  1. For anthropologists and those who like to delve into this, it is quite interesting. My Link
  2. You won't find me talking about religion much at all. To each their own. You're putting something into my posting. It is not there. It was a sad story. It was on the Yahoo News Page. I went down the list and read the Most Viewed News and posted those that would be something we would talk about here.
  3. You are assuming there is resentment where there is none. Why are you so defensive?
  4. That's not a slam on Christians! I said it was a sad story all the way around. It wouldn't have mattered if they relied on prayer or herbs. The child is dead. The parents are going to jail. They didn't mean for the child to die. They did what they thought was right. It's just sad.
  5. What a heartbreaking story! The family has six other children but after their two year old died from pneumonia, they face 10 years in jail. Instead of medicine, they prayed. What a sad story all the way around. My Link
  6. Here's the link. Most burglaries occur during daytime hours when homes are empty, My link 2 “Most burglars will sit outside of a residence and wait until the occupants leave for work or school. They [burglars] wait until they are absolutely sure that no one is in the home,” says Laviage.
  7. That means those that use Google know how to distinguish sources that are reputable and those that have been debunked.
  8. Latest news from today is that things are getting better. All of this before the Republicans took over the House, too. My Link
  9. Are you serious? You really don't know that? OK. Call the DAs office on Monday and ask. Or call an LEO and ask. That is common knowledge. Most burglaries happen when the people are not home.
  10. Those stats have been around and debunked years ago. They still pop up now and then by people who think Google can answer all the questions. So now you're wanting American citizens with whom you disagree to leave the nation? Mighty freedom-loving of you. They did that in central Europe in the 1930s too.
  11. If that is what you chose to do in your home, fine. But don't bring all those guns into the public square where the probability of accidents are increased. Public safety is paramount.
  12. Anthrax. WMD. Those you named have restrictions on them too. Public safety.
  13. We don't allow people to carry dangerous compounds in public either. (Red herring) Being on the road implies a reasonable expectation of the risk. That is not the same risk as sitting in a church where there is an expectation of safety from guns. The math on this is very simple and no educated person would argue the probablity of it. I'm sorry but that is not a variable situation but simple math. The variables could actually increase the danger even more, but not decrease it. You're using a red herring argument that is simply not relevant to the topic at hand.
  14. That's not speculation but elementary school math. You have to follow the law about carrying whether you like it or not. This is not the Wild West. Roads have nothing to do with this discussion except that your throwing out a red herring.
  15. Probability. No gun = no chance of bad happening. One gun = chance increases. Two guns = chances double. Three guns = chances triple. Bad guy pulls out a gun = chances increase even more that innocent people will get hurt as more guns get pulled and more bullets start flying. This is totally insane.
  16. Let me get this straight. You're all for people breaking the law now by carrying these guns into all those places? You're smarter than this. More guns mean more chances of people getting hurt. If you pull your gun after the bad guy has pulled his, you're already at the disadvantage. If you want to get killed, go ahead. But don't introduce that legal scenario in public where the probability is increased that more innocent people get killed. Do that in your own home but not at the church, the mall, the parking lot of the theater or anywhere else where the public is expecting to be safe
  17. Being dead is permanent. Pull out a gun with an armed assailant and someone is probably not going to posting about it tomorrow.
  18. Hold on, Sweet Cheeks. Who said anything about outlawing guns? I never said that! I simply said that allowing more guns in more public places will only increase the probability that more innocent people will get hurt. I am guessing you didn't pull your gun and have a shoot out with the person, and most likely one of you would be dead, not to mention other innocent people. As it is, you're alive an no one innocent got hurt either. Your point? Is the risk of death worth your playing Rambo, or the contents of your wallet?
  19. Do you understand probability that increases the likelihood by a manifold expression if more guns are introduced into all those places? You have just made it more likely that more people will be hurt by accident, including the danger that you and your family will be harmed more now than before. Math is easy on this.
  20. That has always been the case, everywhere, and at all times in history. You're taking the news from all over the world and extrapolating it "every day" in "every town" and with "every body." How many times has it happened this week in Atlanta? Or let's say all of GA? Out of how many businesses? Out of how many homes? Out of how many places of worship? Out of how many night spots or entertainment areas? Out of how many schools? Out of how many public parks? Just do the math. And then tell me if that number is worth increasing the odds astronomically with the introduction of more guns in eve
  21. Much better than church weddings. Never have liked those. It's not like God doesn't know what you're doing and where you're at. Why get married in a church? Have it outside, a friend's home or a park. Church weddings are so stuffy.
  22. How many times has it happened that it was needed? Let's be real about the chances. I don't know of anyone it has actually happened to. It could. It could be that a terrorists bursts in on you tomorrow too. Or a plane crashes on your house. Let's get real with the numbers. But what the real numbers do say is that the more guns in public increases the odds that my family is in danger. The cold, hard math is without question on that. So here you are saying "I've got to protect to my family" (a statistically minuscule probability) but the odds are hugely increased that someone innocent is
  23. I don't feel comfortable being in a public place knowing that there could be many people carrying weapons and any one of them go postal. Or several of them start firing away to "defend" themselves. Then more bullets are flying. I'm sure you're a sane person now but I sure don't want to be in public and your blood sugar causes you to start seeing or doing crazy things. Or you accidentally drop the gun. Or in a fit of emotional rage you fire it. I sure don't want 12 other people suddenly pull out their guns and then 13 people are all shooting and no body knows who is the crazy one and who ar
