  1. The sheriffs dept has talked to this family more than once about any number of things and they just don't seem to understand that there are some things a kid doesn't need to be doing. But as long as they aren't having to supervise him, they don't care what he does.
  2. Nope, completely alone. What would you do? Nothing? Something?
  3. That little SOB should have been dropped in his tracks right there. I shouldn't be surprised by anything people do these days, but I still am.
  4. Maybe I'm just out of the loop, but this is getting on my last nerve. My neighbor, 2 houses down, drives around in our neighbor alone. He picked his sister up at the bus stop today, granted it's 3 houses from the stop, BUT HE'S 12! And why wasn't he in school you ask? No clue. He used to only do it in the yard, but now he's taking it to the streets and no one in his house seems to care. Is this OK and I'm missing something? It seems extremely unsafe for him and anyone in his path, which was me and my son today. My son-in-law has spoken to him and his grandfather, but apparently it has fall
  5. 2 people have been arrested in the murder of this innocent man. I hope they burn. http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/news-national/20130826/second-suspect-arrested-death-wwii-veteran/
  6. That's when you have to research where all the family and single restrooms are.
  7. I've stood with my foot holding the door open before. Boy, did I get some weird looks especially from the men going in and out. And I was real upset about that.........oh wait.........no I wasn't.
  8. So, it's not just me!!!!! I feel exactly the same way. That's why I watch middleschooler at the bus stop. I'm not AT the bus stop, but 5 housed down watching from the corner and I don't care what anyone thinks about it. I'm also at the same spot when he gets off and as soon as I see him get off and start walking toward the corner, I walk toward home, so there's usually 3 or 4 houses in between us. That way, he's safe, I have piece of mind and he's still kind of on his own. I'm sure that I can be overprotective, but I raised 2 daughters into adulthood with the same ideas I have now and the
  9. Thank you for that, Moms like me appreciate people who look out for their kids. I hate letting middleschooler go into a non family restroom alone, but he's taller than me and a black belt in Pil Sung Do. But you'd better believe I'd storm a mens room if I thought anything was amiss. And I swear, my kid is the SLOWEST in the world, but luckily, he makes noise of some kind at all times so I can usually hear him.
  10. When my girls were little, I had a dad ask me as I was going into the restroom with them if I would take his little girl too. They were shopping for Mom and she had to go and he didn't want to take her into the mens room. She was about 7 I think. I did and he was very thankful, but I don't think I'd do that.
  11. What is up with that? I sew for a living and I have for years and know a lot about sewing, but I was at Joann, a sewing center, and had a question about a pattern. I asked two different people and they each said to me, 'Oh mam, I don't sew'. OK?! Well, my mind was screaming, 'Then why are you working here'??????????? Even if you are hired and know nothing about what the store you're working in, you could at least familiarize yourself with your surroundings and try to do a good job.
  12. Good for you Mom! Usually those people giving the dirty looks don't know a persons situation or why they are doing what they are doing. You know whats best!!
  13. Darn good question. I've read about this in two different places and her parents/guardians weren't mentioned in either. WTH?
  14. Hubby has a cell phone to take calls from me and our kids, it's super basic with no frills. He only carries it at work and never at home. I don't play games on mine, I use it for communication only and certainly not at dinner. The only time we allow middleschooler to bring his Nintendo DS into a restaurant is if there are several adults and he probably won't be part of the conversation. And so many parents lament about lack of communication when they are the very ones teaching it.
  15. I HATE that too. I bought a Toyota 4Runner in 2005 and Hubby had told me to find what I wanted and buy it. I looked and looked and finally found what I liked and went to the dealership to look at it. Before I went though, I did a lot of research and I knew how much it was worth and what I was willing to pay. I drove it, loved it and made an offer. The salesman flatly refused, looked at Hubby to explain the value and Hubby put his hand up and said, 'It's all her'. On the third day after calling me several times, the salesman told me that they were going to take it to auction if I didn't buy it
  16. We were in Ashville at the Biltmore House many, many moons ago having lunch at one of the on site restaurants. I wanted ice cream and ordered 2 scoops of vanilla. I was informed that it was only sold by the single scoop. HUH!?!?! 'But I want two scoops'. 'I'm sorry mam, it's only sold one scoop at a time'. I even told her to charge me twice and put it in one bowl. Nope, she wouldn't do it. I thought my mother was going to have a stroke. Well, this went back and forth several times and finally I said, 'Fine. Bring 2 two single scoops'. When she brought the ice cream and sat it down and t
  17. Another good alternative are family restrooms. Many stores have them, as do the malls. Sams, Walmart, Target, the food court at Town Center, etc. We would make sure that no one was in the rest room, middleschooler would go in, lock the door and Hubby or I would be outside waiting.
  18. When we had Direct tv, I can't ever recall it ever going out. Even right after we got it we had 2 or 3 snows very close together and we still had tv. I was shocked and happily surprised.
  19. I can't stand waste either. We eat leftovers for lunch, I freeze leftover spaghetti sauce, I put water in the shampoo/conditioner/body wash bottles so I don't lose a drop. Me neither.......however........if something is on sale that I use a lot like laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, etc., I will hoard it. I just bought 12 bottles of Purex today because at Walgreens it's buy 1 get 2 free. I also had coupons and I'm sure that before the sale goes off on Saturday, I'll buy more. So, in that respect, I am a hoarder.
  20. OMG, that made me crazy to just read it!! Do people really not have brains these days? How can you possibly sell something at a particular register, the register is CLOSED and then no one seems to understand the problem???? Bless your heart, I would probably have acted like a fool!!!!
  21. That's true, but that still has nothing to do with the OP's original topic.
  22. Try Cartersville, they have always had a shorter wait time whenever we've had issues like this.
  23. For a US soldier to KILL innocent women and children has absolutely nothing to do with limits of deployment. If you want to discuss deployment limits, then discuss that. But don't come on here trying to get others to back your ignorant argument of, 'Well, they were sent over there to kill people and they kill people and are then put in jail for it'. You're simply trying to rile people up and that equals trolling every time and I stand by that observation. But apparently I'm not the only one who thinks that, so I KNOW I'm not barking up the wrong tree.
  24. Trollin', trollin', trollin', keep them doggies rollin', trollin', trollin', trollin, RAWHIDE! Yes. And there's that!
