  1. Actually, we have a verbal and have had since last night. It is my fault because I haven't called them yet to get the payment. pubby
  2. I'm working to complete the deal with SSIAE ... and will up the membership as soon as I get time to make the connection PS: Thanks to surepip, we gotta deal pubby
  3. Things don't seem to make as much sense as we thought they did. I mean it used to be that if you got a band together, played some music, got a hit 45, you'd be rolling in the money. Today, you may make a few bucks from a record but mostly, folks who listen will go on youtube or a music-site where you'll be lucky if you get a dime for each download. Markets like music, tv and all sorts of data seems to be vastly different. We also hear about things like self-driving cars, computerized factories and warehouses that employ five percent of the number of people they used to do. Ho
  4. D: the Historic town square wasn't really anything more than a road in front. It didn't become the town square until sometime around 2006 when the renovation was done. It is on the plaque. I remember it being a pain because we lost a lot of downtown parking, had issues with mud coming in the door when they were redoing the sidewalks and some of the videos taken when the Mexican restaurant was there where the city cafe is now. pubby
  5. Amazon was granted a patent that basically describes a typical photography studio setup used by commercial photographers for decades to take product photography. You've seen them everywhere - photos of products from automobiles to consumer products taken against a white background. Apparently sometime around 1910, when photography entered its second century and electric lights were common, photographers began taking pictures of items against white backgrounds for advertising, for catalogs and for other uses including filing patents. Now about 97 years later Amazon, which apparently
  6. I had the same thought and realized that it was probably his sister - maybe 10-11 years old - who went over saw him and ran to get mommy. pubby
  7. tundra: Dang ... and you had just about convinced me all of them were secret Tell you what tundra ... maybe we can agree that all executive sessions are simply off-the-record exchanges where the elected officials can speak freely without concern that their statements, concerns and fears about particular situations, including individuals and negotiations, will be disclosed and publicized. I actually think that board members and even legal counsel have an overly restrictive view of the deliberations that take place in executive sessions. These are not secrecy laws, the purpose of t
  8. Above are four videos organized into a playlist that show much of today's Paulding Board of Commissioners meeting. The first in the list shows the failed effort by Post 2 Commissioner Todd Pownall to adjourn the meeting in to executive session. Pownall wanted the commission, which was missing chairman David Austin today due to a mishap by his wife, to meet in secret. Pownall said he wanted to discuss a matter of litigation with county manager Michael Jones, Water Department head Michael Carter and county attorney Jason Phillips. The balance of the commission declined to retreat into s
  9. It is in the space between US 278 and the new county Administration Building (where you get your tags or vote). pubby
  10. If you were wondering what the flags were doing in the median of US 278 going to Dallas today, wonder no more ... Paulding's veterans Park was dedicated today, May 10 in ceremonies beginning at 10 am. An estimated 400 people attended the event despite the threatening weather. While tents were erected the sodded ground a bit soft, the event was high and dry. Presentations were made honoring each branch of the armed services and the list of the county's fallen by conflict was read. The new park featured the Veteran pavilion as well as an amphitheater, walking trail and other am
  11. It was interesting reading Whitey: That said it is there are basically two points to the suit. The first I'll discuss is the violation of the open meetings law. This was sloppy work on the part of the IBA's attorney. In the interest of time and largely because no one ever complained about the specifics of the law, the minutes and process used to enter into the closed sessions were flawed. One of the flaws was that the reason for the executive session was not delineated or specified in great detail and they simply said verbally they were going to retire to executive session to disc
  12. I hope you find your way to the Democratic ballot on (or before) May 20. It is our only chance to have a real election where the majority of people will vote. The anti-airport crowd wants to decide this election in the primary when probably fewer than one-in-six or seven voters even trek to the polls. pubby
  13. I'm surprised you went all the way to Illinois to pull that (little known) gem from the history book tundra but then again, you're from up that way anyway. Me, I'd have looked no further than Senate District 31 where the incumbent (now) is proud of his reputation that he will assassinate the character of anyone who runs against him 'even if he has to make up the mud he slings.' (Note: His mailers that Mason Rountree would open sex shoppes in Dallas) Yes, it is legal but no less deplorable. I do think people need to read the SCOTUS law regarding their slanders of politicians, thou
  14. cptlo: Not amongst policy wonks. Some people interested in policy and what government should and should not do, really don't try to force their position on folks by threatening repercussions on the politicians reputation or family. Rather intelligent, policy-oriented people try to present issues in terms of logic and seek to justify or promote policies that improve the lot of the greatest number of people with the least downside for others. I understand your mistaking this approach as the driving force of politics. I personally believe that if this is actually how anyone thinks we
  15. A state senator in Oklahoma didn't genuflect and agree to push through a bill passed by the Oklahoma house out-lawing "agenda 21" at the behest of a Tea Party leader and earned his ire. Yep, the tea party leader said if he didn't get the anti-agenda 21 law moving he would dig deep into the state senator's history, his families history and would find something embarrassing and he would expose it. To avoid that fate, the man said, he just needed to do something by bury the house bill in committee and tell his colleagues something besides this is a law about a non-existent problem. The
  16. Paulding's Business Association luncheon today featured the dean of the Paulding delegation, District 17 Representative Howard Maxwell. Maxwell's comments covered a broad range of topics from health care and retirement to the challenges parents face in dealing with their schools. A former Paulding School Board member and chairman, Maxwell has served in the Georgia General Assembly since 2002. Confronted by a parent, Maxwell said it will probably taken parents beating up on their local school boards for them to respond to the needs of gifted children. Click for
  17. Want to know how to make millions poisoning everyone? This is a trailer for a documentary film on HBO that I watched last night after I saw this trailer on youtube. Guess who the ultimate culprit is ... or at least one of the major evil conspirators. You guessed it - Big Tobacco. pubby
  18. The word is that activity on the four-laning of GA 92 from Hiram to Douglasville is ramping up and will be an active issue over the next couple of years. pubby
  19. FYI: I've sat face to face with stradial on many occasions and I don't believe he considers me an arrogant asshole just as he also knows that he's about as far away from being a 'persnickety princess' as is the character Shrek pubby Fact is, there are aspects to stradial's persona that remind me greatly of the green ogre of animated movie fame - including but not limited to his sense of humor.
  20. Stradial: The answer was how many flights? They've got maybe two a week that they have a commitment on. They hope to get airlines to come in and offer up to 12 a day but that may take years to come to fruition largely because the airline companies would have to commit. They haven't and they can't make them and most probably they won't be able to make such announcements until they're in operation. pubby
  21. If you're images are 10 megapixels ... they may be larger than 3mb. A whole full computer screen - even at full HD is 1920x1080 pixels and a 10 megapixel image is like 4-5 times larger. That is the first thing to think about. *(Most cameras will let you lower the 'pixel count' to sizes like 2, 5, or 7 megapixels and you'll get like three or four times as many pictures on a SD card if you do ... and if you aren't planning to make poster-sized prints, any use you make of the snapshot will be indistinguishable.) Second, try this link and see if you need to delete some photos. I recall yo
  22. The City of Hiram will be hosting the first Public Meeting concerning the Paulding Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) Update. 23. You're right about other students enrolled in other schools. While I won't suggest or condone the editorial tone of the site, I'm not sure that the school administrators have not, if they suspended the 'author,' exceeded their authority. Legally they may have grounds for forcing the disassociation of the site from the school under some sort of use of trademark law but as far as a government entity censoring the site or other wise sanctioning the youth on the basis of his off-site publication; the first amendment is pretty clear in its prohibition by the government. Of course a direct or
