  5. Now that's funny ... You know like you believing that Nitr0 is the exception to the statement that perfection eludes us all. I'm ROTFLMAO. pubby
  6. Paulding Deputies actually do write accident reports ... although they don't write all accident reports. That point was made at the last commission meeting. We had a battery fail or I'd have been able to point to a specific bit of video tape. pubby
  7. Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee spoke to Paulding's chamber gathered Thursday and told the story of how the county, with the Braves organization, overcame rabid skepticism, negative press and unfounded allegations to put together a successful p3 (public-private-partnership) effort that will bring Braves baseball to Cobb County. His comments to the county's business leaders was summed up in the remarks above. We will be uploading Lee's complete remarks shortly. 8. I think it is because they play to the prejudices of their audience who need daily confirmation of their fear-based biased agenda. It is the way they build audience. If they were after a younger audience they'd go full-bore porn. Alternately, the youth might watch twich.tv's 'games in progress' - about 48 million uniques a month do with an average viewer time spent of over an hour. I don't particularly blame them given they can be certain the illusions they see in a virtual game are unreal whereas the news coming from different directions seems to just be pretend spin (including Fox)
  9. Martina, you seem to forget that the splost money is subdivided with specific percentages going to parks and rec; other specific budgets are set for fire protection and yet another separate amount for the SO/public safety/911. All that is set up before the SPLOST is passed and is part of the 'law' as passed by the electorate. The notion you can move funds from one budget to another is a fiction. pubby
  10. Actually Martina; one group is arguing that as a solution. The other is saying that if we have any intention of getting that facility out of the red in the next few years instead of ten to twenty years, we need to take the small commercial airport option as it will not only only provide a new income stream but will hype the site for industrial/commercial/general aviation purposes. pubby PS: Commercial jet aircraft flying at altitudes of one-to-four miles high fly over our heads every day and we have no control over that. To suggest we do is absurd.
  11. Tundra: Face it, you want David Austin to run the county the way you want it run without you having the responsibility. Clearly that is not going to happen and I, for one, am glad that neither you, Whitey, Thad or Patti are in charge. pubby
  12. Surepip: Paulding doesn't have a 'corner' on the NIMBY population. There are NIMBY's everywhere ... Tundra: Dare you to a general election for a real count. The people that want to dispense with the three-hour daily commute didn't vote May 20th ... they were still on the road. Anything, including a toll road that might make it easier for them to get home earlier (in time to vote) is what the NIMBYs are against. pubby
  13. How silly of us to not grasp you want a curb cut so you can drive directly onto the limited-access, high-speed toll road free and risk a semi-tractor traveling at 80mph whacking you broadside as you make a trip to the local beer joint. I would never have guessed that anyone wants personal access to a limited access highway designed to move people safely - a lot more safely than open-access highways with hundreds of driveway cuts. I mean we've been construction safer, limited-access highways for some many years and they've always had controlled interchanges because those kinds of traffic
  14. Amazingly enough, the woman, who is a converted Christian btw, would have been able to walk by denouncing her faith and I guess the reason that TP brought it up is because he thought her devotion to her faith in the face of death might be inspiring, Guard Dad. That is the way I saw it and why I was perplexed by your antagonistic response. It seemed out of place. pubby
  15. Good God man; is that a chip on your shoulder or are you a closet Muslim? pubby
  16. Actually, if you click on the bold dot (or if you've posted in a topic, the star) to the left of the title, the new board takes you to your 'last unread' post. If you click on the date/time of the last post, it takes you to the very last post and if you click on the title, it takes you to the first post. This is true whether in the forum view or recent topics. What has been added to recent topics is the ability to preview a topic by waving your mouse over the space between the topic title and the last poster. You'll see a button appear that will display a portion of the opening post
  17. I think you're wrong about them being haters. If I'm right about what you're talking about, I think you're mistaking love for a tradition that was accepted without critical thought for hatred. Just as the owner of the Washington professional football team is good with the team name Redskins and means no disrespect by insisting on keeping it; those who object are wrong if they think the owner feels the hatred that once was associated with the name (as back in the Jacksonian era.) pubby
  18. The local airport as a destination will be limited in the beginning. It always will be. That is what advertising is about. The reality is that if you plug in 'Atlanta to NY' ... you'll get flight listings that include La Guardia, JFK, Newark, etc. in the listing options you'd typically organize from low to high cost. When the flights are there, they will be listed. It is incumbent upon the consumer to choose which airport and I suspect if they're coming to Dallas or Marietta and know anything about the area, they'd recognize it. If not, they may ask the question 'where is this' ... a
  19. Very few people carry a weapon anywhere because of their hate TP. They carry for other reasons and there are probably several. I suspect that fear is one reason (fear that someone will get the drop on you and you'll be unarmed and a victim - probably just about as many people who carry for the reason of hate don't carry because THEY WANT to be a victim. Yes, Mildred, some people want to be a victim in this way.) Still, I imagine some people carry because of prudence - I'll put the diamond merchant or even the cop or security guy in this category - it is not that they are afraid; jus
  20. That means the person who sent the PM has since deleted it from their list of PMs. Yours is the only copy and since it doesn't appear in their messenger window, you can't reply. pubby
  21. Dang Brer tundra: Could it be any worse. Are you sure it is not a Mexican drug cartel that is behind propeller? How about Columbian? Or better yet, why did you choose the Chinese? I mean, for all you know the money could be French or ... horrors ... it could come from Wall Street! pubby PS: Last time I looked it was all green
  22. I suspect that an ad agency will see this new law as an opportunity and tell everyone about it. They'll be news stories, there will be bits in the middle school and high school 'papers,' ... there may be a segment on the morning bulletin in the morning home room ... a letter sent to parents and students saying all this. It will only apply to the students that are computer saavy and can read anyway and the kids who have grown up in a nurturing parent household will discuss the issues with their parents and those who are being raised in the old-man rules the roost and slaps you down for do
  23. tundra: you remind me of brer fox ... or maybe brer bear. Now them folks down in Atlanta, with their protestations about how worthless this place is as an airport remind me of brer rabbit. And yes, I'd expect them to say that don't wan't nothing to do with that 10,000 acre briar patch they have out there south, east and west of Silver Comet Field. I think with the untold hundreds of thousands of dollars having been spent with multiple law firms to derail the effort at Silver Comet Field just how disinterested they are and how much they don't want to be thrown in that there briar p
  24. Yes, and the citizen group is seeking to organize themselves. You do know that Todd gets to appoint someone of his choosing ( you mean its not you???) so I suspect that someone from your group will be appointed. I think that's part of what they're trying to avoid is people in the audience complaining because this person was chosen and not that one as the citizen group has a big enough task ahead without making that 10 person committee a 30 person conglomeration. Since they are citizens actually trying to accomplish something I don't think they need much input from other citizens
