  1. I read that the woman suing had previously written a complimentary letter: A few months prior to resigning and filing the law suit, Jackson wrote a letter to Deen, praising Deen and Hiers, stating, “when I came to work for this company, as a person, I felt hopeless. I needed something, some opportunity that could provide me hope as an individual, as a woman, to make it on my own. At 15, homeless, without parents and with a young child, my life was headed in a direction no one could ever assume positive. As you know, I did what I had to do to survive, but it clearly was not the fr
  2. Thanks for answering that. I know there used to be some differences and didn't know about now.
  3. I thought about an online petition ... Signatures, anyone? But I understand his reasoning. Still maybe someone might find a combination that would work. Isn't there quite a bit spent at restaurants already in the area? If someone had something that really offered something that enough people wanted?
  4. In this video I posted before at about 4:25 minutes she talks about how when her Mother and Daddy died they weren't sure they would have a meal the next day. Does anyone know anything about why they were so dependent on her parents? I thought she was 19 and married when her daddy died and 23 when her mother died? She goes on to talk about how focused she was on avoiding her sons being in a situation where they went hungry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcHBdrkWT0o
  5. Surepip, have you thought about opening a restaurant? I don't eat meat but I would come for rolls and salad. It would be especially good if you grew a lot of your own fresh salad ingredients and vegetables---either at your home or had a restaurant with gardening/greenhouse space behind it. What do you say?
  6. I haven't read that much about this but did anyone else read that one issue was that some of the wait staff for special occasions were "paid" in beer and other alcohol rather that money? I know I read one black man said if I remember correctly that he didn't drink and had a baby on the way and needed to paid in money---which I understand. I was wondering if others working at the events were paid differently? Edited to add: Here's one link that describes this: Sheldon's story does not end there. He said, “Paula and Bubba just gave us beer and alcohol and I don’t even drink. She knew
  7. Dana, I see it's changed now. Were you able to do it yourself? I know some edit options used to be listed here that were available to paid members vs. regular unpaid ones. I know at one time one thing was that some levels of memberships allowed editing of posts for longer periods of time. I don't know if any of that has changed.
  8. Please post if you have the advanced edit option that includes the title as I'm just curious if you have to be a paid member to do that.
  9. I thought "brat" must be some musical term I wasn't familiar with. LOL As far as editing the title I know certain paid memberships have an advanced edit option to edit titles, but I think regular members are required to ask a mod to do it for you. Maybe someone else knows if that's still the case? (One way is to use the report button and ask a mod to do it.)
  10. Thanks for sharing how much you think of your wife.
  11. I watched the above video and clicked on another one where they were seated around the table eating and they were talking about when she was seeing a married man. I hadn't seen either before and know really very little about her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcHBdrkWT0o
  12. Yes, I know that's been the case but if schools don't teach cursive how will someone know how to write anything in cursive---including their name?
  13. Yes, I can and I use it to write something like a grocery list, or a to do list, etc. So in signing contracts, etc. do some people now print their "signature?"
  14. I've heard of some restaurants that have a garden in the back where they grow many of their salad ingredients fresh. I wonder where the closest one is ....
  15. I started a yahoo email group, ChristiansLocally. Here is the description and link in case someone wants to check it out. Please do! I decided to go in this direction for a few different reasons. I feel that the benefits of support can be had even if there is not enough interest right away for a formal support group. I encourage members to post an introduction with some general info including hobbies and interests, etc. and the general area where they live. (I decided not to confine the group just to our area since the need for social support and friendships are universal.) For example, two o

  18. Spunkywman, have you thought about joining the group for local Christians I recently started? I'd like to see groups sprout up throughout the country; maybe even around the world (Who knows right?) You've got a chance to be one of the first members. You can read more about it in a previous post in this thread. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ChristiansLocally/
  19. Have you considered eBay's Selling Assistant? http://www.ebaysellingassistant.com/
  20. The Mental Health America website offers a long list of support groups and other resources on their website: http://www.mentalhealthamerica.net/go/find_support_group
  21. Do you feel ok sharing what kind of organization it is?
  22. Postman, you probably remember when you'd hear about middle aged men having what was called a mid-life crisis? A man might buy a sports car, start having an affair with a younger woman, etc. They might lie to their wives and tell them they had a dinner appointment when instead they were meeting the other women. So in a case like that did they just start lying?
  23. Yes, and the pain you felt would be much greater with a spouse who you had built up trust in for 20 years.
  24. There has always been a certain number of people that lied, but do you think the younger generations are more accepting of lying, telling half truths, etc.? I also know that drug use, alcoholism, etc. seem to lead to lying.
  25. Yes, I think so. But if you just stated dating someone and you find out the person deceived you (say they went out on a date with someone when they told you they visiting their sick sister) it's just not going to have the same significance as it would if you had been married to the person for 20 years. Both are bad though.
