  1. Well I posted this elsewhere too and so far no one has a clue what happened. I had figured between here and elsewhere since there were some cops who hung out on here someone would have heard about it by now, but so far, no word as to what happened once the girl ran back into that subdivision and the woman and her boyfriend followed her. My bosses left once police arrived and as said, others were there too, so the kid didn't run back toward the road, but after that I have no idea.
  2. Just curious - who in here is a gadget addict enough to spring for an iPad when they come out? The Oscars last night had the 1st commercial for one on TV... q9KTnsGsd_0 dammit I can't embed it. Video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9KTnsGsd_0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9KTnsGsd_0
  3. Well, let's put it this way - where I come from in WV, if people found a toddler on the side of a very busy road, then the parent(s) had better prove they had a heart attack and the kid got loose that way, 'cause if it was a case of the parent not keeping a proper eye on the kid, the folks following it home would do a whoop-ass bit on the parents. In other words, there MIGHT be a slight chance of a legit excuse (kid was kidnapped, parent had a medical emergency that left them knocked out, etc)... but many times stuff like this happens because someone isn't watching their kids well enough and
  4. I have a feeling if that girl who followed her did find the parent, a can of "whoop-ass" was opened up.
  5. Anyone heard of this happening today.....? The owners of my company were driving down Highway 61, between Ridge Road and Nebo, and on the side of the road was a toddler, not even 2 years old, well dressed, and waving a store bag back and forth. Freaked them out. They stopped, and immediately 5 other cars behind them stopped to investigate. The little girl turned around and starting running up a side road toward a subdivision that was nearly 1/4 mile away. Everyone who stopped were freaked out but one younger woman and her boyfriend followed the toddler to see where she led them. Oth
  6. I thought this was an interesting story on Yahoo about the actress who portrayed the controversial character on the Family Guy that got Sarah Palin so upset... http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/18/family-guy-voice-actor-says-palin-does-not-have-a-sense-of-humor/?no_interstitial Bravo to that actress for speaking up, and having a good upbeat look on life (and making an excellent career for herself).
  7. Whether she was legally drunk or not, she obviously had been drinking, and she was frankly acting like a total ass. The officer tells you to sit down and answer questions - you DO IT. After, you ASK for a call. If they deny you your rights, you take it up with a lawyer LATER. You don't flop and flip around like an 8 year old from the ghetto who's after "da man". Since I have ZERO tolerance for drunks, I could care less if this chick lost a few teeth, even if the cop did do it. I personally love to see drunks feel some pain for their stupidity. Maybe if anything this might teach Darl
  8. Now this is a very interesting story that was on the BBC site as I was browsing around this morning - read it first: My link I had always thought of laptop tracking software as the LoJack type, but I guess I do rememeber something about some that you can activate a web cam with to capture a thief's face if they steal your laptop and start using it. Guess this is what the school was using. Either way, here's a blurb from that article that I have questions about: "The legal papers say: "As the laptops were routinely used by students and family members at home, it is believed that many
  9. Mine: "Aw hell, here comes the chicken wings from last night!!!!"
  10. First, the story: http://www.ajc.com/news/nation-world/obama-no-weeknight-television-308300.html?cxntlid=thbz_hm Funny - I know people who have said things to me like, "I can't get my kids to turn off their TVs", and, "I can't get them away from their computers". Usually (but not always) for the sake of arguing with parents, I don't ask them why they can't just turn the kid's TV off themselves or remove the kid's computers from their rooms if there's apparently a problem with this. If Obama figured it out, I would assume anyone who has a problem getting their kids to do their school w
  11. More details: You get 1000 minutes/texts for the $30 price, and unlimited of both for the $45 price. They use the Verizon network. Note: Per reviews, people tend to like the Motorola W385 phone they have over the more expensive Razr version - apparently the Razr is not a metal-bodied Razr like some other models, but the cheaper W385 is a lot more durable (based on web reviews I've read).

  13. Ok, someone had emailed me and asked for the most recent photo I had taken of her before this happened, so I'll post it. But I won't be posting more because while initially it helps to vent, continuously browsing over the photos and stuff is now making it worse, so this will be the last pic I post. I think taken about 3-4 weeks ago.. Ok. I'm gone. Got 2 hours of sleep last night and have only eaten 2 meals in 2 days, so I'm going to try to eat and sleep now as late as it is. Thanks again though for the comments.
