividend and not have to pay taxes on it. Investments would be through the roof! Fewer regulations on business would stimulate business growth. Can you imagine what would happen if businesses didn't need to employ a whole department full of people whose SOLE job was
  5. Why should the school have to MAKE ANYTHING? Aren't school taxes and other fundraisers enough? Maybe instead of selling junk food to the kids, whether it be granola bars or candy bars, there need to be cutbacks elsewhere like in administrator salaries.
  6. I know a couple of great real estate agents. If you're more interested in Paulding, I know a couple there and if you're more interested in Cobb or Douglas, I know some there, too. Take it from someone who has been shopping for a house for a long time (I won't tell you how long because I don't want to frighten you), but get to know the area before you buy. When you go to look at houses, talk to the neighbors and DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Check the Census Bureau and crime reports. You can check both according to address even, so you can find out what the neighbors might not be willing to tell yo
  7. I have lived in Cobb County all of my life, which has been a good while now, and that was the first blizzard I had ever seen. We had some big snow or ice storms in March but no other blizzards. That was a freak storm system. Where you looking for a house?
  8. While I have no problem with my clients thinking I'm eccentric, I don't want them thinking I am friggin' nuts. If I told them they lost a million and a half dollar but it was actually a gain, they would know I was friggin' nuts. My clients are smarter than to believe that BS.
  9. That's exactly what my husband did recently. They had no problem explaining to him what they were doing there nor did they have a problem explaining to the cute police officer what they were doing there. It appeared to be legit, They were ON the property behind us, a foreclosed house, near dark. The only thing I can't figure out is why home break ins in our area stopped after that. There had been over 2 dozen in a very short period of time. There has not been one single break in since that. I'm sure it was coincidence that the break ins stopped after the cops came out to talk to th
  10. She posted the link in reply #13. I warn you, she may make you develop a craving for tortilla chips and 8 layer dip.
  11. And you would be charged with at least assault. If they are not on your property, they are in public.
  12. Now you've done it!! I now have a craving for 8 layer dip! I guess I have some other things to add to my shopping list. When I have time, I'm going to go read the whole blog.
  13. Could you provide a link to it? Maybe by PM if you don't want to do it publically. And that's awesome!! You and my daughter should get together and compare notes. It sounds like you're doing very similar things. She's lost over 160 pounds.
  14. There are always a lot of seasonal jobs added in November. Let me explain something. I am THRILLED that jobs are being added. Overjoyed in fact. I think it is awesome. But it's a far cry from being the way it should be. It's an improvement, absolutely and positively. But if there are millions lost and only a couple of hundred thousand added, that is still a net loss. If I tried to tell a client that they lost over a million dollars but it really was a gain, they would not see that as a gain and would fire my ass.
  15. Once 4th quarter unemployment tax returns are processed even that number could change. If they are even used in determining how many people are actually working.
  16. I'm reserving judgment about the actual number of people working until all the state unemployment agencies have received and reported unemployment tax returns for fourth quarter. Otherwise, everything is just a shot in the dark. I've been technically unemployed for three years but not one single time in that three years has anyone called to do a household survey to see who among the members of my household are working, not working and looking for work or retired. In fact, I can't think of anyone who has EVER received a call like that. How can the numbers be correct for the "household su
  17. The U.S. economy lost 2.8 million jobs jobs in January. There is a 90 percent chance that the U.S. economy added somewhere between 65,000 and 249,000 jobs in January, after adjusting for seasonal fluctuations. There is a 10 percent chance that the U.S. actually added fewer than 65,000 jobs or more than 249,000 jobs during the month. What's to be "explained"? How this HUGE discrepancy, which is in the millions, is a gain.
  18. That or they go down my shirt and I'm having to dance around to get the granola out of my bra! And I can't dance. Trust me on that.
  19. You eat like my daughter. She has 3 meals plus 3 snacks every single day. She eats about every 3 hours. They all do. She and her husband have lost over 200 pounds combined in the last 3 years. The little ones are in the upper percentiles of where they should be and neither have an ounce of extra fat on them. But let me tell you, that Starr is like her Nana and she gets really grumpy if she's hungry.
  20. I didn't see a vending machine in school until I entered tech school. I spent all my money on Zero bars and Pepsi's. But I also weighed 118 pounds and was active.
  21. BY FAR a better choice? Hardly. Nature Valley Oats and Honey granola bar: nutrition grade C+ Marathon Nutrition Dark Chocolate Crunch nutrition grade A Oh, and the Marathon bar is bigger than the granola bar.
  22. Again, if it can be seen from the street, it is not private and you should not expect privacy. Should they walk up to your windows, point their camera inside and start taking pictures, then you have a problem. Otherwise, absolutely nothing illegal about it and while you can ASK them to leave, since the street does not belong to you, they are under no obligation to do so.
  23. MOST granola is very high in fat, much of it saturated fat. Wonder which granola manufacturer paid the USDA this time?
