I may not have all the details correct, however I think that "staph" bacteria is commonly found on everybody, and that it is common for an abcess to form on one's face because of the concentration in their nasal area.

Recently a family member had an abcess on her cheek, which was diagnosed as a staph infection, after her test results came back it was upgraded to MRSA, which is a more serious infection than can be resistant to anti-biotics.

Pray that it is not MRSA.
