  1. There definitely is! The food stamp program is too generous and there is a lot of waste. People on welfare can get their rent paid, their utilities paid, their food bought, medical insurance and get a check to boot. Why work when you get all that? Many people on welfare live better than I do, and my husband works 7 days a week.
  2. This world has gone wacky. GMA had a story this morning about the kid that was gonna put bombs at his high school, you got the kid in FL last month that butchered his parents and then threw a party. There is too much insane-ness going on anymore. What is wrong with the younger generation?? I know violence has always been around, but you have to notice it is getting worse unless you are blind.
  3. Hopefully it will be found and soon. I had a car stolen when I was a teenager. They found it several days later on Sparks Ave in Atlanta. The idiots who stole it drove it til it ran out of gas and then left it abandoned. They took all my stuff out of there including my high school letter jacket, but the car was fine (mechanically) just filthy. There was blunt paper and pot seeds/stems all in it. They never caught the thief.
  4. Yeah it is pretty rough in here. And yep there are at least 2 sex offenders. One lives on the next street down from my house. :/ We can't wait to get out of here. We owned our first home in here back in 2006 (lost it to foreclosure though). The neighborhood was kinda nice back then, but now its full of foreclosures and renters and it is going to he77 in a handbasket.
  5. It's bad in Southern Trace in Y'ville too. Ive seen people move out and see their outdoor grills and stuff taken from their home the very same night they leave before they could come back and get it. People in here watch, and if you leave stuff out, there's a good chance it will get stolen. I love Yorkville, but HATE Southern Trace.
  6. I tend to do this. I know how it feels to sit forever and nobody will let you turn into traffic or change lanes so I try to help people out. I will not stop traffic to do it though, if Im already stopped I'll let a car or two ahead of me if they need to turn or change lanes.
  7. Yep! I got a $300+ ticket one time for getting in the turn lane too soon in Marietta. I learned my lesson about that. "Made contact" can simply mean they spoke with her. Im not sure if PCSO can give out a lot of details on the stop on here due to legal reasons. Im not really sure. But I am GLAD she at least was "made contact" with. She needs to know she's not above the law. Kudos to our police!!
  8. No way. Entrapment is when someone is persuaded to commit a crime. She is doing this on her own free will. Edit - to clarify it is when someone is persuaded by *law enforcement to commit a crime. Definitely doesnt fit here.
  9. I don't understand how she does this every day and hasn't either gotten a ticket or killed someone. She needs to have her license taken away if you ask me and ride a bus, she doesnt need to be on the roads that is insane.
  10. I think really the only thing you can do is mark them as spam. I get them all the time too.
  11. I wonder that also. They issue citations for people running red lights that is caught on camera so I dont see why they couldnt. I would report the CRAZY BAT.
  12. I ordered mine a week or so ago. It took me several tries to get thru, and I just got the UPC online since I dont buy Cottonelle. It's free so why not!!
  13. That's what I have been saying all along. $3.20 seems cheap compared to $3.89. WSB was saying this morning that gas was $2.68 one year ago. Hurricane season peaks soon too so Im not very optimistic about seeing gas below $3.30/gallon anytime soon.
  14. This reminds me of the bit on Fox 5 a few days ago. Clayton County had some kind of glitch or something and a bunch of people didnt get their foodstamps. Those people were complaining, "how are my kids going to eat"? Well in my opinion, you should get out and do what you gotta do! This is what happens when you depend on the govt! One lady said she gets $1000 a MONTH food stamps, and she only had 17 cents left at the end of the month. What in the h..??? Did anyone else see that story?
  15. Its awful there. It has gotten as bad if not worse as Campbell Creek Apts used to be. Ive heard Campbell Creek is under new mgmt and has improved but it was pretty bad about 10 years ago. Merchants Court is full of drugs and dealers.
  16. http://www.amazonservices.com/content/sell-on-amazon.htm?ld=AZFSSOA#pricing Go to this link to get started. Its really easy to setup and best part of it all - NO PayPal required!
  17. I don't care what restaurant it is, when I eat Chinese food, I eat chicken or shrimp entrees only. I will not eat any chinese beef!! I always eat at House of China BTW in the Plaza. Tastes good to me!
  18. There is an extended stay hotel over by the Huddle House I am pretty sure! I know a good bit of the people in Merchant's Court work on the strip I see them walking to work all the time. Merchant's Court was nice when it was first built, but man it has went downhill. I've heard some horror stories about that place.
  19. We have the people with backpacks in our neighborhood but it is teenagers mostly. It's actually pretty common to see it anywhere. I always assumed their belongings are in there so they don't have to carry it, like iPods or clothes or whatever. When my grandparents were robbed a lawn mower was taken, copper wiring, etc. Its happening way too much anymore.
  20. Oh yeah eBay went down the toilet and has become a joke. I became a seller on there in 2005 and did it for several years, but they kept raising fees to the point where most of the small-time sellers had to leave because its just not cost effective to sell on there anymore unless your a 10,000+ a month power seller. And yes most of the average guy sellers fled to Amazon.
  21. Crime is up in Paulding period. People are broke and doing stupid things. BOTH of my grandparents have been robbed this year.
  22. Yes! They are no see ums. I keep welps on my legs too from them and the itch from it is really bad.
  23. I would let them search. If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about. If by chance there IS a wrongful arrest, sue the crap out of them. I was searched one time a long time ago because I was talking to a friend in a parking lot when I was a teenager and the cashier called the cops saying a drug deal was going down. LOL I let them search, they found nothing and I boycott that store to this day because of it. (and no there was no drugs involved we were just talking!)
  24. I grew up on Bert and Ernie - LOVED them. It never once crossed my mind even for a milisecond that they were anything other than friends.
  25. The best way to weed out scammers is buy them food if they say they are hungry instead of handing them cash. Im fine with helping people that really need it, but my husband works HARD for his money, he works 7 days a week at the moment just so we can scrape by, so we dont freely give out the money. Its too bad it has come to this point.
