  1. Ours went down another $37,000! Couldn't rebuild for what it's worth on that piece of paper.
  2. I'm in North Paulding, and as of this morning, we've received only a trace. The birdbath is still empty. Wonder why we didn't get the rain last night as predicted.
  3. This is a bad brand for many dogs. Collies and some other breeds cannot tolerate the ingredient, Ivermectin. Do your research. We use Revolution which comes in a small liquid vial to be applied to the top of the neck area. This has been great for years.
  4. Raccoon Mountain cave in Chattanooga is supposed to be one of the best in the South. Oh, and the Chattanooga Ducks (WWII vehicle that takes you on land and in water) is a blast!
  5. We're going to take a few fun day trips: Nantahala river rafting, The Lost Sea caverns in TN, and tubing down the river in Helen. Otherwise, getting braces is the big event of the Summer for my daughter. How exciting!
  6. As an earlier poster said.... to run a business, you have to put some capital into it. I for one, am not suggesting to have it shut down. However, an increase in the # of events should be turned down until certain criteria have been met. I'm sure the commission is working with the applicant to determine what those criteria are, in order to strike a fair balance. Go to the hearing and bring up suggestions on that criteria. You that are for it, don't go to mouth off and say, "We want more events because it's fun and we're not hurting anyone." Be constructive and say WHY exactly you want and
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if the vehicles are no longer allowed to be left overnight. We'll see how things progress. That could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. Either there could be more chances taken with driving when they shouldn't, or there could be less drinking because they aren't able to leave their vehicles overnight. If the ending time is supposed to be 4 p.m., then maybe someone needs to see to it that it ends at that time - not 6 p.m. or some other time in the evening. The special permit has an agreed-upon time frame for the events. From my understanding, it sta
  8. The hearing is scheduled for May 24th at 2 p.m. This is for hearing both sides of the issue. There, the pros and cons can be handled in a professional, courteous manner - at least I would hope.
  9. Well, therein lies the answer to my question. I found something online about Wesley's events being illegal until the hearing in March of '09. Two dozen people from Reid's Plantation attended that hearing, but it was approved, anyway. I wondered why. Now I see where the support lies.
  10. Just check out what the other most recent #1 topic is right now. That's enough to tell you.
  11. You said it better than I could. It's a good thing building and business HAS slowed down, here. This county is not ready to move forward. They don't want growth here. It's too much to ask to live side-by-side the old and the new here. There just is no compromise.
  12. Well, as they say, there's an exception to every rule.
  13. This is where I found it: http://www.paulding.gov/DocumentView.aspx?DID=100
  14. It appears that this will be in violation of Paulding's Noise Ordinance. See Article III Noise Control. Section 46-62, # 11: "Motorcycles, go-carts and OTHER MOTOR VEHICLES. The operation of a motorcycle, go-cart, or ANY OTHER MOTORIZED VEHICLE in a manner which creates excessive noise, including the continuous riding of any such vehicle past, around, OR NEAR an inhabited dwelling place so as to disturb or unduly annoy its inhabitants." I'm thinking Reid's Plantation is going to fit that to a "T." When is this up for a vote?
  15. I want to know when and how I'm going to have a say-so in this.
  16. We went to one of these to see what it was like. My child was 8 and didn't get one egg. Hey, she may have needed to be more aggressive, but she's just not going to "do what it takes" to run over everyone else. Too bad those events are like that, but then again, what IS the point of these events? I agree with the poster who said you could just pick up some eggs at the dollar store. So much better than watching sweet little kids standing on the crowded field ending up with nothing. What a memory that will be.
  17. Not to belittle it because it does indeed need to be checked, but I had something similar - swollen area under my arm. Thought it was a swollen lymph node. Turned out to be just breast tissue. A mammo-ultrasound can take a good look at it.
  18. Is that one an actual Easter egg "HUNT" or a scramble? Over the past several years, most places scatter the eggs on a big field to be scooped up all at once, or they do a helicopter drop on a field. It's interesting watching a field get cleared by hundreds of kids in only a matter of seconds. I've seen aggressive older kids with full baskets and less aggressive younger kids wind up with nothing. I miss the Easter Egg hunts - a little more work, but a little more fun and it lasts longer.
  19. It's hard to watch what used to be a nice neighborhood start to decline. Yards being infiltrated by weeds / never mowed, houses needing a paint job badly, crime being more prevolent, homes sitting vacant, etc. I guess we're going to see more renters than homeowners soon. I've noticed in Paulding County, as well as other neighborhing counties, that there aren't many apartments to rent. That's probably the business to get into - building rental dwellings. What starts as a neighborhood which specifies single family dwellings is becoming a multi-dwelling neighborhood. People are barely affor
  20. When we bought in 2005, lenders were approving for up to 50% of a borrower's take-home income. As if I would be dumb enough to go for that! You should never mortgage more than 30%. I suspect that people didn't do the math before they "bought the farm."
  21. Definitely go to Murano. This is where beautiful glassware is made - everything from jewelry to vases to art pieces. You've probably heard of "Venetian Glass." Very high quality and artistic.
  22. What would happen if cursive were only used for signatures? Would it be important for banks, IRS, credit card companies, etc. to be able to READ them - at least enough to determine forgery when needed? Maybe it's not the exact letters that matter - maybe it's just the "look" of the signature that's needed when trying to determine if a signature has been tampered with. Who knows.
  23. I'm glad, too. I use dimmer switches. Not only can they NOT be used with flourescents, but they DO save electricity and bulbs. I also have several beautiful lamps that look ridiculous with the spiral-shaped bulbs sticking out. Really dislike the blue hue that most of them give off.
  24. There's one over at Seven Hills club house off Cedarcrest Rd. Should be a nice one. Today and tomorrow, the sign said.
  25. Getting ready to put our money where our (daughter's) mouth is. Anyone have any recommendations for an orthodontist near the North Paulding area? We have Depew Orthodontics right near here and have been going there for consultations. Read some unfavorable reviews, so we're a bit concerned.
