  1. Yes, they very much did. We all did. I remember like yesterday seeing her at a 'police family' gathering and giving her big hugs, talking to her forever - I was only ten when Glenn died. She played the part well. My dad and one of his best friends was on motors with her husband. We were all horrified when he died. The best friend taught her to ride the motorcycle she bought with the money from her husband's death, became good friends with her, etc. After her boyfriend died and we realized all that was going on, we freaked - that crazy woman helped cook for ALL of us 'cop families' at the
  2. I have nothing against Animal simply because I've never bothered with the political threads and don't know how he 'acts' on the board (of off, because I don't know him personally)...but I do see his posts and cringe. He's really doing more harm than good and I absolutely hate that for Will, because he's a great guy and a great candidate. He has my support, but you don't see me posting threads about how great he is and bashing other folks. I simply tell folks to try and see in black and white instead of red and blue for a minute, listen to what he has to say, and make a decision for yourself...
  3. Erm, no. I had her hooked up with three different types of therapists on my own accord, they just happened to visit her while in school/daycare. It worked better that way, because they were able to work with the teachers as well. Now that she's started public school, the school system seems to want us to go through them instead of elsewhere. They evaluated her back in February for a 'Pre-Kindergarten' (not to be confused with actual Pre-K) eval. and are keeping a running file between them and her teacher on her progress throughout the next few years. It helps to have the therapists throu
  4. You should have seen this child at 18 months. It took alot of sensory and behavioral therapy to get her to where she was when we met (or when I started taking her out in public in general ). She wouldn't touch water - no baths, sponge baths, etc. without having a complete breakdown and clawing the bath-giver from head to toe. I have pictures of me bleeding from the face and arms. It took three weeks of therapy for her to let us simply touch her arm with a sponge. She couldn't stand to be touched - no hugging, no cuddles, no breastfeeding, no changing clothes, no picking her up, no holding he
  5. Has anybody done a recent DIY divorce? By recent, I mean within the last 3-4 years, as laws have changed alot in the past half-decade in Georgia. I have three friends all going through this at the same time and all I can really do is give them the name and number of my lawyer - he charged a flat rate of $800 to write up my paperwork and $65 to file with the Paulding County court system. They're hoping to find a cheaper way, and I can't really blame them. Where did you get your paperwork? Did the court give you a hassle with it? I've heard of too many people getting theirs kicked back and
  6. This would be my suggestion. Bright From the Start is normally a plethora of information and resources. Do you know if the children are in the Babies Can't Wait program? You said toddlers, but not a specific age - Babies Can't Wait handles children up to age 3. Mini-Me has Sensory Processing Disorder (which is on the Autism Spectrum) and, while you can't tell much now, it was very, VERY obvious when she was a baby/toddler and in daycare. She had all sorts of people in and out of her daycare not only working with her, but teaching her teachers how to work with her as well. It made life eas
  7. First piece of advice - DON'T DO IT! It's highly addicting. I have entire storage containers of scrapbooking supplies. Second - you should google. There are hundreds upon hundreds of articles out there on how to start scrapbooking, how to pick pictures, how to embellish, etc. http://www.google.com/search?q=scrapbooking+how+to+pick+pictures&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a I love, love, love scrapbooking, but drawing and painting has taken over my art studio until I finish my degree...maybe I'll get my totes back out when
  8. Little one made it 1/2 way through Back to the Future a few nights ago and was interrupted by her bedtime. I hit up thrift stores today hoping to run across a copy and I FOUND it at The Thrift Store! A whopping .99 to make the kiddo smile - can't beat that! I walked out with many children's books for Mini-Me - they had shelves upon shelves of books to go through! I didn't even make it to the clothing racks, but they had five racks of just 'New Arrivals' - not even counting the rest of the clothes in the store! When I went to check out, guess who was behind the counter? Birdmom! She isn
