    apple is too proprietary to allow repairs by local repair shops. ($200.00 is a little more than i'd like to dispose of in one whack.)

    if moisture is suspected, put the device in a ziploc baggie full of plain white instant rice. (uncooked) let it sit in there for a day or two. worked for my son's i-phone.

    i've got some chicken breasts marinating in a balsamic & onion mixture. hubby will grill and i'll find something to to fix with it.

    i'd recommend crating him if you have to leave him unattended in the future. damages to rental property can get expensive.
