  1. "Many SROs were not available today. Paulding sent a whole shift to Douglas to cover calls so even their on duty guys could attend the funeral. Also many others went to the funeral to pay respects from the agency."

That is so awesome!! I am very glad to know that our SO stepped in to help DC. I had no idea they'd do that. Everyone at the DCSO deserved to attend Blake's funeral.

I saw it on the news at 5. It was so sad!!

  2. A co-worker's son won $50,000 on a scratch off!! Just bought one and hit it big. I tryto play Mega Millions weekly and I play Fantasy 5 sometimes. I don't use my bill money and no one suffers by my spending a couple of dollars a week. I'd waste it somewhere else if not on the lottery. I believe I have just as good a chance as anyone else. It's just luck! I've been lucky before- - -won a trip to Jamaica, a trip to the Bahamas, $400.00, lots of small things. So I hope that one day, my patience will pay off and I'll win something good. I'm not greed either. I just want enough to pay off my house so that I can quit work and travel with my husband a couple of times a year. I don't need millions. A big Fantasy 5 win will be fine!!

I don't understand how people who have no money and live in run-down homes, with run-down cars and dirty children can spend their money on lottery tickets. That makes me sick! They are spending their money on the wrong thing!!

I do it for fun! If I win, fine. If not, that's ok, too.

  3. Congratulations on the new addition to your family! I'm sure Lily will bring much happiness and joy to your lives. Our dog is just like a child and we enjoy him so much.

    You made a good decision!

  4. Blake Gammill ----- 591 is 10-42, :( (that is so sad to even think that much less say that!

I've cried off and on all day because of this. KICKS 101.5 talked about Blake all morning and several deputies called in with information.

When I read DC's post, I cried more.

I didn't know Blake real well. I rode with him 4 or 5 times during my internship with DCSO. But a person can just tell when someone if real, genuine. Blake was real and genuine and it didn't take me long to figure that out. He was just a real good person.

My heart breaks for his fiance, his children, and all the other family he left behind.

  5. I heard the beginning of this on my scanner when they were first going to serve the warrant. I didn't think it would be anything major and didn't know who the officers involved were. I found out when I turned on the TV at 5:00 this morning. I was praying it wasn't anyone I knew personally, but sadly I was wrong.

When I was attending Mercer University, I did a criminal justice internship with the DCSO. Deputy Blake Gammill was one of the officers that I rode with on seveal occasions. My heart is broken by this tragic event. He was one of the sweetest, kindest, funniest people you'd ever want to meet.

It is doubly tragic that he was killed while serving a warrant on a former DC deputy, Jimmy Bilbo. I also knew him. I was shocked when I saw him on the news last year begin arrested for child molestation. I would never have guessed that about him.

While I was doing my internship, Blake found out his wife was pregnant with their first child. He was so excited! I haven't seen or spoken with him since my internship ended. His daughters are 3 and 18 months.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, also. We had a lot in common in that regard. He liked going to the bike rallys in Daytona, etc.

He was an excellent officer, and I know he will be missed by all who knew him. The only good thing out of this is that the perpetrator is also dead. He deserved it, Blake did not.

It is a very depressing day today. I just can't stop thinking about what a nice guy he was and what a tragic loss this is.

The radio just interviewed the DCSO chaplain. This was the first DC deputy to have ever been killed in the line of duty. He said that Blake was going to be married on 4/23/05. I guess he had gotten divorced from wife #1.

They are going to set up a trust fund for the kids. The chaplain said that it was a random bullet that struck Blake. He said there was heavy protection but it only took about an inch for the bullet to get through. This is just so devastating. My day at work won't be very productive.

Blake and his family will be in my prayers.

  6. I am so sorry! My heart breaks for what your family is going through. Just remember that God has called for another angel named Sarah. She is in Heaven and at peace.

Your family will remain in my prayers.

  7. When you have children, you have to put them first. They are your number one priority. I did without a lot of things, as a single parent, for my two girls to have what they need. They didn't always have the designer clothes. They weren't given a car when they turned 16. They always had food and clothing and a decent place to live. I was lucky enough not to have to work but one job so I did get to spend a lot of time with them. That means a lot. My mother was able to help some. She was the one who bought the first pair of expensive sneakers for them and the one who bought them the brand-name clothes for Christmas and birthdays. This made them appreciate the few extras they had.

Now they are both on their own. My oldest has a very good job and has a nice apartment, car, nice clothes. She has expensive tastes but can afford to buy herself nice things once in a while. My youngest has been fortunate to find a nice young man who worships her and she doesn't have to work. She wants for nothing because he has a very good job.

I have found a wonderful man, whom I married 2.5 years ago. He is self-employed and makes decent money. My job doesn't pay very well but it is enough for me because I don't have to drive downtown or on 285.

Finally, I don't have to worry so much about money.

I feel that we are all reaping the rewards now for the sacrifices we made for many years. And it was all worth it.

  8. I didn't know the woman and son were found dead. I just found out when I clicked on this post. I had so hoped it would turn out different. I cannot comprehend doing what he did. My mind just cannot grasp the concept. They should fry him ASAP. I know this sounds awful, but a monster like that doesn't deserve to live.

    Three more angels in heaven!

  9. I have swerved to avoid hitting an animal many times. My husband fusses at me when I tell him about it. It is very dangerous to do that, but it can also be dangerous to hit an animal (deer, etc.).

Bless his heart. I'm just glad he's going to be ok. Hopefully, you can find out who stopped to help him. They deserve to be thanked.

Your brother-in-law and family will remain in my prayers.

  10. Lovebug:

Thanks so much for the update! I was very frustrated when I couldn't get any more info from the scanner. I was especially concerned to know that they could not get life flight off the ground.

You and your family are in my prayers. Please keep us updated on your brother-in-laws condition.

  11. In the curve at Bethel United Methodist Church. A red car has struck a tree. They need life flight but have been advised that they cannot get a bird. No one can fly. Weather is too bad.

I live real close to Bethel Church Road. I heard all the sirens and turned my scanner on. I've just picked up bits and pieces.

  12. Dr. McLendon is the best! He was my youngest daughter's orthodontist. I was a single mom so money was VERY tight. He worked out a payment plan that I could afford. We saw severl, and he was the only one willing to make it affordable for me. Now my daughter has the most beautiful smile!!

    I highly recommend him!

  13. They should prosecute ALL who steal, juvenile or not. My oldest daughter had a friend whose mom would take the kids "shoplifting". They got stuff for her, too.

I have no sympathy for those who steal. Work and pay for what you want!!

As for a juvenile, some might be too young to work, but if it they steal and it gets brushed under the rug, they don't learn anything and will do it again.

  14. I heard it on the traffic report yesterday morning. Haven't heard anything else. Same for the one on Hiram Sudie on Wednesday night. It was bad. The guy had to be life-flighted. But I haven't heard anything else on that one either.

My prayer are with both riders. My husband and I ride so we know how dangerous it is.

  15. Channel 2 had this on the 5:30 news this morning. They interviewed Ms. Lusk.

She said she was in the bathroom and when she came out, he was going through her things. She asked him what was he doing in her house and he mumbled something she couldn't understand. He began moving around as though he was coming towards her and she shot him. They did not mention his female accomplice. The guy is still in critical condition. GOOD!!!!

    She's a very brave lady!!
