I am sorry this has happen to you.... But never use a debit card for other then getting cash from an ATM... Find a credit card and use it and pay it off every month. Debit cards have very little protection vice a Credit card.

LAWYER..... period.... If you insurance company does not help go for a Lawyer. If you try to negotiate a reason able settlement.... you will not get one. Don't even think of going to court without one. Been there done that and it got me nothing. If and when I get in my next accident, unless the other guys company is going to give me replacement or what I feel is a true fair market value. Go get a lawyer. You can ask for lawyers fees also, so you will not lose anything unless you are being unreasonable. I would go with a lawyer... Period.
