  1. And no heavy makeup...they want a natural, poor look.
  2. You need a slim, bland skirt. Actually, the one you had in the picture isn't too bright, but I'm not sure it would be long enough or straight enough. The one they have me wearing is about three inches above my ankle. I have a button down shirt you can borrow. We wear the same size. In fact, the shirt I have that you can borrow is almost identical to several they assigned others while I was there, including The Rev. Just let me know how to get it to you if you want to use it. It's beige, so it will go with anything.
  3. I'm not sure about the hat...though I do wonder why you had it in your closet! They said nude hose. When they fit me, they made a big deal about my coat being as long as my dress. I must have tried on 10 coats before they found one they were happy with. I know, I'm no help. But nude hose.
  4. Here's a link to creating finger waves. Clicking the orange text at this site will take you to additional pages with illustrations and such. And here's another site that gives instructions for both pin curls and finger waves.
  5. That wasn't her, The Rev. KidzArt, it said you could also use permanent rollers to get the waves. Finger waves are also appropriate--and there's lots of info online about how to create them. Let me suggest--before you "think" you can do pin curls, experiment before the actual filming day. I experimented last night, and I must have done it wrong--I had a HUGE 'fro when I took them out and combed it! They also said no red in the stuff they sent me, which is odd, because the dress they fitted me to wear has red on it. Not much, and not bright red, but it has red. Strange. I'
  6. Don't try being reasonable. It only confuses people. People see what they want to see. As I said much earlier in this thread, yes, the cartoon is offensive. Without a doubt. Bad taste (which this cartoonist, apparently, is quite good at). But I think it's been taken out of context and blown way out of proportion. I have no idea what the cartoonist meant. It's a cr@ppy cartoon on any level. But I don't see overt racism or an encouragement to assassinate the president. I see a weak point about a bad bill and a dead monkey. And those who see it as racist would then turn around a
  7. Rarely have I see ANYONE make a statement about someone else's posts and the illustrate it so completely with their own post. Did you ponder that long and hard before you posted? Because it was brilliant in its execution. Oh, and in my opinion, the chimp in no way was meant to signify the president. People who see that are looking for trouble where it doesn't exist, or are looking for a different trouble than the one that clearly does exist, in my opinion.
  8. You so clearly haven't seen any of his other political cartoons. Don't get me wrong--I'm not defending him--but if you do a little research on his cartoons, you'll see that the above is highly unlikely to be his motivation in creating the cartoon. On his website, Al Sharpton stated the following: "The cartoon in today’s New York Post is troubling at best, given the racist attacks throughout history that have made African-Americans synonymous with monkeys. One has to question whether the cartoonist is making a less than casual inference to this form of racism when, in the
  9. OK, I'm gonna vote. Yes, I find it offensive. But not for the reasons in the article linked in the OP. I wish you'd had another category in your poll that gave people the option to indicate WHAT was offensive about the cartoon. As it stands now, it looks like anyone who says they found it offensive agrees with the article you linked. I find the cartoon offensive, but not because I find it racist or a threat to Obama. It's just a dumb, poorly executed joke. I pretty much feel the guy *should* have lost his job if that's all he could come up with. I mean Jeez, he worked
  10. Uhmmmm...didn't I say that in post #5?
  11. I completely agree. I had the same reaction.
  12. I find it confusing, personally. But it would seem to me that it's taken out of context by people whose racial sensitivity is off the chart. I in no way thought the chimp signified Obama. At all. It seems to me the insinuation was that a monkey wrote the stimulus bill. Obama didn't write the stimulus bill. Nancy Pelosi gets the Cinderella shoe for that, doesn't she? Man, it's a stupid cartoon, but no, I didn't take a racial slur nor an invitation to assassination from it in any way. It's dumb and tasteless. But racist and threatening? Uhm, no. It's playing on the joke abo
  13. If you're thinking about it, you should do it!! It's so fun to see the photos afterward, and from seeing the photos she posted here in the past, Fotogirl is an awesome photographer!
  14. I would sign up, but a photographer friend of mine did some of me for her portfolio a couple of weeks ago. I posted one as my profile pic. She did so good!

  16. Sorry you couldn't get your sign hung. Hope you can soon.
  17. Sorry--I'm a cook who never measures anything! If you're going the mashed potato route, just add small amounts of milk to your potatoes until it has the consistency you want for your soup. And heat it slowly. Add the spices/bacon/whatever after you get the soup to the consistency you're looking for. And if you add cheese, you may need to add a bit more milk after the cheese melts. Cheese will thicken the soup.
  18. If you want it creamy, make your potatoes first, and mash them like you're making mashed potatoes. Then used the mashed potatoes for your soup. Add milk and whatever seasonings/cheese/whatever you want. I often make a creamy potato soup out of leftover mashed potatoes. It works wonderfully.
  19. That's funny! I just mentioned making loaded baked potato soup in another thread earlier today!
