Laurie, I don't think the spin is negative at all. 315,000 giving up looking is very likely fact. Most of them. -
You got that right! It's one result of being taught that the world owes you a living. Makes me retch.

The really sad thing is that people such as this woman truly believe that they are owed a living funded by others. This is sick and completely irresponsible. This is the heritage that the Democrat/Progressive/liberal party have left us as a result of their infiltration of our educational system and the "mainstream media". While I sympathize with the situation in which the children find themselves, Mom and Dad should be taken aside, Mom should be put on birth control, and both should be told to "get a job"! I am sick and tired of supporting deadbeats.

Actually, many government jobs are 40 hours a week with the best benefits including pension payments that are much better than those in the private sector. Makes me wanna puke. -

Happy belated Birthday. I'll join you in 4 weeks from today. I have found that not many of us know about the age 65 deduction. I learned about it following my appeal of my assessment last Thursday. -

Are you sure about the age requirement of 65 for school tax? I'd call your tax assessor to be certain of the age and any other requirements. -
Geargia Property Tax Exemption(s) at Age 65
AcworthDad replied to AcworthDad's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Thanks for the information. I spoke with the Cobb Tax Assessor's office and was told that there are two distinct age 65 property tax exemptions. The first has no income requirement, and will reduce and likely will eliminate the state tax line on your property tax bill (in my case it is $25.56). I will apply for this one. The second has an income requirement and you have to attach your federal and state tax returns. From what I gather, if your taxable income (usually you and your spouse) is greater than 10k (excluding SS and retirement income), you will not qualify. The impact of this w -
Geargia Property Tax Exemption(s) at Age 65

Thanks. I applied for and received my school tax exemption; you qualify at age 62 for this one. It cut my taxes by $1800 per year. -
Has anyone had any experience with this? The state description implies there are two different exemptions but the first one has no amount (other than "ad valorem" which I've never seen itemized in my county tax bill). On my 2011 bill, there is an item labelled "State Total" with an amount of $25.56. Is this the amount to which the exemptions below would apply? Here are the write-ups for the age 65 exemption(s): Individuals 65 Years of Age and Older May Claim an exemption from state tax on their home and 10 acres of land surrounding the home
