  1. It's a shame that some people just don't understand satire and humor.
  2. Doing your own taxes can be risky. You have to be careful and make sure that EVERY number entered is correct. And don't do the return and e-file at the same time. Do the return, save it and then go back and double check everything the next day. And the next, just to make sure everything is correct. Don't hurry them. Better to take your time and do it correctly the first time than to wait weeks for a refund or have to file an amended return. I really have to question the paper check over the direct deposit. If the information entered for the direct deposit is correct, this is always
  3. Can you ask them what information seems to be entered wrong?
  4. I'll mail the feds their $98 on April 15. I broke even with the state. That's the way I like to do it!
  5. We used to tease my nephew that he liked his steaks so rare that you just trotted the cow close to the fire. And not too close, at that.
  6. We had a client whose birthday was wrong in the SS system. To save time, we simply changed his birthday to what SSA had it and filed the return. Then he went and got it straightened out. So, if you have a mismatch on name or SS# and can get them to tell you what THEY have, simply change it to that, file the return and THEN make the change before you file next year.
  7. Oh hell yeah! I want my food cooked unless it is supposed to be uncooked like raw veggies. There is a reason caveman discovered fire. He didn't like steak tartare.
  8. IF you have entered information wrong, it will have to be manually processed. How did you file electronically if something was entered wrong? Was it as simple as an account number was entered wrong? Otherwise, names and SS#s are verified before it is accepted. It won't be accepted if those are wrong.
  9. BMI is a useful measure of overweight and obesity. It is calculated from your height and weight. BMI is an estimate of body fat and a good gauge of your risk for diseases that can occur with more body fat. The higher your BMI, the higher your risk for certain diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, gallstones, breathing problems, and certain cancers. Although BMI can be used for most men and women, it does have some limits: It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others who have a muscular build. It may underestimate body fat in older persons and o
  10. The IRS website is telling you that you entered information wrong? I've never known it do that before. They must have upgraded the system.
  11. Are you checking the IRS website? No other website can give you accurate information.
  12. I've been anorexic and I'm currently overweight. I'll take being overweight any day over being anorexic.
  13. My husband has the same thing--the GAD. He doesn't seem to worry as much as he overthinks things. Mine would say the same thing about marriage.
  14. You should change your name from Captain Oblivious to Captain Obvious. You are absolutely correct!!! Stressing over anything is worse than the actual thing. My aunt was a worrier until she got older and realized that most of the time she worried for nothing. Don't worry about those few extra pounds. Stay active, eat right and you'll be much better off in the long run.
  15. Maybe he liked your car. People have taken pictures of my husband's car before.
  16. That's my problem. I should be around 6 ft tall. I'm 5 ft 6. Darn genes!!
  17. When are we, as a country, going to stop seeing fat people as ALWAYS unhealthy? When we are going to start realizing that muscle weighs more than fat and if you're muscular you are going to have a higher BMI. I guess it all boils down to "policy". Like zero tolerance of violence and kicking kids out of school who try to STOP fights or violence. Or zero tolerance and kicking kids out of school because they bring a keychain to school that could be considered a weapon. I guess my husband couldn't set foot on a school campus because his cane could be considered a weapon (he actually
  18. I realized yesterday afternoon that I never set the clock in a room we rarely go into. Now I don't have to! It will be right again. Lesson learned a few years ago. Don't go into another time zone the night the time changes, especially the fall time change. Screws you up royally.
  19. Actually, that's just a watch. No severe thunderstorms spotted, so no warning. Just the potential for them.
  20. Those trees are a crop. That provides jobs. The paper made from those trees is manufactured in a paper mill and converted in a converting plant. That process requires people working jobs. Those are some of the best paying jobs in the US. Do we really want to go digital? Sorry, but the paper industry is a passion of mine. Paid our bills for 20+ years.
  21. It's not just AT&T and comcast who have terrible service. I had what appeared to be two charges on my credit card for my T-mobile phone in January. I did an online chat with them. Them: "What is your PIN"? Me: "I have no clue and I'm not sure I have one". Them: "yes, you do. You set it up when you activated your phone". Me: "no, I'm pretty sure I don't have one". "Them: "You do. If you don't remember it, here are instructions to change it. Chat back when you get it changed". Next day, after looking through everything I could find and racked my brain to come up with pos
  22. When I did medical transcription at home, I carried any records in a box locked in my trunk. I could not carry them in the backseat or the front floor board. The box I carried them in was not locked but the trunk was. I think regulations are tighter now (this was in the mid-1990s). If they are like financial records in an accounting office, they can be destroyed by the business but have to be destroyed in a secure manner. No licensed or bonded company needed as long as the records are destroyed securely. Then there is the issue about destroying records before the destruct-by date.
  23. Not a choice for a lot of people. That's the only job they can seem to find. It's certainly not a job beneath anyone (me included). Any HONEST job is not beneath you.
  24. Yes, I would. as I stated earlier, screw policy and protocol when a human life is at stake. Go pull someone out of a freaking car and ask THEM to do it if "policy" dictates that you cannot use your medical training to help someone. While you're at it, re-evaluate why you're in that profession to start with. I would hope the reason one becomes a medical professional is to help those who need help and who are in pain and not to coldly tell a 911 operator that there is nobody there who is WILLING to help a dying person LIVE. If the patient is terminal that is different. This woman was in
