  1. I used to have both companies, and they told me the same for the actual dish. It's really just basically plastic, if I remember. All the dish companies are really interested in is their receiver. That I had to return via UPS and the dish companies sent me boxes for that.
  2. It never hurts to call the Douglas County shelter too, just in case a Douglas County resident happened upon the dog. I hope he makes it back home safe and sound.
  3. I usually have to go through the "express" lane at Walmart because it's the only aisle you can buy smokes. One day, in a non-tobacco products checkout lane next to me, some guy decided to yell and berate a young checkout clerk into near tears because she wasn't allowed to sell cigarettes from her register. He left in a huff after the manager came over and explained to him again what the rules were. I hung around and told that manager what an ass that guy was to this young woman. There was just no excuse for it, and I felt so sorry for her.
  4. A friend of mine in Oregon had Lyme disease that unfortunately went misdiagnosed until years later. She's on a cane now, and has a lot of neurological problems. She's only in her early 50's.
  5. Let's tattle on stradial to his mom. You know what she'll do to him.
  6. Performance-enhancing drugs apparently shrink brain cells while they increase muscle mass. Otherwise, why would any so-called "athlete" think he won't get caught using them one day?
  7. I went to him once, several years ago, for a throat infection or something like that. I swore I'd never go back to him again, even though he treated my medical problem correctly. I felt sorry for his staff.
  8. That could be true, it could have been a secretary or aide who told my friend that, and not the teacher herself. The whole "required" business didn't make sense to her or to me.
  9. My friend was told verbally it was required by someone at the school.
  10. I was going to start with certain men, like my ex-boyfriend. He lives out in the country in NC and a couple of weeks ago posted a picture of himself on facebook with a goat. I wasn't sure what to think at first, but then I was relieved. He's finally moved on.
  11. Men. You can't live with 'em. You can't shoot 'em. Legally. At least that what it says on Google.
  12. My next thread is going to be about Men.
  13. JJ Cale with Eric Clapton, 2004. At about the 3:55 mark, toward the far right lower corner, is a quick glimpse of my friend's dad, Rocky Frisco. http://youtu.be/gaT5O72-CnY
  14. I just found the PDF list (sorry, I couldn't seem to make it create a link to post) and computer-related items will be tax-exempt. That sounds like a good time to pick up the stuff I've been needing.
  15. JJ's pianist and best friend since high school is Rocky Frisco. One of Rocky's daughters is one of my closest friends, we've known each other for many years now. Today is Rocky's birthday, he is still active in the Tulsa music scene. Really sad for JJ's family, and for Rocky.
  16. Someone on my facebook told me after I posted the thread last night that those pencils are apparently easier for small hands to use than standard ones. I had never heard of them until now. You know it's a shame that parents aren't given some type of tax break for school costs when they file their annual income taxes. Something besides the one-day tax free holiday, I mean. Isn't that in mid-August this year? I normally don't pay attention to it but I need a new monitor for my old pc and thought I read somewhere that computer-related purchases would also be tax-free that day. I could be wron
  17. Yeah. We're busy countin' our toes, fightin' communism and tattle-tailing on stradial to his mother.
  18. $150?? Good grief. If it had been my kid, I'd told him to take off his socks and uses his toes.
  19. That's right, stradial. Never, EVER underestimate a Mama.
  20. It's just flat out unsafe to leave a child of any age, even a high school senior, alone at the end of a driveway or bus stop. Way too easy for a kid to get snatched up.
  21. I appreciate that, I'll let her know. She has local family support thankfully and her husband still works, so hopefully this is just a one-time burden. I'm going to ask another clueless, non-parent question. I'm a homeowner, pay property/school taxes. I have no problems doing so in theory, but is that tax money being distributed equally throughout the county's schools? Or are "better" neighborhoods getting more money for their schools because more tax money is collected? Percentage-wise, how much of my tax money is going for teacher salaries, school maintenance, textbooks, supplies? Wha
  22. I assure you, knowing my friend for nearly 9 years, that she gives way more than a crap about her child, her child's education and her child's teacher. As far as not having a kid if you can't afford it, it's about 5 years too late for her to terminate a pregnancy. Not that she would anyway. My friend got laid off. It happens. Things happen where a parent finds themselves in a serious financial bind, due to job loss, divorce (maybe an abusive spouse), widowhood, medical disability...the list goes on. So to tell them to cough up money for name brand supplies and to be unable to designate at leas
  23. Hey, whoever fixed the title for me, thanks.
  24. I'm sorry, I'm not picking on you, just want to understand. Is your child in public or private school?
