  1. I gotta tell ya, especially together, I wouldn't think twice...not necessarily for a Target trip, but a few minutes to run into a gas station, pick up take out, etc. Heck, I think 13 is a fine age to stay home alone for a few hours at a time.
  2. I actually remember my mom leaving me in the car when I was about 7...a man jumped in to steal the car, saw me in the back seat and walked away. My mom was horrified....and that was 20+ years ago. A fluke, no doubt...problem is now a days, I'm not sure a kid in the back seat would stop people. Still, I do believe a lot has to do with where. I'm in Cobb. In the ghetto. There's no way.
  3. I'm watching the Oprah about the woman that killed 7 people drunk driving. They're railing on the woman for leaving the kids in the car while she went into a gas station to get something. I also read once where a woman was arrested for leaving her sleeping children in a car while she went to drop some change in the salvation army bucket at Christmas. The car was parked within sight on the curb. I have a 7 year old and I do not leave him in the car alone, with one exception, which is to put the shopping cart in the corral. I'm of mixed feeling. I don't know what age is "appropr
  4. My grandmother - she overcame so much, and retired 35 years as an engineer with motorola without a college education. She has inspired me to be who I am, she's amazing. She taught me the power of personality, hard work and never, ever taking no for an answer. Her retirement has been spent helping family first and herself last. My son, he inspires me daily with his life. We had some struggles early, but he has turned out so bright, so eager to learn and he makes me proud to be his mom every second of every day. My DBF - he's the smartest person I've ever met in my life.
  5. Next to the ipod, satellite radio is the greatest thing EVA!
  6. I have a TON, ton ton of childrens toys, clothes, books etc. to get rid of...all under 5 stuff. I have train sets with platforms, electronic reading learning tools, just a ton of stuff...almost all of it in perfect condition. I'd also like to "adopt" a couple of children for the holidays. Can one of the local charity/organizers get in touch? There was a beautiful woman that I donated to last year...she even wrote me to tell me about the child that took my son's power wheel. I can't remember her name, but she was so awesome at trucking all this stuff all over the area. I'd love
  7. ENJOY!! YOU WILL LOVE IT!! We went in the spring, we're going back in April and I hope that once DS is in high school, we'll be calling it home. It really is the greatest place on Earth. I'd move tomorrow id I could!
  8. MMC, we've only been together for 2 years! We still have a *little* ways to go...plus, we have kids, so it's something fun to do with them...opening little gifts.
  9. http://cache.gizmodo.com/gadgets/images/iProduct.gif WARNING: COLORFUL LANGUAGE I don't need no nasty PMs for putting this in the Cafe
  10. I've got my darlin and my little darling left and I'm DONE with Christmas shopping. The little guy will be pretty easy, but what to get the big one??? We keep it to $100...any suggestions? I kinda want to do neat gadgets. I did find this, if you have a hubby that hates getting out of bed. http://www.firebox.com/product/1681/Flying-Alarm-Clock It won't turn off until you physically get up and put the flyer back in the base.
  11. I have seen Evita, JCS, and Phantom...of the ones you mention. I'm not a huge ALW fan; I've actually seen far better composition, but you're right in everything you said. He's very easy to digest. If you're not a big theater person, you'll love it...and if you are, you'll like it a whole lot. I'd say that he's got it pretty good! LND will have to be good. It's the sequel to the most popular and widely seen musical of all time. I just simply can't see him putting out something that isn't out of this world. I'm sure that the critics wil be...well, critical...but they're critical of a
  12. I can't WAIT to see Love Never Dies...literally. I've been following it for a year waiting for it to debut. I am jumping out of my skin with excitement!! It's going to set the stage A BLAZE in 2010.
  13. It is quite shocking! And sad They say it's early stages. I wonder if the mods will censor my title? Can you use people's name in title threads? What about cancer types? What would you use? "Phantom" Composer has cell mutations in sack area The things I ponder when it rains...
  14. http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/10/2...ancer/index.htm (CNN) -- Andrew Lloyd Webber, the award-winning composer and producer of more than a dozen musicals including "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Cats," has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, a spokeswoman said Sunday. In September, Lloyd Webber celebrated the 9,000th performance of "The Phantom of the Opera." Good Lord, I wish him a speedy recovery. He has so much to celebrate next year. I feel the need to see Phantom over the holiday.
  15. Lumak...good thoughts. I really don't think anyone got truley bent around the axle by that thread. I laughed...as did others. Laughing burns calories.
  16. I have a 50D and I also love mine. It's fairly easy to use, but you'll need to make the new lens investments. Digital photography will never look and feel the same as film, just be prepared for that. I started with a Rebel, the a 40D and now a 50D...so it's obvious that I endorse Canon.
  17. Ours are also Christmas, with Biblical verse quote...but, that's just for friends and family. We have to do the 'Holiday Cards' for the company folks -- thankfully we don't have to pay for those! Stamped and addressed huh? Well, I'm really behind the 8 ball.
  18. whhhhaaaaaaattttt???? That's so cool!!! Have a great time, enjoy the family and ask Barack if I can borrow $20. He owes me. Save and happy travels!
  19. I like the exposures site, but they're MORE expensive... I just don't know if I want to spend $200 on cards that people will just toss.
  20. I'm looking for online so that we can put our photos in them...I like tinyprints, but they're pricey for the number of cards that we have to send. Shutterfly is ok, but I hate the damn logo on the back.
  21. Where do you get your holiday cards? What are some of your favorite biblical verses or sayings for the inside?
  22. I just saw this on Dr. Phil and I'm balling! www.aholeintheroof.com Now I'm watching the part of Coach Broyles from Arkansas. There is a whole lot of negativity on TV, it's so refreshing to spend an hour watching people do good things.
  23. Memphis! I love me some Memphis, Randevouz ribs, Mud Island, Beale Street.... Such a killer fun city! I have a good bit of down time, would love to hear anyone's suggestions! I also need suggestions on restaurants...some place fit for business entertainment. I've never been there for anything more than fun!
  24. I guessed I missed it...I was only kidding anyways I think they should take away his BMW and give it to me! Good job, fellas!
