  1. There is a pretty nice spot on the road to Red Top Mountain, just before you cross the bridge of the lake. I beleive the Army Corp has it designated as a fish attraction area. There is parking for about 10 cars or so and you walk down the embankment and out to the jetty. There are some trees out at the end for shade -- enjoy!
  2. Totally agree on Second Hand Lions -- It is a good family movie for all ages, also Princess Bride -- classic! Last summer we went to the free movie of "Mr. Bean's Vacation" -- it was really funny!!! Mentioning some old classics, just remember a rating of PG in 1980 is much different than a PG rating these days -- we bought the Raiders of the Lost Ark series and my 8 year old was crying at all the violence in the beginning!!!
  3. Best advice -- check it out! 2 years old is still pretty young to the whole movie experience, but these free movies are so chocked full of kids its almost a social experience in its own. Just remember, it is free, expect to wait, get there early, dont be dissapointed if your kid freaks and you have to leave. In my opinion, it is a perfect time to try out a new thing like a movie experience -- for free!! If you dont have your child in daycare yet -- it is also a GREAT time to observe many of the locals that bring the whole crew - I saw things that both frightened me and enlightened me!! Go
  4. Native Floridian here -- one of the best kept secrets: Anna Maria Island, Treasure Island, just south of St. Petersburg area. Rent a boat and explore the many islands such as Caladisi and Honeymoon Island. Another favorite area is St. Augustine, Amelia Island on the Atlantic Ocean near Jacksonville. Personally, South Florida is just too hot, humid and crowded -- Unless you are willing to go ALL the way, Key West is it's own vacation!!!
  5. I find it interesting that Obama won't release the picture of this mass murderer, but he had not problem lifting an 18-year old ban on photographing our soldiers coffins upon their return home to the USA!! Disgusting.
  6. Hate to say it, but this is the experience for almost anything that is free -- brings out the worst in people. I remember taking my child to a free "DisneyRadio" thing at the mall when he was 2 or 3 -- I built it up to him that he would be able to see Mickey, blah, blah, blah....there were THOUSANDS of people that showed up and we didnt even get close. Painful lesson learned that day.
  7. This story disgusts me like no other I have seen in a while. Thought about posting more, but just can't. UGH!
  8. Wooo Lordy -- It's hitting hard and fast here in NorthEast Paulding County -- Not tremendously huge hail -- but LOUD!! and LOTS of Lightening!! Satellite is out, so just checking on others! WoooHoo -- Love me a good storm!!
  9. Just left my house!! 3-4 Jobs that HAD to be done today (listed our house this week and have a showing already!!) Saunders did a GREAT job!! Friendly, professional and job done even before it was promised!!
  10. OK -- I have held back my opinion on you for a long while (based on your screen name) -- after watching that episode, and your synopsis -- true that!!
  11. I would highly recommend High School Band/Flags -- as a high schooler, I was new to the area and quickly bonded with the other girls on the squad - you are part of a team, so there is very little cliques going on within the band/drama club/orchestra, etc. Plus, we got to travel to many competitions, parades, parks, etc. So much fun!! Look into it!
