Pew research shows divisions expanding beyond realm of politics
gpatt0n replied to publisher1's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I can see folks got off on the politics rather than the key finding of the Pew Study, which is that the segregation between conservatives and liberals is based more on geography than ever before - with the liberals beginning to congregate in the cities and the conservatives being rural in their attitudes and abodes. Understanding the geography also helps people understand the attitudes as well. For instance, it is said that liberals accept living in smaller places in cities where they are immersed in urban culture that they walk to, to experience where as conservatives long to live in the -
There was a tort there ... and depending on how it was presented and how the child reacted, it was a psychological trauma, especially for a child that age. Think mental pain and anguish. More than that, though, is the reaction of most everyone to the idea that anyone would be so rude as to insist to a business manager that a third party needs to leave because their presence is disturbing. The epic fail here is that the manager didn't recognize how selfish the complainer was and tell them to hit the road. The fail however, comes from the notion of that the 'customer is always right' ...

I don't think they need to fired. I think the company needs to be sued and I figure the shame of a well publicized $50,000 judgment for egregious violation of the civil rights of the child paid by the stores insurance company would guarantee that the message that you don't pull such stupidity would be as enshrined a truth as the 212-degree coffee service. The reason that this happens is because people who are disfigured or disabled are largely self-limited. They will definitely come out in greater numbers and make their presence known, BTW, if there is a possibility that they could hit a

The point I was making is that war its self is terrifying ... I understand you guys like the idea of walking into Mickey D's with your AR-15s ... and don't understand that the mommas with their six-year olds are terrified at four camo-wearing bearded guys with 30 round magazines hanging on their shoulders. To you it is just you exercising your constitutional rights ... to the baby momma it is terror. When the people doing that don't share your culture, don't speak your language and have snarling dogs ... it is terror whether you want to admit it or not. Hell it was terrorizing wh

I was not trashing anyone; just being objective. Ask yourself if some foreign power - any foreign power - came here and thousands of people died, you'd not think well of the occupiers, no matter how nice they were. The fact is that with Georgia having 10 million residents and Iraq 30 million, you could divide those numbers by three. BUT This is important: The statement has nothing to do with anything other than the unintentional collateral damage that ALWAYS accompanies war. Actually, the figures are comparatively small for this conflict but given that war always carries

I actually think the conflict - even the conflict regarding the Revolutionary War - was more nuanced ... i.e. there are agendas at stake and among those are power. I think this example is more indicative of the deep sincerity regarding the principles in play than wiley coyote or even Bugs Bunny (who was also well known for that statement.) pubby -

So, which is it, do you select anarchy or totalitarianism over compromise pubby PS: The US Constitution, btw, chose compromise AKA: checks and balances. -

glassdogs: I've studied sales and have a good grasp of the process but when it comes to closing a sale ... well, I'm in contention for being the world's worst closer. I often wonder if I don't sabotage my sales by trying to sell. I know that LPPT added to my aversion by warning me off from practicing the sales game. pubby -

In recognition of the tendency of the kettle to call the pot black, let me remind all that it is those who find it amusing to spout terms like democraps with impunity that are awfully upset when others use some of the more creative acronyms created using the letter sequence GOP. It is in that context - call it the goose and gander equation - that any moderation would be exercised. pubby -
Wellstar Paulding President Mark Haney said that growth in service at the new hospital is in some cases years ahead of projections. In a 40-minute talk Haney talked about his baby which promises to be both a catalyst for growth in Wellstar and in the community in general. I suppose I should pay more attention to his posts ... but I admit I ignore about 90 percent of them - don't go in them unless I think he's bumping his own posts to keep his topics on top in which case I will likely combine them or move the to the political forum. I have to admit the observation of Nice green and even cmorg in this topic seem to express the problem better than the multitude of complaints that were as loud, absurd and demeaning to read as the posts that were the subject of the complaint ... oh and predictable and poorly argued. Most of the time those doing the complaini -

Actually I agree with virtually everything you say ... down to the award for provocative titles that too often reward one with the same old, same old. (TP knows that I've been personally critical of some of his antics for some time.) The first point though was me posting opinions that obviously were not universally held as admin on the board. Given the lack of a top-down hierarchy of online boards, I didn't think much of it but then being a democrat with a more 'democratic' everyone-is-equal attitude, I am not as sensitive to those whose support for top down hierarchies tends toward the -

I don't know, I'm watching 'through the worm hole ... and will follow that with The Daily show ... want to hear his take on Cantor. I can see that the earlier effort to keep the topic 'on topic' however, failed miserably. In an effort to bring it back around, let me leave this link. All I'll say is that it is a link that keeps you on the site. pubby -
I think Whitey that the votes for the studio were unanimous. I don't recall there being - at least initially - division on the issue. Oh, and who cares what channel 46 says (They are probably just pandering to the NIMBYs in the vicinity.) pubby

Pretty good number of posts there dogs... Oh, and as an aside ... my first company was called Tarascan (back in Arkansas) ... later to become neomax-tarascan and finally in the internet age neomaxcom. Two things ... the numbers and listings on the front timed out ever 15 minutes. I understand your lack of understanding regarding the statistics and that's okay ... Hell you're from Missouri As far as your distaste for not only TP but LPPT and others and suggestion of how I ought to ban them all glassdogs ... I've been around online message boards from the mid-1990s and I've seen ban-happy boards - successful boards - implode in a matter of hours. pubby PS: I'm not now nor have I ever considered myself a good salesman. As we stand right now I would wager that our audience still -

Dana: Not a problem. I split it pubby -
Dana: I've never understood it. My greatest concern is that you bringing it up - her post was thankfully being ignored - will derail what is otherwise a productive conversation. That said, I'm going to do a thing or two and when I come back, if the topic is still going down that path, I'll split it because I'm really more interested in other aspects brought forth. (Notably, everyone, I'm not setting it invisible ... just splitting the topic.) pubby
