I find this very telling. Why would some one who comes from this not want the same for all poor children? Do you know who this is about? Hint: She is very famous, and most would also consider her very successful.

The poor can get out of where they want. They first have to stop being slaves. They have to stop thinking like a slave. We as a society must encourage the poor to take a step towards their own wealth. Stop blaming some one else for your "station" stop believing the victim crap.

There are still teachers that don't have the time to teach the basics. And, there are still teachers that discourage parents from teaching their own children, or even adding to what is being taught in class. I have run into both in all the years my children have been in school. Is the middle class really disappearing? Or has the bar been raised to the point that even what we considered middle class is now considered lower class? What is middle class exactly? If you have a modest three bedroom one bath home, and your income is 40-50k are you middle class? What if you rent said home and, make 25-35k? Are classes based on the stuff you own? Cursive is not taught anymore. There's no need for it. There was a discussion on this in the school vent. BTW, even though I'm not a teacher I do think that every kid must know cursive. Now when this gets moved to the school vent, you will have a couple of "educators" (at least that's what they claim) come in, and basically tell you, "you don't know anything, just leave the teaching to us experts." I sobbed like a baby when my baby walked those halls. Now he is a 7th grader. God knows it has gone by too fast. Mine has also said when he is playing for the NFL he is going to take care of us. He was in the 4th/5th grade at the time too.
