  1. I'm not sure what's going on with them but something is messed up. My bill normally runs around $25 per month. In May, I got a bill for almost $70!! I called them but they said it was right. We had not used any more water than usual. My June bill was a little lower and my July bill was $9.00. All of this is using the same amount of water each month.

They need to get it together!!!

  2. The new Kroger is RIDICULOUSLY high, even with the Kroger Plus Card. The only reason I go there is to get my prescriptions filled and get gas, and that's only because it's so close to home. I think Publix is high as well. I do best at Wal-Mart or Target. Target was great when they first opened. They had the best prices around. Unfortunately, they didn't have the selection that other grocery stores have, and now they're as high as all the big stores.

    Save-Rite is pretty reasonable, too.

I don't like the idea of the card either. All shoppers should pay the same prices!!

  3. I am having a yard sale on Friday (7/30) and Saturday (7/31). I have quite a few clothes for teenagers (jeans, shirts, jackets, shoes - all brand name), a computer desk, collectible coke bottles, motorcycle stuff, Christmas Around the World, some Home Interior, a LOT of Beanie Babies, and a lot of other stuff.

I live in Poole Bridge Park Subdivision, which is off of Poole Bridge Road, off of Ridge Road (near P. B. Ritch Elementary)

My prices are VERY reasonable. I want to sell everything!!!

The hours are from 7:30 to 3:30, both days.

Come help me get rid of all my stuff!!!

  4. I've lived in Paulding and been in the same subdivision 10 years now, and I love it. Our S/D is small and, to my knowledge, the only thing that's happened is that someone stole a credit card out of my mailbox. We've never had anything stolen out of our yard, and I have a lot of mail-order stuff delivered.

I guess it's like everywhere else; there is good and bad. There's enough good to make me want to stay.

  5. I cannot imagine how someone can hit any kind of animal and then laugh. I accidentally ran over a turtle when I was about 16 (I'm 40 now) and I will never forget how upset I was when I realized what I had hit. I had a squirrel run out in front of me and I could not avoid it. I cried and cried!! The girl who hit the turkey is obviously a sick individual to do something like that. What goes around comes around so someday when she least expects, she will get hers.

  6. I met Mike Christopher when I had to have his help in prosecuting a child molester. I hate to have met him under those horrible circumstances. But, being the fine detective and good man that he is, he made a tough time more bearable for a young girl who had been through hell. He is a great person and I know that he works very hard to help kids who've had crimes perpetrated against them.

Mike and his family will be in my prayers. I wish him the best and hope that he gets better soon.

  7. That is the most awful thing I've heard in a long time. I cannot imagine what kind of sick person(s) could do something like that. They need to have the same thing done to them. Of course that's not possible, so they need to go to jail for a very long time. Animals are like children, totally helpless, and do not deserve to have anyone be mean to them or harm them in any way.

I'm one of the biggest animal lovers around. I have a 9 week old chocolate lab puppy. When I read this, his little face came to mind and all I wanted to do was go home and love one him. I just cannot comprehend how someone can do such a thing.

  8. First, I'd turn in my notice at work!!!! Then I would pay off my house, sell it, and buy another one on a beach somewhere!! My husband and I love the beach. I'd give enough money to my relatives that they'd be set for life. I'd give money to whatever charities I could find that help children and animals. I'd invest what's left and enjoy my early retirement.

  9. That is soooo sad!! I have two cats and a 9 week old chocolate lab puppy. I love them all like they were my kids. I can't imagine getting a pet, getting attached to it, and then giving it up. If my husband would let me, I'd have a LOT more pets than I do. I will spread the word about the number of animals that need adopting.

  10. idriveitto: I agree that there should be some repercussions for the child taking your son's bike and damaging it. The parents need to take some responsibility for their minor son's actions. Apparently, he hasn't been taught that you don't take what doesn't belong to you. And also, your son needs to learn to be more responsible with his belongings. I have two daughters who are now 19 and 21. I've been through several similar situations when they were younger. The sheriff's office had to help resolve one situation, which they did quite satisfactorily. I had to get them involved because of the value of the property stolen and the fact that the other child's parents couldn't have care less what their kid did. Therefore, someone had to try to teach the kid right from wrong. It was handled through the juvenile division of the sheriff's office. It took a while to go to court but we were finally reimbursed and the child was placed on probation.

It's a tough situation to be in. I'm just glad my kids are grown now. Good luck!

  11. I also have a scanner and am amazed at some of the med calls. I sometimes think people do it just to get attention. I also heard about the county that fined the lady who kept calling 911 for VERY minor reasons. I think they even took her to jail!! I think that's an excellent idea for those who repeatedly call for non-emergency situations. I like the idea about voice-activated 911 and letting the caller know there will be a charge if it turns out to be non-emergency.
