  1. My Dad was the most giving person I know. Back in the day he would pick up hitchhikers. Mama would always worry about him. Then later in life if someone asked for money he would give it to them until........he was on a trip and he was at a Burger place. There was a guy with bags like he was homeless asking for money just to eat. Daddy told him he would buy him a whopper meal. When they got to the register he wanted the most expensive thing on the menu. Daddy said no, I said I would get you a whopper meal and he did. Mama and Daddy went to sit down to eat there meal and they saw the guy
  2. Nuting so for. We have just got back from a 3 week camping trip to Kentucky and we are out of quick stuff to fix. We do have left over peach cobbler that my husband made in a dutch oven over charcoals yesterday....that might be supper.
  3. Yep. Life insurance goes to the beneficiary(s). I worked with Cobb County DPS Personnel for a while. Every year they would send out status change forms to the employees. This would give them the chance to change any status in their life including the beneficiary. Also when there was any status change in their life, (marriage, divorce, new child) they knew that they had 30 days to make the change. I saw several who didn't think this was important. It could mean that the ex would get all the insurance money just because the spouse didn't change the info. Beneficiary information on an ins
  4. Are you sure you want to know? LOL I call her that (not to her face) because she is pro Obama! LOL No bashing.....it's about family opinion only. Sorry Freebird20005 for the hi-jack.
  5. So true LR and Sadie....I would rather have my Daddy back than any of his money or possessions. We have 3 daughters in the family. Mama made my twin sister as the excutor because she is the oldest....duh by 9 minutes, but she is older. We should have no problems. The demo sister can be contrary, but we will see that she isn't. Daddy left everything to Mama, which was great with us. We hope to have her with us for a long time. She is in good health. It's just we (me and you LR) are at the age when family members are passing away and we need to make it so important that they
  6. Great info Lady Raider. Too bad me and you have experience in this because of the deaths of our Daddys. Best of luck to your friend, freebird20050.

  10. A friend of mine on fb said that a friend of hers was there and was helping. She is a nurse. She said there was a car off the road, not sure if there were two. Mother and a 5 year old. I'm not sure if the left in the helicopter or ambulance.
  11. I was on my home and there were ambulances at my church (Hickory Heights Baptist Church) at the corner of 61 and Dabbs Bridge. A helicopter landed in the parking lot. Any body have any info on what has happened. Thanks.

  16. I had a friend of mine die last week. He was cremated and his memorial service is next Saturday (not tomorrow). I've never been to a service where the body was not there in a coffin, so this will be a new experience for me.
  17. Okay, I'll admit it....yeah once I was very offended. It was years ago and most of those folks are not on here any more...some are still here. I was trying to help someone and all was going well until a certain group made me feel bad for wanting to help and then it went to bashing me etc. So now anything I do to help anyone here is done off the board. Since I changed that, all has been well. Never knew people could get bashed for helping others, but it happens.
  18. Woo Hoo, I'm the first one to post....but I don't need the tickets. It's a great thing you are doing.
  19. To me it's just another way to dispose of the body after death. Nothing religious or not religious about it to me. I'm not going to be cremated. All the arrangements/plot/marker have been paid for so there isn't much for the family to pay for me or my husband. My step son and DIL are going to be cremated. I just think it's a choice every person or family member of someone has to make. at Teatime! You made me laugh. Sorry.
  20. WOW GT, I'm so sorry this happened to you.
