  1. The joke at our house.....'Hand Everyone A Ticket'.
  2. It kills me that anyone even cares. Why does a politician care and then feel it's necessary to pass a law that dictates what anyone can and cannot do in their own bedroom? Or living room or kitchen for that matter? I think that they must have partners who won't play the game and decide to not let anyone else play either. It's a bunch of horse pucky if you ask me. And I'm sure somewhere religion plays a huge part in it, Heaven forbid that you are a Christian and have a sex life too. Stepping down from my soapbox now.
  3. I emailed a friend about this agency and this is what she sent back........ "You are wise to be cautious. I do know Element - but they are a management company-not an agency. I know the girl that started it. They mostly recruit "high Fashion" types and try and place them with other agencies...however, everyone I know has mostly said they were asked to do a bunch of free jobs". I hope all of this advice helps you make a decision, I'd hate for your daughter to be disappointed and you to be out a lot of money.
  4. I'm glad you went there and not me, because I was thinking the EXACT same thing. Scary places.
  5. That is true, but the signs in the store have a disclaimer saying, 'For Educational Purposes ONLY'. Or at least that's what I've been told!
  6. OMG, WTH is up with that?!?!??!?!??! I hate them, I've seen them in blue and chrome. What's next, a d%^k flapping from your antenna? Good grief people, get some taste.
  7. Good for her, it's a hard row to hoe sometimes. Luckily Hubby just does it for extra money and usually it's a very pretty penny!
  8. Hubby has never been asked for a penny. After he is booked for a job and the job is completed, you get a check 6-8 weeks later, only after the agency is paid their fee from the client. They take their cut, 10-20% depending on if it's a TV commercial or print ad, and then they pay the talent.
  9. Thank you! Goodness gracious, I'd hate to see what may be on my TV if there were no kids here!!!
  10. Are they asking for ANY money at all, if so, run away. Hubby is signed with Real People/Kiddin' Around in Atlanta and NO money exchanges hands until they book you for jobs. You'll have to pay for head shots and if this agency tries to convince you to use a particular photographer, run away. If an agency is on the up and up, they give you a long list to choose from or encourage you to find your own, that way there is no conflict of interest. This can be a sticky business if you tangled up with the wrong people and often they will offer ANYONE a contract just to get into their pocket. Be
  11. Nope, she's right on the mark. I've seen it too and am about as far from a prude as you can get, but C-O-M-E O-N! There are also infomercials selling the same thing and they are on DURING THE DAY! That's why all of 5th grader's TV channels are blocked except for the cartoon channels. Let's be honest, if you want that particular product, the internet is your friend. There are store that sell them, do we really need a commercial touting their abilities during broad daylight......I think not. But that's just me.
  12. We haven't had a home phone number for over a year and now I'm getting calls on my cell phone. I don't answer if it's an 800, 877, etc., number or one I don't recognize. I wait til the leave a message and 99% of the time, it's some kind of sales call. WTH?!
  13. Love Boston. We went a few years ago and had an idea of what we wanted to do and see. Well, Hubby's uncle was hosting us and surprised us and took the day off to 'tour' with us and show us the town. Yea, well.........he showed us the town alright, by driving by just about everything on our 'to do' list saying, 'Oh, you don't want to see that'. He did stop long enough for us to board Old Ironsides and to see the Old North Church, but that's about all we got to see. So, from my perspective, slow down and see everything we've all heard about.
  14. OMG, I know!! Heavy duty, super high gloss paper, hardly any wording, just that stupid little red and blue square. I have loved and shopped at JCP all my life, no more.
  15. And no coupons. My $48.00 cross trainer shoes that I could get on sale and with a coupon for $26.00, are $48.00 all the time with this guys new ground breaking approach. Once again, how is that better for me? No sales. No coupons. No me. Idiotic premise all around.
  16. Like I said in my previous posts about this subject, just because he could sell new technology to techies, doesn't mean he can sell soft goods to Moms and Grandmoms. This was a B-A-D idea from the get-go. Who knew?!?! Oh wait........I did!
  17. Check Expedia, I booked with them last year when we went and we had 5 nights at Harrahs, round trip, non stop airfare, transportation to and from the hotel to the airport and a Hoover dam trip and it was less than $1100.00 for everything. And you must go to Freemont Street after dark and experience the entertainment that happens on the ceiling........waaaaaaaaaay too cool.
  18. This isn't a sandwich but everybody LOVES it. Strawberries with dipping sauce. The sauce is 1 jar of marshmallow cream and 1 pk of softened cream cheese. Mix until smooth. YUM!!
  19. Mini crossiants with chicken salad are always a hit. One that my family always serves and people LOVE (not me)are little cucumber open top sands. You take a small round cookie cutter and cut white bread into rounds. Spread softened cream cheese on the round and place a slice of peeled cucumber on top. All done. Not my fav, but they are always the first thing gone.
  20. Something that confuses me about foreclosure is that I hear all the time about how someone hasn't paid their mortgage to 6, 8, 10, months and have had practically no communication with the bank and are living in the house for free. I had a neighbor whose husband passed suddenly and because of ins delays and just being in shock, she missed 2 payments and was served a foreclosure notice and 2 days later received notice that her house was going to be auctioned on the courthouse steps on the first of the next month, which was in 11 days. Luckily, she was able to rectify the situation before t
  21. I saw very clearly that the current budget is $63,600.00, with salaries being $43,000 of that budget. Check post #47. Whats your point and how does it answer my question? And for the record, $35,000.00 is never half of $63,600.00. Half is $31,800.00.
  22. C-R-A-Z-Y! It seems like too much of a coincidence to me!!!
  23. So, approximately how many cases do the coroner and the deputies work in a fiscal year? Could those numbers multiplied by $150.00 per case exceed the current $43,000.00 salary budget?
