  1. For anyone that interested! 101 Dalmatians, Fiddler on the Roof and Mary Poppins starting at $71/ticket. Super deal! http://www.atlantabroadwayseries.com/
  2. Seriously, no monty python quotes yet? Y'all disappoint me.
  3. surprises. They're unknown things that happen to people. For instance, your long distance aunt tells you on the phone, "I have a surprise for you when you come up" and your trip is 3 months away. Or your husband tells you, "I got the greatest news to tell you - but it's going to have to wait until I'm 100% certain." Drives me nuts. I'd rather not known that there's something waiting.
  4. I, for one, do not. I especially don't like them when you know that there's a long wait to find out.
  5. Just following up on my hunch with the click of username. I guess all of his "customers" and "friends" from pcom were on a month long hiatus too. How amazingly coincidental! them chickens jackin' my style Happy Wednesday!
  6. [ Eta: phones are a bad medium to post! Sleep well!
  7. Rockstar - it's a cute idea, but I don't have any suggestions. All the "rockstars" I've known have been the dark, sad, emo type. Maybe you can do it in the theme of happy 80's rockstars, like Van Halen. Flourescent colors and some fun Disney type music (like that Highschool Rock show).
  8. OMG - Ava! I always wanted to name my little girl Ava Grace (but no one I knew spelled it with an A). Enjoy the name, it's a beautiful one! Congrats KRGM.
  9. Makes me thankful I have a boy! $100 for a doll? Thought...I remember when the Cabbage Patch Kids were $100!! And I had 2!
  10. Really? Do kids PLAY with them, or they collectables?
  11. I'm gone for 30 days, you're gone for 30 days. I'm back for ONE day - and look who starts posting again. Creepy.
  12. So what do you think of the American Doll craze? I admit that I've never actually seen one - I assume that they're porcealin dolls? That's why they're $100? What do you think about this homeless doll? http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/home...Lacpfo8HQbczsQM I couldn't help but laugh. I really think it just goes to show how removed rich folks are from the plight of our country - and I actually think that it's embarrassing that we position a homeless doll as an "American Girl" - as if it's something we're proud of? That we have this emense homeless population. And to use a $100 dol
  13. Paint! drapes can be made with some fabric from the fabric store and stich witch (though I'd recommend sewing) Find an old bed frame or use some plywood and add batting and fabric! Perfect headboard. Distressing chairs (mix and match - paint them all black) is easy - cover them all with different, fun and complimentary patterns and viola! chappy chic! cluster! Cluster anything - old postcards in old frames, old vases, old bottles, pins on a canvas - whatever! Old books - I'm talking the ones for 10 cents, on ikea floating shelves. This looks awesome when you color cluster!
  14. The weight of the study takes into account varied genetic predispositions - or should. While most drugs only come to market after independant reviews of the clinical development and trials, it's still important to be aware that these reviewers are being paid by the drug companies. And just a friendly reminder about the H1N1, the federal government has granted immunity from lawsuits for makers of the H1N1 vaccine, which has been in testing since July of 2009. Think about this stuff before you stick your kids, please.
  15. Here's an interesting tidbit about medical studies. If Jane is part of the Gardisil study, and Jane dies in a car accident while participating in this study, Jane's death is considered a death in the study. However, there's more than just studies to indicate that this drug was pushed to market way too fast. One of the biggest indicators of a drug's risk is how long the disease that it is treating has been around. That's why there's so many "generations" to medication. Don't ever take a first gen pharma unless you have absolutely no choice.
  16. And sadly, they think they're 'making it big' if they make $20/hour. They're not exposed, by their parents, to anything other than country living (in most cases). My son's father is a red neck. My son goes to Durham Town with his daddy and to NYC with me. But, at the end of the day, I'm the one that makes the decision where he goes to school and I'm the one that controls his studies. And there's an obvious reason for this - my ex doesn't understand why he needs to go to bed at 8:30 at night.
  17. You can see it here. http://www.miltoneaglesfootball.com/facilities.html
  18. I was hoping you'd chime in as I love your culinary advice. Any suggestions for finer dining in DC? I'm also in the process of planning our trip to Napa over Thanksgiving. I'm ALL ears on which vineyards to visit!
  19. If a PARENT or other figure of importance does not participate in a child's education - THEY WILL FAIL. On a very rare occassion, you'll have someone that will beat the odds. If a hardship prevents you from having the internet and accessing (or having the wherewithall to know to access) the used books on Amazon, you probably have other socioeconomical elements that will stunt the child's ability to succeed to their full potential.
  20. If you have access to pcom, you have access to Amazon. I'm sure that they have the books. I'm not sure how else to say it...but, if a child isn't comprehending something that the rest of the class is, and the parent isn't helping them to learn, they're going to fail - and when you have multiple children like that, they cripple the teacher from moving on to teaching more advanced subject matter.
  21. A good football team and your kid's school can look like this
  22. I watched it the first year. What's wrong with her?
