  1. You lifted it, now tell me which healthcare plan do you think the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation supports? (Hint: It's not Obama's)
  2. He was a hoot. I loved it when he got out of his humvee and beat the cr@p out of the anti military protester that spit on him him through the window during the Veteran's day parade. Commie Dave and Flush the lines were highlights along with "Mens on Ball"
  3. First of all, no charity owes anybody anything. They are free to choose who they believe to be the most deserving of their help. It would appear from numerous news stories that The Battle family concealed from Homes for Our Troops that they owned multiple homes in Georgia, that one of them was already in the process of being adapted, and that they intended Georgia to be their permanent home. This being the case, it is more than a little likely that the Sargent would have sold the home in Baltimore as soon as his rehab was over. If we are to believe that what Sargent Battle did in servi
  4. I've gone through roadblocks twice in 6 months within 3 miles of my house. They do what they can with what they got.
  5. I complained to the marshals about a foreclosed property in our neighborhood. They contacted the real estate company who agreed to maintain the property. I was told that if they didn't, that the Marshal's office would contact the bank that owned it. So far, so good. The grass has been cut. it doesn't hurt to try the system and if it fails, do it yourself to protect your property values.
  6. The OP says that the county budget is 4.5 m short and you say 1.7m. Who's right? And the 4 day week would make even more sense if it only had to be for a few weeks. I'm not blaming anyone except thee boob who didn't see this coming, and the county bonds have to be paid somehow, just not necessarily with a tax increase.
  7. How long would it take to make up the shortfall if the entire County Government operated 4 days a week with the exception of Sheriff, Marshals, Fire, 911, and the Courts? It's an option to make up at least part of the money. I know it will be a hardship on employees and for that reason can't last too long. 10 to 12 weeks spread out over 6 months should help a lot.
  8. The $6 Million shortfall is due to $6 Million in decreased revenue from all sources, including property taxes, sales taxes, permits, and fees. What concerns me is that the budget document has a "proposed" date of June 1st, 2009, and just 18 days later we suddenly realize that we are off in revenue by $6 Million?????? Whose freakin' fault is that??? Who made these projections, and why did we not include the shortfall in the document a mere 18 days ago????? Somebody obviously dropped the ball there, but that is now water leaked from the pipes and we have to move on. The shortfall is not
  9. Yup. Just started back walking about 2 miles in the morning after 3 months off for medical reasons. even my arse hurts!
  10. The fact that the kid running the show at GM now is an avowed Global Social Democratist with no management experience, not even a lemonade stand, and whose last "job' was at a socialist think tank should tell you something. That something doesn't exactly instill confidence in his decisions. I hate to see GM ruined in the name of Government Mandated Motors.
  11. While the unemployment figures are daunting, I seriously doubt that they would have been any different 6 months and 50 billion dollars ago. The rightful owners of GM would have gotten equity in the new company equal to their percentage of ownership, the company would be rid of a large percentage of the horrendous legacy costs that have been preserved under the "new GM", and the government wouldn't be in the car business. The union would have negotiated a deal similar to the one that they will currently have going forward. The whole mess is a huge shame compounded by Government involvemen
  12. I don't know why folks can't understand that. The county is getting a new station that will be a VALUE, not a repayment of a political contribution at the expense of the taxpayer. Now if we just had the money to actually man the stations.........
  13. I'm sorry but every time something is to be dropped from a helicopter, I think of this and laugh my arse off:
  14. We love Loves Seafood! Welcome to Pcom. For those of you who like a true New Orleans style meal at a reasonable price, this is the place. Loves Seafood Website
  15. IE 8 consumes more ram than Windows XP (the entire operating system) at 350 to 400 mb, and it requires over 150 concurrent execution threads, making it more than twice as demanding of system resources than Firefox. It's a typical piece of Microsoft Bloatware. It does integrate with Facebook, Ebay, and Livemaps better though. For my money I'll click the mouse a couple of time more to get to Facebook and save the overhead by running Firefox. Just as an aside, all three popular browsers including IE8 were hacked in seconds yesterday at a Canadian contest while Microsoft reps watched i
  16. Having lost my mother to that disease, I know that it is a long, slow, and painful process. Believe that he is in a better place and is breathing in all the cool fresh air he can stand. I am truly sorry for your loss.
  17. Had the Steak and Rib Weekend Special last Saturday night, and I tell you that was delicious! Had enough Steak left over for breakfast the next morning.
  18. A comprehensive drivers TEST that lasts more than a few minutes should be required for a license. The current test is the real joke. It doesn't matter if a kid paid $300 for a 2 week simulator course, paid a strip mall DUI school to certify them, or if their parents gave them comprehensive lessons that included hours and hours of wheel time. What matters is whether or not they can drive the freakin' car. I know people with years behind the wheel that probably couldn't pass a good test and don't need to be on the road. Passing a so called course means squat if you can't pass a really good
  19. Multiple Fire units responding. Smoke and fire visible. Fire started in Laundry Room.
  20. I really wanted to go, but like PSD says, somebody has to pay for PBO's plan. Last minute stuff for a client must be done! Lets get on next weeks plan sooner this time.
  21. Sorry guys, something came up with work this AM. I'll catch you on the flip.
  22. I nominate Nature Girl for that duty. All in favor say aye!
