I will. Getting rid of that computer is pretty low on the priority list right now. The main thing was making sure I could disconnect the modem from it so I can move things around. I'll be happy when everything is in one STATE. Hubby wanted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich the other night. I told him I couldn't make one because the peanut butter, the jelly and the bread were at the other house. And last night he was down there but his pillows were still here. We forgot to put them in the truck.

I believe it was mentioned on here a couple of years ago when someone got their undies all in a knot because a police officer didn't offer them a ride home when they had car trouble and the officer told them it was against department policy. The police are not a taxi service. You want a ride home, call a friend or family member or call a cab. Oh, they aren't mechanics either. If your car breaks down, call a mechanic. I still wonder if the OP will come on here and update us on what happened afterwards. I do think it's interesting that on his FB page "recent activity" shows he recomme

If only!! Where IS the sofa, BTW? Is it here or at the other house?

Thanks. That's what I thought but right now my brain is befuddled and I'm doing good to remember my name.

My Internet connection/modem/router was initially setup through my desktop computer. That computer died a slow painful death last summer. I'm getting ready to move and was going to toss the CPU. Can I just unplug my modem/router from the CPU since that unit is dead anyway?

Why is this in the Animal House forum?
-
Yeah, 35 years. In some ways it seems like forever and in some ways it seems like a couple of weeks. We're not big on celebrations so we just went for barbecue yesterday. Then we came home and loaded up the truck for him to make a trip to the other house.

Ah yeah, the abuse of the mentally ill is right up there with Sunday liquor sales.
-
If I remember correctly about my daughter's neighbor, it was a family member who actually reported the abuse after the victim told them about it. I've tried to find the news story about it but can't.

WOW!!! The last time I did MT the pay was about 12-14 cpl, depending on the specialty. I never liked doing it on a computer, either. I like to see the finished product and to touch it. I'm definitely old, old, OLD school--White Out, carbon paper, etc. I did do MT using WP for about two years but hated it. When an office note I transcribed from an orthopaedist who was dictating about a hand was returned to me by the MTSO asking me to correct "metacarpal" and make it "metatarsal" AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE (her words), I took all of her stuff back and told her she needed to learn the bo

LR, this is all too common in mental health personal care homes. WAY too common. My daughter's neighbor ran two such homes in Austell. One was licensed by the state and the other was not. The owner would shuttle residents between the two. One morning about 4 1/2 years ago my daughter walked into her kitchen and looked out the window to see the street filled with police cars, official looking state cars, the news media. Seems as though someone had been abused and had the audacity to report it. Most of the people who are mentally ill won't report abuse, particularly in homes such as

Hey!!! A fellow former MT. Boy, that industry just about died, didn't it? A VA might work for Charli. Good suggestion.

There are actually several of them, both licensed and unlicensed. Two of them are close to me. The one where this abuse happened is right around the corner from my house. I don't personally know the owner but do know of her. She's been a fixture in Powder Springs for several years. I think at one time she ran for city council. There are more residential mental health/personal care homes around than you would ever imagine! I can name four that I can drive by in a matter of minutes.

What's funny is when I see Pcommers pop up in the box that says "people you may know". They know my Pcom name but they don't know my real name. I'm quite sure some of them wouldn't want to be my FB friend.

Life Grocery is located at 1453 Roswell Road, Marietta, Ga 30062. http://www.lifegrocery.com/retailer/store_templates/shell_id_1.asp?storeID=FCURUEAS61S92NM700AKHLBD3C4A30TE They have been around for years and years. Largest "health" and natural food store in Cobb for many, many years. Their quality is superb. They also have books on health, nutrition and cooking with natural foods. What's wrong with East Cobb? Traffic. I hate traffic. I don't do traffic. I avoid traffic if at all possible. Hence, moving to a small town with easy to navigate road -

I have varied experience. I used to do anything to pay the bills. The health food store was one of my favorite jobs. I loved our customers and the owners. -

My sister has shopped them all and loves Life Grocery best of all even though you didn't include them. Since you're talking East Cobb, Life is in the same general area as Whole Foods. She joined some kind of "rewards" program at Life and apparently they have sales of particular items on particular days. I avoid East Cobb like the plague, so they would have to pay me to go shopping anywhere east of the Marietta square. Me, I don't care one way or the other since "organic" foods are not necessarily better for you than those that are not grown or produced organically. They often are but -
As is the fight against age discrimination. Employers DO discriminate against you if you're over 50. It's a fact.

My days in this area are numbered and that number is looking a lot like 10. I'm offloading obligations here now. Sorry Pubster. One interview I went on, the interviewer had gotten questions from some hiring site. They were obviously geared more toward the......well, shall we say.....younger job candidate. At least he had the decency to know how to rephrase the question.

I have to agree with this. Not long after I joined FB I sent a friend request to an old boyfriend. Basically, hi, how you been doing the last 30 years, love to hear about you through your sister but it would be nice to occasionally hear from you personally. We have become better friends than we ever were when we dated. We had a lot of the same experiences in high school, where we went together and knew each other slightly. We have had some of the same life experiences. I LOVE his mom and dad and the rest of his family. And he's been very supportive during the past three years during our

Absolute strangers sending you friend requests? I must not be popular because I have never gotten one from a total stranger. A friend of a friend yes but a stranger, no. Besides, has anyone ever heard of NO? Why constantly update? Maybe I'm missing something here. Perhaps one of my 68 FB friends (many of whom are Pcommers) can tell what I'm missing.
-
If it hadn't been for FB, I would not have known that a fellow Pcommer was someone I knew years ago when she was a kid. I had NO idea of that because we had never really "talked" about where we lived in the past. When her name popped up on the "suggested friends" list the first day I was on FB, I almost fell out of my chair. I had her e-mail address in my address book because we had e-mailed each other, in addition to sending PMs. There on the suggested friends list was her name, including her maiden name that I did know. If it hadn't been for FB, I wouldn't have reconnected with a l

Did you list your workplace?

Yep, he says the house is my anniversary present and not to expect anything else. Again. Ever.

$19.95 a month for AT&T DSL. And obviously paying way too much for what I'm getting. Looking forward to the hotspot at 3.1 mbps and about $12 a month.
