  1. Watching the President speak on NBC. I imagine all the networks and news stations are covering it. Heartbreaking, but..... "Gaby opened her eyes for the first time, Gaby opened her eyes". Praise God!

  4. He left about 9:00 so it has been awhile. Sounds by some of the other posts it is better now. That is a GOOD THING!
  5. DH attempted to go to work and got as far as Barrett Pkwy on 120. Cars were stuck and could not get up the hill that goes beside Home Depot. He is now safely back home.
  6. Several articles re: Jared Loughner: http://www.vindianz.com/lifestyle/in-arizona-anyone-concerned-can-report-odd-behavior-to-mental-health-experts-washington-post-081815.html Two interesting quotes from articles in the above link: 1) "Under Arizona law, any one of Jared Lee Loughner's classmates or teachers at Pima Community College so concerned about his increasingly bizarre behavior could have contacted local officials and asked that he be evaluated for mental illness and potentially committed for psychiatric treatment. " 2) "The best-known evidence of Loughner’s mental issues
  7. Especially when it is this tender and rare. OMGOSH. THANKS for sharing!!
  8. I don't have a summons but did read it on (FB) Attorney Elizabeth Osborne Williams yesterday that no one should report for jury duty this week that it had been canceled.
  9. Last night DH cooked a wonderful rare standing rib roast. So we will heat leftovers and cut up some potatoes for home fries. Not sure what else but I can make a meal off just the roast. YUMMMMMM.
  10. On the CBS Noon News they said there would not be any mail delivery - no mail to deliver! It is stuck on the big rigs on the interstate.
  11. Paul Ossman was discussing the lightening and thunder on 11Alive at some point the last couple of days. He said it will be light/pop all in one instance. Not the typical you see the lightening and then hear the thunder. He said it is not that uncommon in snow/ice storms. I know during the blizzard of 1993 DH was in the hospital in Montgomery, AL. I was sleeping on a cot and kept hearing thunder and seeing lightening against the walls. Snow had been predicted and when I heard the thunder I thought, "They missed it. We are only having a thunderstorm and rain." I was SHOCKED the next morning when
  12. A couple of years ago someone made the heat packs that you put in the microwave and then place on your back, neck, etc. I had one made but cannot remember who it was and don't know if she is even still on here. Anyone know the packs I am talking about or who on here might make them???? Or what they are filled with??? TIA for any information.
  13. NO it would not matter that it was today. I know who I would "unfriend" QUICK!!!
  14. A MESS - no question. It is sleeting right now on Bus. 6 which is only adding to the snow and ice already there.
  15. There was a day when the usps lived up to their motto. I remember as a child my sweet Granddaddy delivered mail REGARDLESS of the weather in rural Alabama, back in the day when many county roads were not paved! He delivered the mail for 47 years and I dare say he could count on one hand - with fingers left over - the number of days he did not deliver mail because of the weather. But, I had rather not get the mail than for people to risk their lives on these roads. Like someone else said, just a day I don't have to worry about WHO wants the money I don't have.
  16. THIRTEEN???? That is too funny. I doubt I could even come up with 13 names I like enough to give a child. Let us know what they put on the birth certificate.
  17. PRECIOUS!! What is his name? CONGRATULATIONS!

    where is

That is basically what I did after the original thread was posted. I am like you, I very seldom measure and just make it my own. But, this is basically what I did: 1 15 oz can of petite diced tomatoes 1 15 oz can of cream corn 1 15 oz can of whole corn 1 15 oz can of tomato sauce 1 can of BBQ Beef 1 can of BBQ Pork 1 can of diced chicken I cooked mine in the crock pot and let it cook about 4 hrs then I diced a couple of potatoes and added to cook another hour or so. A friend suggested spicy ketchup in place of the tomato sauce so I bought some (I'd never heard of it. LOL) a
  19. Yesterday morning DH and I were at Martin's and an elderly gentleman was breaking up his leftover biscuit and putting it in an empty coffee cup. His wife asked what he was doing and he said "taking it for the birds." It was just so sweet the way he said it.
  20. If anything they will be getting worse according to all the local news. On top of the snow will be ice pellets and freezing rain piling on the snow that is already on the ground. That will make traveling extremely dangerous!! Trying to get to work is not worth the risk.
  21. "Something" is falling pretty good out there.
  22. Heading to DD's house for Low Country Boil w/ shrimp, crab legs, sausage, corn on the cob, red potatoes Garlic Bread YUMMMMM.....and it will taste even better because I don't have to cook it OR clean up the MESS!!
  23. Waiting on the full report and will then flip over to 11Alive after they complete the end of the football game coverage.
  24. Gotcha taken care of! and to njills: If I cannot find the Alabama ones tomorrow or Monday (since I will be snowed in) I will call and order more.
