Good start. You need to stop by my shop/office sometime soon....it has been a while.

I read the story on one of my RSS feeds last night--and got the email later. Personally, I think the evolution of Netflix into two separate entities was inevitable from the get-go, and most likely the planned next step when prices were changed. To me, it seems like the natural progression of their long-term business goals. Netflix originally started with the ultimate goal of streaming movies online..hence the name "Netflix". You basically have a company whose claim to fame to this point has been the legacy service of mailing DVD rentals. This leaves them with the unique conundrum of

I could go on and on about the history of what was my family's land there--from the terraced pastures of the cotton fields my family cultivated--to the plethora of Native American artifacts found. Thank you for your sympathies.

Allgood elementary is named after my great-uncle Roy Allgood. He was a longtime educator here in Paulding. Jacquelyn was my grandmother...she passed away yesterday at her home. She was an educator as well. My grandmother sold the land to the BOE in 1997. The BOE decided to name the school after uncle Roy. The school is built on several acres of what was a seveal hundred acre farm that I grew up on. The farm belonged to my grandfather, W.O. Hart. The farm had been in my family for several generations and once included a civil war era home that I lived in as a child.

Dr. Wehunt is my dad. I have sat and read through the many posts about him during the past few days. I have bitten my tongue through most of it. However, there are those that legitimately just want copies of their medical records. If you are in that group, please PM me and I will give you instructions on how to do so. Further, for those of you who wish to just slander him, save it; this is neither the time or place.

I like the concept and product, however, I am already doing this with Google Voice via Blackberry...and given I am on Verizon, I have added my googlevoice number to my friends and family list...therefore, all incoming via that number is free.

In lieu of hijacking the earlier Microsoft/HP/Vista/Windows sucks thread...I decided to just start a new thread. If you are tired of Windows....try something new! Linux! If you don't know what Linux is, google it...a 'what is linux' search string should get you more than enough to read. If you want a distribution that works straight out of the box, try Linux Mint..it is loaded with gobs of codecs, drivers, and software. I currently run Linux on all of my home computers (except my wife and daughter's--their choice--). Linux Mint is a wonderful place to start the Linux novice-

LOL!! ... They have been doing it for years--sometimes under the guise of a new version **cough, couch**Vista** . Hence, I run Linux on the computers I use--Ubuntu on my desktops/laptops....Slackware on my home file server....Debian 5.0 'Lenny' on my webservers. Microsoft simply doesn't have an OS or server product that can come close to comparing to the capabilities and power of Linux--and to think Linux is FREE.

Sub...pm me...I can put XP pro on anything you buy.
-
Agreed. I don't watch too much TV, however, The Cleaner was awesome. It is disheartening to see the show gone.

What kind of inputs does your tv support? I would guess at least RCA and S video. What about your laptop? You need to determine the highest quality port each support and go with that. Also, If one has DVI and the other HDMI...you can buy an adapter at Wally World (around 15 bucks). Can you take a pic of the ports on both?
-
As long as both have a HDMI port, yes.

I am still looking for older computers and parts
audioslave replied to subby1's topic in RECENT TOPICS
@subby I have plenty of spare stuff laying around...probably 10-12 sticks of RAM, motherboards, drives, etc...are you gifting this stuff? -
Open Office is just as feature rich as Microsoft Office without all the bloat and bugs...not to mention you are free of Microsoft's money sucking grip. I have used Open Office for years...I am also slowly moving my operating systems to Linux.

I am looking forward to his first release next month. He is one hell of a singer.

The EnV and BB are two total different animals. Comparing them is comparing apples to oranges. Side-by-side comparison and the BB (I am referring to the Curve 8330 or higher) blows other 'standard' cell phones out of the water. Period. They are two totally different types of devices. BB is practically a small computer that has TONS of 3rd party apps (many free/many paid) that will allow you to do just about anything you need to do. BlackBerry USED to be an 'email device'. It is simply a misnomer to call it such these days. I have been using an Curve 8330 for about a y

I have been to 150+ concerts in my lifetime...so it is hard to really pick a #1. So many of them were really great. I would have to go with a top five: 1. The Derek Trucks Band - Georgia Theater - Athens, GA 2. B.B. King - Chastain Park - Altanta, GA 3. Reverend Horton Heat - Star Bar - Atlanta, GA 4. The Black Crowes - Fox Theater - Atlanta, GA 5. Ozzy Osbourne - Lakewood - Atlanta, GA

Funny you posted this...I was just coming in from the garage after responding to a PM via my CrackBerry. I agree that if you use CrackBerry's native browser, it isn't a fun experience. However, if you will download the 'Opera Mini' browser, you will be pleased. That being said, I think pcom could be quite a bit more mobile friendly. The site could be a bit more 'friendly' period.....my computer usually throttles the processor anywhere between 50-60% when sitting idle on a pcom page....usually due to all of the animated flash banners. Load times are horrid as well.

Yes...you need the box for each tv. However, the cool thing is you can use the DVR on 4 different TVs at the same time--it will cost you at least 15 bucks per TV to do the same with Comcast. Also, the extra boxes are HD ready.

Nevermind..apparently Noggin is now Nick Jr. ...my daughter didn't give me that memo...
-
Apparently they don' carry Noggin...My 4 year old would have a heart attack if she didn't have Noggin...else I would probably switch.

First, I have no idea if it is legal or not. However, if folks are indeed living there in tents--I can only imagine there being a really good reason for it. I have a question: Perhaps they are flood victims or perhaps they are down on their luck. Either way, where in the hell else do you suggest they go? At least they are in the somewhat safe bounds of someone's yard whom they probably know--I can't imagine someone squatting in a tent in a stranger's backyard. ..and the sex offender bit...are you serious? I would bet you money you come into personal contact with more UNCONVICT

Windows Media Player will not play DVD's alone. You must have a separate decoder installed--usually you can use the decoder's interface, or, most decoders will act as a plug-in and utilize the WMP interface that most folks are already used to. If the camera is recording direct to DVD it isn't a codec issue...it is an issue of satisfying WMP and Microsoft's crippling DRM--ulitimately requiring a third-party decoder to handle decryption.

Give OpenOffice a try. It is free, open source, and just as powerful. www.openoffice.org

Thanks for suggestions so far..I am about to start calling around.
