  1. I guess if you're the one in the dire predicament, you should be the one to deliver the news however you see fit. But when you read that kind of thing and have no idea, it's like being hit on the head with a frying pan. BONK!
  2. OK, after the shock and awe had a moment to settle, my daughter called this person and said, 'WHY IN THE HE!! DID YOU POST THAT ON FB'? And the answer was perfectly logical. Because they said, 'I didn't want to be met with tears or silence on the other end of the phone. I'd rather you yell at me for upsetting you and let's move past it'. She was once again speechless, but she completely understood. Yep and that is what I hate it too because people can be cruel and horrible. But as of yet, the responses have been very supportive and positive, maybe that won't change.
  3. UUUMMMMM.................I guess not. We were just so shocked, it seemed like a terrible delivery method. But if I had awful news to share, I wouldn't want to relay it over and over and over again. Bad, sad news SUCKS! I know and unfortunately by my own choosing, I think I'm being left behind.
  4. I think my problem is that I saw my daughter go from laughing and carrying on, getting a ding on her phone of a FB update and in an instant, dissolve into a heap that I can't console. As a Mom, even though she's 26, it's my job to make things better and I'm failing. I can't even imagine what the FB person and their family must be going through. My insides are shaking and I feel like I'm going to puke. Things like this just don't happen to people you really know. Oh wait, yes they do.
  5. You're probably right, but seeing how it can effect those who read the news who have ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE, it just seems wrong somehow. This isn't a casual acquaintance, someone you barely know. It's a close friend that you keep in contact with and one that you talked to last week. It's HORRIBLE!
  6. I wonder why they target a specific place? My girls were sure that there was a dead body in the attic!!
  7. In my world, you don't share devastating, life and death news on Facebook. News that stuns, shocks and completely blindsides your friends and family. Some things just need to be delivered a little more gently. So, is it irresponsible or is it where social media has taken us? I HATE FB, ALWAYS HAVE and this certainly hasn't helped the cause.
  8. That is so weird!! It looks like something out of a horror movie.
  9. Is there a choice of where they go if YDC becomes involved? I don't think that there is.
  10. There are vultures flocking on a house just down the street in my neighborhood. There is one on the mailbox and at least 3 on the roof pecking, biting and clawing at the shingles. My daughter called 911 and asked for a welfare check. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?
  11. I haven't been to White Water in years, but there's a new aquatic center/water park in Cherokee county that is wonderful. For 3 adults and 3 kids to get in yesterday it cost $33.00. It's clean, brand new, the life guards are great and it wasn't crowded. If you google 'cherokee county ga water park' it should pop up.
  12. Make a menu on one side of your paper, on the other side list what you will need for each meal, right down to the butter and salt and pepper. Then go to your pantry and see what you already have and mark that off of your list. I do twice a month and a list will save you every time. I don't know how you feel about Aldi, but that's where I stock up on butter, milk, bread, cheese, eggs and some meat. They really are less on those staples and I have found no difference between their brands and any other store brands. Good luck!
  13. Is this person stupid? Seriously?! They're offended because they were told not to bring a gift because they believe that they were initially supposed to bring one? That MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE AT ALL. Get a new friend. And for the record, I'll guarantee you that other people will bring gifts too. That's just what you do for friends.
  14. This is the bottom line for me.......you want to take a gift, as I would. Your 'mutual friend' is offended for some bozo reason. I wouldn't give a flying red balloon that they were offended, their opinion has no bearing on what you do or don't do. Have fun at the party!!!!!
  15. This thread is idiotic. 'Walmart costing taxpayers 900,000 per store'. RIDICULOUS! And that someone actually believes it and is spreading their muck around, is even more absurd. YUP!
  16. That's weird, it's usually squirrels that cause the outages.
  17. Thank you, that is my thinking as well. Not that is can't be true, but look at who's answering the question.
  18. No kiddin'. I've followed the RULES, printed the form, delivered it to the Marshalls office on 2 separate occasions and strangely it has been VERY EFFECTIVE every single time. Amazing what happens when you actually do what you're supposed to.
