Milton is wonderful!!!!!!!!! The people are super, super nice and friendly. The town is easy to get around, as long as you know highway 87, highway 89 and highway 90. Navarre Beach is probably the most beautiful beach in the US (at least IMO). We have a number of friends down there now, from the 20+ years of going and especially from the past 3 years staying there while we look for a house in Milton. I told my husband, I wanted to name this house Seventh Heaven. It's the seventh house we had made an offer on.

We're in Milton, which is about 20 miles east of Pensacola. It's a good hard half hour ride to our favorite beach, Navarre Beach, but we don't mind the ride. The house is really coming along. We've been cleaning since Friday morning. Of course, 9 p.m. comes and we're exhausted and ready for bed! So far we (or my husband) has fixed the kitchen faucet (it leaked like Old Faithful), the kitchen sprayer, the stove, two toilets, two bathroom sinks, hauled out a room full of carpet, scrubbed the kitchen floor and the laundry/utility room floor, cleaned two bathrooms, vacuumed the house

Real Estate Agents and Pictures
Mama Carol replied to its mr sarcastic to you's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The house we just bought had two sets of pictures--one before the furniture was sold at an estate sale and one after. And the agent claimed that they were all taken at the same time. Ummmmm, -
We're getting a queen, firm Serta mattress and foundation tomorrow. Too darn tired to do it after closing today. That will be in the guest bedroom once we get our furniture down. Don't want to get rid of you!! Just be warned if you and our former boss showed up at the same time, you'd be sleeping on the floor.

The obstacles have been beyond frustrating. We were driving back from the closing and we both said we were actually glad it took this long. We know the town VERY well now, something we didn't know three years ago. We aren't glad about all the frustration, but we are glad we have learned our way around down here. Knowing our way around the town makes us more confident in the area we are in. We had learned the areas to avoid. EVERYWHERE we go people are friendly and happy to talk to you. They'll just open up and tell you their life story if you're not careful. I ho

Well, it took three years, seven houses, two agents, countless sleepless nights and a river of tears but we FINALLY did it! We got a house in Florida!!!! We closed on this afternoon. We're beat, we're excited and even though we still have to move, we feel like the worst part is over. This is a day we were beginning to think we would never, ever see. In fact, at the closing we weren't sure it was going to happen even! We changed agents back in June. We made an offer on one house in January which was "declined" and then the offer on this house on February 9. It was a little bit

I think that is the old rule. The new rule is one. FWIW, it drives me nuts and I still put two,

BEST way to go. Owe them about $100. Forget refunds. Put that money in your pocket all year long, not just once a year.

Real Estate/Land Lot Question

It's a lot different if you're looking at a quarter acre lot vs an acre lot. -
Real Estate/Land Lot Question
Mama Carol replied to its mr sarcastic to you's topic in RECENT TOPICS
If you're going to build the house pretty much centered on the entire lot, you're not going to have to worry about the setbacks. If the house would fit on one lot, it will fit on the combined lots if it's centered. -
I have a friend battling thyroid cancer for either the third or fourth time. It would be interesting to know if she has downed a lot of Gatorade through the years. I know she was very active in softball since about the age of 8 (she's now 42).

I seem to recall a local (by local, I mean local to me here in Cobb County in the Province of Georgia) bar that got into trouble because they bought their booze from a nearby liquor store as opposed to a distributor. Seems they ran short due to a larger than anticipated crowd and sent someone down to the the corner liquor store to buy what they needed. I don't remember if just their distributor got their undies in a huge wad or if the state got theirs in a wad. I do remember that it caused problems for them. Again, that "cartel".

Real Estate/Land Lot Question
Mama Carol replied to its mr sarcastic to you's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Call Tibbitts. They can tell you how to go about combining the lots with a survey. Our lots were in Florida, so it may be a little different there, but it was just a matter of resurveying and recording that plat to show it was now one parcel. We were going to do the same thing for the same reason. It just looked better to center the house on the lot. We sold the lots and now there is a house on each lot. We never got around to resurveying. -
I heard about the BVO on Dr Oz a few weeks ago. Scary to think that "health/sports" drinks contain a banned ingredient!

Real Estate/Land Lot Question
Mama Carol replied to its mr sarcastic to you's topic in RECENT TOPICS
We bought adjoining lots on which to build a house. It wasn't really going to be a big deal to make it one lot. I think all that was required was a re-survey and recording that as the new lot. Or you can always leave it as two lots which are sold as one parcel. If you have Lot A and Lot B and build the house on Lot A, no problem. If you build on Lot B, no problem. You probably would want to combine them if you built the house straddling Lots A and B (that is what we were going to do). -
Gee, my bad. I should have specified that. I'll know next time. And Florida is a state, too. Silly me. Most people on Pcom are from Paulding County. I keep forgetting you live elsewhere. So, can they ship out of the country? I'll be glad when my second home is further away than four miles.
-
Ahhhhhhh. Not all wineries can ship it. Gotcha'.
-
I thought there were laws to prevent shipment of alcohol into Georgia.

Would like to grow my own seedlings this year

Yep, you needed them started already but it's not too late by any means. As long as you get them started by the end of March you'll be fine. No need to start the squash or cukes as you can do them from seeds in the ground when the ground warms up. Same thing with the corn, though it would give you a little earlier crop to start it now and then transplant it. Tomatoes are easy to start from seed. Go to Dollar General and get some of the Styrofoam cups and then go to a garden supply or Home Depot or even Walmart to get Miracle Grow potting soil. I'd get a good brand of seed--Burpee, -
I had some friends whose house was broken into. In addition to food, some homemade wine and a little bit of cash, the thieves got ........ are you ready for this? Toilet paper. Fortunately, the friends had the guns locked up in a gun safe and the important papers in a safe attached to the basement floor. Only cash was a few rolls of coins they had out.
-
Nope, just a little strange. But a friend of mine might have the idea that he was a pest of some type.

My husband is probably my best friend. Sorry New Attitude

It gets better. At least in my case, it did.

Just a thought but if the soon-to-be-ex isn't the father of the 15 year old, he can't take her where he wants to regardless of her age. He has no authority to do that. Same goes for any of the others that he isn't the father of, unless he legally adopted them, in which case it's a whole new ballgame.

I just about spewed my beer when I read what this said. I used to know an Alan Henderson.