  12. I grew up a few miles away from the Mouse -- so to say I have been there a few times is an understatement. So, a few tips I would give to someone visiting is .... you will never do it all, please dont try. Concentrate on one park, take your time, and enjoy! Do try and pack bottled waters/snacks to save money - cant stress that enough -- can get very hot and to purchase water is like 5.00 a bottle!! If you have a birthday, wedding, first visit, etc. stop by City Hall in the opening area where you rent strollers etc, they will give you a free commemorative button -- every cast member (the wo
  13. DGITW -- You should give more examples to what you mean -- exactly what are the comparisons to poverty to ADD/ADhD...since you bring it up? I'll break it down to where it applies to EVERYONE -- everyone/free/reduced lunch are served Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks, "valentine" flavored pears covered with red food coloring as the school breakfast (loaded with Red40, Blue 5, etc) and the very highest class pack their kids lunches with fruit roll ups, gogurts, just about everything (all loaded with Red 40) we are a nation uneducated! -- dont play the class card ADHD, Asthma, Autism, sensativity applies
  14. For anyone with ADD/ADHD -- this thread has WAYYYYYY to many words in it!!! LOL! Put it simply...there's something in the chicken!!! ADD/ADHD aside, how many of your children or children you know have: asthma, allergies, adhd, autism, etc.....think back 20-25 years ago....how many did you know then? Look into the food additives such as Red 40 (which was banned in America until the 1970's and remains banned in most of Europe and Canada). Oh, while you're reading about Red 40...look at the ingredients in your tooth paste, cough syrup, juice boxes, most cereals, pop tarts, go-gurts, fruit rol
  15. I second the Dawn Liquid dishwasher soap -- my best friend was a groomer and told me this was the BEST flea killer/repellent 16 years ago when I got my first dog -- used on all 3 dogs since then and we have NEVER seen a flea in our house!!! I have never even bought a flea collar! Been to about 4 different vets over the years and when I tell them what we use -- they ALWAYS smile and say, good for you!! I usually follow up with a nicer smelling baby shampoo also for a clean smell!!
  16. After starting this post, I have started to notice other areas also (92 was on my way to an errand today and it REALLY stood out), but other parts of major areas look almost as bad...What part of the county is responsible for this? Is there a number we can call and request clean up? So sad...like Grandma always said, "Ya don't have to be rich to be clean!" Booo Paulding!
  17. While driving north on 92 today from 120 to the Crossroads, I was astounded at the amount of trash on the side of the road...I even saw a discarded coffee table and couch!! Who takes care of this within the county? I used to see prisoners and they did a great job - just wondering if anyone knows if this is still being done, or who to call!
  18. Take this from a Florida native -- GO DEEPER INTO THE BAHAMAS THAN NASSUA!! Nassua is VERY touristy (almost to point of annoying) Ships are REQUIRED to stop there, so that should tell you something!!! I do agree with the post to take a cruise -- just skip the opening port of Nassau ( or stay on the ship to experience a wonderful less crowded experience onboard!!) Atlantis is the only shining hope here, but ridiculously expensive!!!! TAke a cruise and explore the other islands As a Floridian, where ships leave daily, I always felt sorry for the people who were paying money to see Freeport
  19. Hubby just landed at ATL -- hasnt been here all week, he is convinced "its all passed". Wondering since sun has gone down how passable Camp Creek Parkway north to Acworth is? Anyone travel that way in the last few hours?? Would the scanner be useful to let me hear which roads are impassable with black ice or accidents? So worried!!
  20. That's when the New Yorker in me would have kicked in....opened a window and yelled as loud as you can "SHHHHHHHUUUUTTTTT UUUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPP! You'd be amazed how effective it is -- no law enforcement necessary! Try it next time!
  21. Maybe I should clarify and say I am surprised at how many people made it to McD's!! Like I said, I realize it all ices up again tonight!
  22. Just made it up the Crossroads (Cedarcrest and 92) and the McD's playground looked like a daycare!! I am surprised to hear school is closed tomorrow -- but have to try to remember this will all ice up again in a few hours! Kids were having fun anyway!!
  23. WEIRD!! A random Bobcat just cleared half out neighborhood (off 92) and we are all awe-struck!! Could this be "BOBCAT MAN!" If so, he is my new best friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. I am south of Crossroads on 92 and can count maybe 10 cars went by all day (that I saw)...VERY slowly, Actually saw a semi truck going by about 5 miles an hour around noon. I cannot make it up my hill to see if it is actually plowed, but think it could be if the Semi made it! Good Luck, Please post if you are able to get out and check!
  25. Thank you! you'd be pleased to know that the neighbors let them know that Paulding County is closed....but they go to a private school in Cobb....MUUUUUAAAAHHHHH!!! It gets even better!!!! I have resorted to things like, "If you change your sheets and make your bed, I hear that is a good omen!!!" ***Please keep snow away for another hour***
