  2. Welcome to Pcom! The book looks great - congratulations on such a wonderful accomplishment!
  3. in Dallas, near the railroad tracks? TIA!
  4. But do they have visitor side bleachers and food in the concession stand? Oh, wait....wrong topic! JK - that is a GREAT deal!
  5. I never went back to listen, either. When I turned on the scanner, they were 10-3 (emergency traffic only.) A lot of deputies looking for somebody, but I don't know why. I don't think they ever found him.
  6. Congratulations! How exciting....thanks for sharing with us!!!
  7. This was a couple of hours ago. Have you talked to her recently? If not, PM me, and let me know the kind of car she has.
  8. One of my FB friends alerted me to this story. Quite astonishing and sad. Eight Arrested in Stolen Vehicle Ring
  9. I was so disappointed I couldn't make it. I was busy with walk-in customers! I'm glad you all had a great time!!! Happy, Happy Day, Mr. Dis!!!
  10. One eastbound lane of 278 will be shut down for awhile (per Cleburne command.) Three patients. Calling for multiple wreckers. Asking to notify DOT that several signs are down. A dumptruck is involved. It's empty.
  11. I've bolded my argument. From what you listed, it's the latter part of point 1 & point 2. I believe it's all part of the same subject. If you want to debate point 3, have at it. That's not my original thought, although through the course of this discussion, it has come into play.
  12. I apologize if I didn't make myself clear earlier. I'm not asking anyone to dismiss or "throw out" the statistics that show Cobb students are more successful than Paulding. My question in this thread is WHY are Cobb schools considered to be better? I'm not ignoring the statistics, but I am aware (as I'm sure most on this board are) that statistics rely on MANY variables and can be skewed. Cobb county has more money to hire more teachers because they have more students in the system. I've asked people here to "think outside the box" and question WHY most consider Cobb to be bet
  13. I found the core classes listed on SPHS' website. I couldn't find that on any of the other schools' sites. When I have time, I'm going to call the area high schools to ask for a complete listing of classes offered/available.
  14. Your post (and others here) seem to affirm my belief that the Cobb County School System is NOT superior to Paulding's. Statistically, Cobb students perform better, but it seems to be a result of environment, parental involvement, demographics, student motivation, etc, not a result of better education offered by the school system itself. Thank you all for your thoughts and ideas. Give me more if you'd like!
  15. I will have to do some more research. On my son's school's website, I found the course offering for core classes, but no electives. I couldn't find any course information on any of the other high schools' sites. I will post what I find when I have a complete list. Thank you for posting!
  16. It's the one thing they do appreciate about me! (And that I know all the words to "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"!) PS - I think I saw you the other day coming out of your driveway! You should come to the breakfast tomorrow at Starbucks. You can come incognito. I won't tell!
  17. Okay, I gotta tell you. This is so hard for me to go all the way to Hiram, but if Madea AND Beach Bum are going to be there, I've got to figure out a way to make it!!!
  18. I'm glad someone appreciates me. Could you tell my husband and my kids how great I am?!
  19. Agreed. And just as the rest of the opinions in this thread have shown, the school systems themselves are not superior or inferior. That's a whole other can of worms!
  20. I understand you said, "MONEY." I'm aware that Cobb has more money per capita than Paulding, but how is the money being spent differently that provides a superior education? That's what I'm trying to understand. If my child is sitting in the same class in either Cobb or Paulding, and he is taught the same material, given a similar test, and makes the same grade, where is the difference? What did Cobb teach that Paulding did not? I'm not looking for how MUCH money is in the school system, but HOW it is spent. Where is the better education? (Not more expensive.) Maybe I s
