  1. Yup. Athletic fee is $144 during Spring and Fall, and $92 during the summer. That's $380 a student per year, at almost 24,000 students...that's over $9M a year in fees for athletics before concessions and ticket sales. Granted, that money gets spread to all athletics...but it's still alot, especially when the majority of the KSU students are 'non-traditional' students and have jobs/families that prevent them from enjoying all the things we're paying for. Then add in the $85 a semester for a team that won't be forming until after I graduate.../sigh/...and the land acquisition fees for land
  2. The fan base is definitely there. Just this year we've jumped to close to 24,000 enrolled students, and it goes up every year. When I started working there in 2008, we were at just 21,000. They're talking about upping the admissions requirements because supply is not quite meeting demand. KSU has an awesomely expensive new soccer stadium that seats fifty gazillion people. The baseball team gets a huge draw, as does the soccer team. KSU is definitely not *anything* like it used to be. We have 'dorms', which are actually apartments with bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room - each bedroom
  3. I agree on this one. You can still go to KSU, UWG or Chatt Tech and place flyers. I come across them ALL the time - just make sure they have the tear-off tabs on the bottom so the students can just grab and go on the way to class. Most of them are divided between three rooms to make rent cheaper, and it advertises their share of the rent, plus utilities. So they say something like: Seeking responsible (male/female/either) roommate, 3 bedroom house/apartment with common living and kitchen, location and what it's convenient to/distance from campus, and then their share of the rent plus util
  4. I'm only a few minutes from either. Lemme know which one you pick and the preggo hippie will most definitely join Kid Rock in his night of hell raisin'.
  5. A pregnant hippie, complete with a baby bump painted as the world with a peace sign through it. I couldn't think of anything else but a pregnant nun (way overdone) and a pumpkin.
  6. That's my problem! Anytime she sees me throw something away, she thinks it's because it's 'not good'.
  7. I worked in FinAid at KSU for three years. His eligibility for HOPE Scholarship entirely depends upon when he graduated, how many hours he has attempted at other colleges (if any), and what school he goes to/program he goes into. www.gacollege411.org can give you most of the information, but it's not organized really well. If he's in a certificate or diploma program at Chatt Tech, he should be eligible for HOPE Grant. The FAFSA is the only application for the Grant portion of HOPE - I would call the school's FinAid office to discuss his FAFSA results. Chances are, if they abide by the red t
  8. Mini-Me is a budding artist. So much so that she's getting work sent home to finish because she flips over her worksheets at school and draws on the back. Between school and her art desk at home, she creates more art than I could ever have a home for. I bought this at Ikea over the weekend: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10149350 along with a 98ft paper roll. Probably should have thought twice about that one - she created four giant 'masterpieces' last night alone. What do you do with all of this? Her doors are plastered and the fridge is covered. We give art to gran
  9. I get accused of that quite often. Seriously, if SO would agree to it, we'd be on our way to Oregon or Tennessee. There's a very established farm in Tennessee, and a good friend of mine has a 'baby' farm in Oregon that's going really well.
  10. My mom uses Dr. Sayeed and loves him!
  11. I need a good chiropractor, who won't charge me an arm and a leg, and doesn't have an issue dealing with the spine of a pregnant woman. I have a pinched nerve in my lower spine and, according to the chiro. that did my eval on campus a few weeks ago, my hips are completely out of line. /sigh/ Thanks in advance!