  14. Thanks everyone.. I appreciate your words. Less than 24 hours after the event, I'm still in and out of the "It really happened - no... she's still here" stage, so it's gonna be a rough ride for a few days unfortunately. At least I've got a few days off from work due to the holidays, so can deal with it privately and spend time with the other dogs to get them adjusted, etc. Though the timing sucks in so many levels - now Christmas will always be remembered as "the time Lucy died" in my mind - not exactly a great thought when putting up a tree.
  15. I guess if there is only one good thing from this (if that's possible) is the timing. If I had been a few minutes later getting home, most likely she would have died here with no one around except the other dogs, and I would have come home from a long day of errands to find her like that. If I had arrived a few minutes earlier, I most likely would have taken her on one of those walks, and she most likely would have died while we were out walking. At least this way, both me and my roommate were home, and she got to see me before it happened. While I was on the phone with the emergency
  16. Today, I was out running around with my roommate to get supplies and usual company errands. Got home around 4pm and my three dogs were acting fine, let them out, and they did their business, etc. My Shepherd mix “Lucy” snuck back up to the back door, excited, as I sometimes sneak her back in and take her for a walk around the neighborhood – just her and me as a treat, as the other two are older and in poorer health to walk much. Today I decided not to walk her due to the temperature and time, so gave them all a treat and went inside to get some towels to give them a de-stink towel bath
  17. Added: I should add that I tried to log in under my OLD iTunes AOL name to see if I could get the 1st set of stuff back into iTunes, and it said I had to update my iTunes name as they don't use AOL names any longer. Went through the process of changing the name from the old AOL name to a new one, and at the final step get an "error 3002" saying it could not finish the transaction, and poof - it ends. This is EXACTLY why all along I had resisted using an iPod and the proprietary crap Apple has associated with it, but Nooooooo I didn't listen to my instincts. Dammit. Anyway, if anyone s
  18. I only just barely get around on iTunes. In the past I had bought stuff under one email address account, and later on, created a new account with a different iTunes email address, etc. Ok, so I upgraded my computer to Win7 this week and re-installed iTunes. Hooked up my iPod and it only downloaded about half of the content into my "library" of purchases. Then it kept saying I had to authorize my computer again for this computer to download other content. Ok, easy answer if there is one that folks know... I had HEARD that this new version 9 allows you to merge two accounts and t
  19. Well, trying it the old fashioned way again... Her "real" video: The "Sims" version: The very disturbing dward/drag gaga parody (nightmares will follow):
  20. At work before the holiday break they were playing Lady GaGa's "Bad Romance" video from youtube at work. Yep - crazy chick. Decent song, catchy and all that, but wow... I'd hate to be the dry cleaners to have to do that gal's clothes. LOL I was trying to find the video online to send my Sister, and in the process found this... a version that someone did using the SIMS computer program that kids have. I'll give this kid credit... very creative. You probably have to to know how close this one comes to it, but considering the limits of the program, they did good. Now you know what
  21. While the article wasn't real specific, I think they're talking about personal use time and not the amount of time you have to be online for work.
  22. According to this, the average person spends 13 hours a week online: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-10421016-93.html Be honest - how much time do you spend online each day? I'm aware of a couple of folks on here who spend about 13 hours a DAY. lol
  23. Yeah, I know, it's TMZ, but I saw the video. Geez, it's not like someone cornered you at the urinal or anything. Sign the guy's poster! http://www.tmz.com/2009/12/25/james-cameron-in-major-a-hole-dispute/
  24. That's nuts. Well, anyway, I installed Win7 today. Decided to do the clean install. Took about 1.5 hours. In the process of re-installing all of my stuff now. My only complaint is the loss of Windows Mail/Outlook express with their attempt to make you replace it with Windows Live Mail which to me, SUCKS. Toyed with it most of the evening and it's crap. But downloaded Mozilla's "thunderbird" mail program and love that one. So, so far, all is well. Overall Win7 seems to run a little more smoothly.
  25. Went to the Powder Springs Publix earlier today to get something and management was standing outside looking into the parking lot for someone who had apparently just lifted something and ran out. I heard one tell the other to look out for a young black male with a hoodie... well DUH, that just described 11 people in the parking lot! Good luck! I assume the guy got away.
