  1. Hey! Last time I was there, you guys did some kind of awesome treatment to my hair. I think it had citrus in it, and it stripped the 'build-up' out of my hair and left it super soft again. What on earth is that stuff called? TIA
  2. What school system is he in? ~curious~ Cause this is the Ga policy "2. Other than students specifically exempted by rule or by law , the following individuals shall be eligible for enrollment in state-funded programs in Georgia public schools : (i) Students who have attained the age of five by September 1 to enroll in the appropriate general education programs unless they attain the age of 20 by September 1 or they have received a high school diploma or the equivalent as prescribed in O .C.G.A. § 20-2-150 ;" (p.s. I love yer siggy. )
  3. Why does there have to be a problem? If a child is held back sayyyy in 1st grade and then again in 3rd, he would be 18-19 starting the 12th grade. Happens all the time - late-diagnosed learning disabilities, problems at home, etc. Kids get held back. I know, not related to the OP. Just irks me when people assume older Seniors are automatically problem children, lazy, etc. (By the way, I graduated at 17, so I'm not being personally defensive ).
  4. They actually don't kick you out of high school until you turn 21. Crazy, I know, but you can technically be a 20 year old senior. We had two the year I graduated.
  5. The article was awesome - I'll have to see if I can get him to find it. The blogs/forums with all of the stories of all the Chantix users now with diabetes were heartbreaking. My response, though was '...so?'. He said 'Why would you chance that?!'. I said 'To quit SMOKING! I'd rather have diabetes than lung cancer!' He left it up to me, of course, but I didn't even want to hear it.
  6. I know. Twas just teasin'. I've known him long enough that I have uber 'Give him hell' rights.
  7. Actually, I didn't...which is why I included that the recycling center is on Ivey Gulledge. I just though I'd suggest the schools, since they would benefit.
  8. Check with the local schools - I know Abney Elementary (which is on the way to the recycling center off of Ivey Gulledge) recycles cans as a year-long fundraiser. ♥
  9. I worked in Financial Aid for three years. A filter was most definitely needed.
  10. The Wizard of Oz is Dd's favorite play, and it's opening night is the day after her birthday.
  11. I did that. With mini-me, beating her like Jesus wouldn't work. If anything, it just made her behavior and attitude worse. That whole 'can't feel pain' thing has led us to some seriously creative discipline...some which has worked, some which made things worse. It's really just been trial and error.
  12. Morbidly obese people can't be broke? It is only illegal for some trucks to drive in it. HOV lanes are a whole different story though. I will drive in it, but you will never see me driving at the same speed as the vehicle next to me. I will be going faster than them or I will move over. I officially hate the HOV lane. The past two times I've been in it, I was flying (sans kiddo). Both times, some idiot rushed up behind me going fifty-gazillion miles an hour, started flashing his light and honking. Hellloooo....solid line. Nothing I can do about you and your need to
  13. But....but...but..... I fit under all of that but the last one. You can't hate me for long. I googled Chantix diabetes and came up with a bunch of stuff. I didn't actually read through them, but there were results. One time I did that and came up with a whole forum that was created (just like p.com) for people who were diabetic now after Chantix The original article he made me read was in one of his medical journals that he gets - he's in the medical field. They've had a few in them since then, including one about a class action lawsuit. Actually, one of his co-workers is o
  14. I stand with kiddo at the bus stop. She doesn't know any of the kids, doesn't know the neighborhood at all, and the bus stop is nowhere near the house. I wouldn't let her play that far away from my line of vision...I'm certainly not going to let her stand on the corner by herself that far away from my line of vision. She's only five, though. I do stand pretty far away, though (while not smoking ). I don't need to be right up her tush while she greets and gets to know her new bus-stop friends....I just need to be able to see that she gets on and off of the bus.
  15. The patch didn't work with me. I needed something to keep me busy, not just to give me nicotine.
  16. I wasn't meaning to say that she doesn't. I worked alot in high school and my mom did most of my laundry. I just thought that maybe if she made me do my own laundry because I smoked (an added chore I didn't have time for) that I would have second guessed smoking. Maybe. I can't think of anything else that would have worked other than taking my car...but she couldn't do that because I had to have it to get to work. That's me. 'Working'.
  17. Don't let her go to Stars and Strikes or Sparkles? That's what my mom woulda done. Then again, I smoked anyway. Most of mine, I got from work. My managers didn't care who was underage and smoking. Make her do her own stinky laundry.
  18. Yayyyy for appointments! I hate weeks like that. There's not going to be much that you can do for the 14 year old, unless you can find a way to keep her from her friends. I stayed grounded for smoking (even though all of my parents were smokers ) once I turned 15 and got caught, and I still managed to get them - from my managers at work, coworkers, family friends, friends...sometimes even just from the store. If they're determined, they'll do it. I think it all depends on the relationship between the parent and child at that age. Nooo way I was going to listen to my mom at 14/15.
  19. 'Me' time is awesome! Baby is due on St Patrick's Day. The other half quit cold turkey, and Snus helped him alot. He started off with a pack a day and whittled it down until he stopped using it all together. For me, it was the habit instead of the nicotine...although I did have mood swings like crazy from withdrawals. I help with the habit, I popped a dum dum in my mouth every time I wanted to smoke. That made it sooo much easier.
  20. Mini-Me wanted to do Girl Scouts, gymnastics, and football this season. No way. I can't handle all that at once. I'm sorry!