  9. Do they still have those?! They came out when I was in middle school.
  10. That's my problem with the VTech toys....I'm a huge fan of Leapster. They have the VTech toys out as demos at K-Mart, and she played with them for a good half hour, though. Didn't want to leave the aisle. /sigh/
  11. She has one doll she named 'Melody' that she took up with for about a year. She's been more into stuffed animals than dolls, but she only has one or two dolls to begin with. Melody was replaced with a stuffed lemur, but I'm pretty sure it was because we would allow the lemur out of the house and wouldn't allow the nice doll to explore the great dirty world. When the ex and I split, he took the dolls with him along with all of the 'doll' stuff like the stroller, etc. Apparently, she plays with them over there. She loooooves books, so I was thinking she would like one of the history AG
  12. Because drinking, drugs, and theft don't happen in or around casinos? I'm not catching what a 'shoe show' being in the same county has to do with our educational system. Last time I checked, you have to be 18-21 to get into a strip club and most students are under that age group. The students who turn 18 and want to go to a strip club are doing so - they head right over to Starship to 'shop' for adult products and shoot right on down 41 to Boomers. The only effect I can see a strip club having on teachers, students, national ranking, and the new buildings are more taxes being collected a
  13. ...those are the only ones I know. :blush:I have no flippin' cule who Julie Hagerty or Billy Ocean are. But yeah, you should keep up! They're still out and about, just not in the roles we knew them in. 'Cept Paul Reubens. He came back as PeeWee this year and my entire childhood cringed.
  14. The Mobigo? She looooves books, but you have to add them to the V. Reader individually like you do with the Leap Frog LeapPad. She already has the LeapFrog My First LeapPad, LeapPad, and Leapster. I think she'd probably like the game the best, too. Her Leapster never has charged batteries because she plays it so much. I wonder if you have to buy the games separate, too?
  15. Mini-Me has a birthday coming up in a month. She only gets toys for her birthday and Christmas, so we tend to make them pretty big. This year she's interested in these two things: V-Tech Mobigo http://www.vtechkids.com/mobigo/ VTech V.Reader http://www.vtechkids.com/product.cfm/V.Reader_Interactive_E-Reading_System/1838/ Anybody have any experience with either of these? Also, she will be six - anybody have any experience with a 6 year old an American Girl dolls? I'm debating making a day of the American Girl store in lieu of having a party, but as of right now she doesn't ev
  16. Also, after all is said and done with and things settle down, my company has a non-profit that helps single women get on their feet. http://www.sparcas.com/ It's a great way to help her financially better herself in whatever way she needs when the time comes. ♥ For now, I'd contact Shephard's Rest Ministries ASAP. If she needs someone to talk to later, have her PM I*DO*THOSE*PARTIES here on p.com. She is very open about what she went through in her previous relationship and is a great person to talk to just as a sounding board/someone who has been through the same thing.

  18. While I completely get a boy of his age not being interested in The Sound of Music, she did say that he's spent every weekend this summer at Sun Valley Beach. That means his mom has given up atleast one day every weekend to let him go to the beach, on top of paid for it...now he won't give her one night of an awesome musical that she wants to go to with him? I'd call that selfish. Expected? Yes. He's a preteen boy. But, still selfish.
  19. I LOVE that little firetruck! If mine winds up being a boy, I'm definitely going to have something made. OH is a firefighter and would flip out over something like this. We won't know for about another month, though. /sigh/
  20. Gah! Lemme know what's left after everybody is done. I can't keep up.
  21. If it's hot outside, is the inside of the cave hot as well? I blacked out a couple of days ago and am doing good to make it from one building to another on campus without getting dizzy. Our original plan was the Zoo, but we're trying to keep preggo me out of the heat for the day just in case.
  22. Oooh, pottery rocks! I'll have to look that one up. (And yes, pottery is art. I have to take pottery classes for my Art Ed degree.) The World of Coke would be cool...once we got to the soda section. I think she'd get bored if it were just panning.
  23. Fernbank is where he really wants to go. How close are the Science Center and the Natural History Museum? He wants to take her to the Natural History Museum to see the gecko exhibit and I'm dying to see the planetarium...but they're in two different places.