  12. I would have to agree with that, for the most part. I called him Dr. WeHouse. He seemed to get a kick out of that. He was sort of rude, very abrupt and brash, didn't take the time to explain anything, and was in and out in .2 seconds...but he was really, really good, which is why I loved him. He took one look at my knee when I injured it, told me exactly what surgery and therapy I would need, and sent me to a specialist for confirmation. He was right. When I came in with chest pains, he immediately told me he thought I had GERD. I was a 23 y/o perfectly healthy young woman and here he was tel
  13. The bolded part entirely depends upon who you ask. I agree with you, but some folks don't. I wasn't comparing being gay with polygamy...I was just comparing that some people don't like gays or people of color (or any of the other things I listed - which are all choices ), just like some people don't like polygamists. My first thought is that they're smart - they don't have to live with a man 24/7. So kidding. Sort of. I'm a huge supporter of communal living and believe that it takes a village to raise a child. I don't actually live that way, but I would if I had the chance. I was
  14. Last time I checked, he was not still in practice. I had an appointment with him on a Friday - had the swine flu and SO was in ICU with it. He told me to call back the following week to get an excuse for work after the Tamiflu kicked in. Called on Tuesday and was told I had until Friday at noon to pick up my medical records because he had closed up shop.
  15. I'm not quite understanding why it wouldn't be okay to show polygamists on television. Just because we don't agree with it (and I don't), doesn't mean it should be censored from the entire viewing world. There are still racist people, but there are definitely people of other races on television. There are people who don't agree with the GLBT world, but there are definitely gay people on tv. Most folks don't agree with murder, rape, robbery, teen pregnancy, extra marital affairs, or aboortzion but that is definitely on television. So...we don't agree with it. Don't watch it. :pardon:If enough
  16. That's who I get mine from.
  17. I would have to agree with you. My preggo hormones were raging and I hate crowds - wasn't a good combination. I finally found safety from cursing at people who insisted on stopping in the middle of the path and just standing there blocking everybody by parking my tush at the p.com tent for awhile.
  18. Dallas PD sits in the Bowling Alley parking lot alot. When they first put up the light, there was a ton of traffic going through the light that didn't use that route before (myself included), and majority of those folks didn't come close to obeying the speed limit. Now that they've adjusted the redlight to last for.flippin.ever. it seems that more people are turning onto 278 and taking Butler Industrial again.
  19. We were there both days. We were there a loooong time Saturday, then preggo here started craving funnel cake and came back. But I missed the 'Your eyes are red' conversation - it explains why she spent so long looking in the mirror last night. She said she was 'trying to see her eyes from her brain, not the mirror!'
  20. I've got awhile. I'm almost 13 weeks, soo....October sometime? I found out with Mini-Me at 16 weeks, so I'm going to try and schedule this one for 17 weeks and 1 day....which is her birthday/the 7th. I think it'd be an awesome birthday present since she's so nuts about this whole baby thing.
  21. Awww - October 7th is a GREAT birthday!!! That's the day my daughter was born (I was induced on the 6th). Byyy the way, I had a hormonally-induced temper tantrum last night regarding my hatred for the name Cash and the fact that he insists that we not only name our child that but actually call him that instead of his first name. He said if I agreed to leave the boy name alone, then I can name the kid Meadow June Clover if it's a girl. Pray for a girl. Pleeeease, let it be a girl!
  22. I can't remember which form it was, nor can I find it, but there was something sent home at the beginning of the school year that had this information on it. Maybe the school can answer you? It had something to do with riding the bus and parents needing to be visible for children under a certain age when the child is dropped off, because the bus driver isn't allowed to let them go home to an empty house. It had the age you could stay home for different amount of times, and the how's/who's of reporting a child who was at home unsupervised.
  23. So far, this pregnancy has not been easy on me. Between the sickness, fatigue, passing out, and pinched nerve in my spine, I'm already ready to be 27 weeks farther along and done with it all. BUT(!), there's always a bright side, and the bright side would be Mini-Me. I don't know what's gotten into her, but she's become my little battle buddy of sorts. Tonight she gave up what she wanted for dinner for something more bland because 'It'll probably hurt less coming back up'. I about died laughing. Then she turned around and got lemonade to drink instead of tea or soda because it's 'not fai
  24. I so didn't recognize Michael Bolton without the hair. I'm excited Jennifer Grey is on it this year, but I could do without Brandi. I grew up when she was still a star and had her own tv show...I'm all Brandi'd out, I think. Done with the Hoff - I hope he stinks enough to get voted off first.
