First of all, I hope everyone is OK, no matter WHERE this McD's is. Second of all, I just read this whole thread to my husband (who isn't on pcom) as a classic example of pcom. SO CLASSIC!! So while I hope the damage isn't too bad and no one is injured wherever it is nearby, I thank you all for this thread. It is classic pcom.

WTF are you trying to say? Good giggly wiggly woman, get a freaking grip.

OMG LPPT!!! That was SO ADORABLE! I don't know whether to be horrified or amused...but that was TOO CUTE!!

So many completely irrelevant arguments have found their way into this thread. I'm not saying the arguments have no merit; I'm only saying they have no place in this thread. Are we in a world of hurt? WITHOUT A DOUBT. But I go back to what I said early in this thread and I STAND BY IT: raising the minimum wage will only raise the cost of EVERYTHING we consume and will do NOTHING to help those who think making more money will put more money in their pockets. Why do we study history? SHEESH!

A 'summative assessment'......................

Substitute "cumulative" and it probably makes more sense. -
I'm a vaper, and I love it. As I saw a couple of folks here say...once you start seriously vaping, "real" cigs taste NASTY. But I will also add that, unless you are truly ready to put the cancer sticks aside and vape instead, you are wasting your money trying this and that and finding they fall short. It takes a mental adjustment to switch from smoking nasty, stinky cigs to full-time vaping, and if you aren't ready, you're wasting money on ecigs. I wish you all success. If you can make the switch, you have no idea how much it can improve your life. Least of all, you won't STINK. An

I truly do wonder how some of you even remember to breathe.

I think they're wise to save those missiles in advance of seeing what 0bama will decide to do. Very wise, indeed. -

I'll take that as a yes I am, and no, this is how I am even when I use my own name. -
One for you, dear TP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAWS8BLFbPs

Love her! So sad about her Parkinson's and losing her voice. But she's not feeling any self pity either, darlin'.
-
Awww, honey, don't misplace your pity on me. I can assure you it's not needed.
-
But for future reference so we're all able to communicate, you might point out my "handy pretty phony words" to me and the rest of us so we might avoid confusing you? Because gosh darn, we sure would like for you to be able to read what we say and understand it without pages and pages of contentious explanation.
-
Oh! My bad! I didn't know I needed to adjust my vocabulary to meet your intellect. Goodnight!
-
Awww, honey! You seem to be responding as if I had any concern about what you think, right? The only thing I need to check myself for is consistency, and I'm consistent. Just out of curiosity, did you mean that to be an insult? Bless your heart!

And I suppose you look for that sign before you purchase your Egg White Delight? It takes one to know one, sweetcheeks. I hope you had a bit more in your quiver!

Unless I'm mistaken ( and I admit I could be)...the "kids" don't work for "the corporation," have no union representation, and in fact work for a local franchise owned by your friends and neighbors. What people also fail to recognize is that your local fast food place isn't OWNED by the corporation but is a locally owned franchise, the owners of which decide the wages. This whole thing is a dog and pony show meant to rile up those with liberal hearts and tiny brains. And you bought into it? Color me SHOCKED!!
-
It is absolutely ludicrous that anyone could support the position that unskilled laborers working in fast food should make $15 an hour. I can't believe the ignorance of some of my neighbors. Please go back and read what I said about what this would do to our entire economy. If you possess enough brain cells to do so, PLEASE think about it. If you have the wherewithal to Google, for God's sake Google the history of minimum wage hikes in this country and somewhere in your tiny little pea-sized brains, try to understand how this should not happen. OMG sometimes I wonder how some of you ha

Held accountable--ABSOLUTELY. Indiscriminately bombing them with no clear goal? NO!!! -
In my job, I develop training (delivered on the iPad) for a workforce that uses the iPad in every aspect of their daily work. And no, these aren't "highly skilled" workers. They do product installation in peoples' homes. And this is how it's going to be, I think...that for efficiency and cost control, it just makes sense to automate. And it also makes economic sense to automate, not to mention environmental sense. I think if students use iPads (or some electronic device) at the primary/secondary levels, schools are doing a lot to equip future workers for the workplace of the future. J

You folks who are proponents of this strike are missing a few key points. First and foremost, in the history of minimum wage increases, the price of goods is driven higher to account for the increase in labor costs. When wages cut into profits, consumers pay the difference so that profit doesn't suffer. Second, when the prices paid for goods go up to compensate for the increase in wages, the people demanding the increase find themselves in the same place they were before they demanded an increase. There is no gain in their net income when the price of everything rises to accommodate

A co-worker of my husband's has yard chickens with an ABUNDANCE of eggs. He gave my husband two dozen last week. EVERY egg has had a double yolk. All of them. This is rare?

Howdy, neighbor! We live in the same area, but haven't seen him. I'll tell my husband and we'll keep a lookout for him. Hope you find him. I can't even imagine how worried you are.
