Because it is so readily available in our area, this is just an FYI on bermuda hay. If you open a bale and it just falls apart you really should not feed it to the older horses. This hay has been "short cut" and as such can actually tangle in a horse stomach causeing a colic. The only reason I wanted to let you know is cause I feed burmuda to both my horses and one is 26. Again if the hay is long cut it is not a problem. It also depends on how much water your horse drinks. Just to be on the safe side (and particulary this time of year when some horses just "forget" to drink) soak alfala

Yup. Sometimes "no good deed goes unpunished" but maybe they are just out of pocket and really were not able to do the right thing.
