  1. Major MEOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back in my day when I walked 6 miles to school, uphill both ways, in the snow, we had actual education, recess, parties for pretty much any and all holidays and we turned out pretty much OK. Well, of course, that was back in the day, so we didn't know any better. I remember when my son was in ASP, and they quit offering karate because some lovely parent complained that it was "mind control", as if public education or our great, and I do mean great "military" is not. Do they still allow the Pledge in the schools? That could be considered the same thing if
  2. Thanks, it was a serious question on my part and a good answer on yours. And on a semi-trivial point concerning all of this - and yes, I watched the Royal Wedding, but someone else brought up this point, and the more I think about it..................William & Kate decided to postpone their honeymoon because he wanted to go back to work on Monday. I'm now thinking that the British government was given some kind of inkling that something major was about to happen. Makes sense to me in hindsight.
  3. Why? I think so, along with the woman "human shield"..tough guys, no?
  4. Agreed, but I'm already afraid of retaliations because of this. We should be the ones who take the higher ground in this insanity. Remember how you felt when certain folks were celebrating re the twin towers? Anyway, this way cetain people have no "shrine, etc." to turn to - and they can't parade his body in the streets. I'm willing to bet that we have significant proof that he is the one that was killed. Why else would former President G.W. Bush come out with a statement, or Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld? Were they all also po'd about the results re Celebrity Apprentice? (Does any
  5. No, I never did, and I looked at every store I went to - Publix, Walmart, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Dollar Store, etc., etc., etc. Thanx for asking!
  6. Completely surrounded by old oaks, and the winds keep whipping up. I've got all the animals corralled (sp?) so that I can grab them up in a minute if I have to (including one female who was just spayed yesterday - she's still locked in the bathroom) We don't have a basement, but our plan has always been to close all doors to the bedrooms and hunker down in the hallway away from windows (which we have way too many of.) The last time we had a wind storm of this kind we had a big oak fall (not on the house, although close) and my husband tried to cut his leg off with the chainsaw doin
  7. I didn't mean to start this whole thread about religious people - it got started about salesmen, of course I don't really see the difference between the two types. Sorry. Edit that to say..........religious people knocking on my door, etc and sales people doing the same thing. I really didn't mean to offend anyone..............grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....I think you all know what I'm talking about.
  8. HAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You are too dang cute, and I guarantee I wasn't the one on the other side of the door!
  9. no proselitizing - LOL - any idea how many times I've tried to hide in my house from that?!? Any folks out there doing selling, preaching, etc..............unless you're a little kid trying to sell me cookies, etc., leave me alone!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I completely, COMPLETELY, understand people trying to make money in this current economic environment, but I am also on a Federal DO NOT CALL LIST. If I'm searching for you I'll find you - and please, please, please do not show up at my door and try to strong arm me in to something I obviously already have. Is there a "Federal Stay Off My Porch" list? If not, there should be. Rant over - back to making meatloaf and getting in the shower, LOL.
  11. I shall look for it tomorrow - thanks so much!
  12. Dang! Bless you! I shall look for that! (Granted, I'm not about to eat one, but I'll be excited to get one for him
  13. Just found what I was looking for (kind of) at Walgreens in New Hope. Very nice lady helped me there - she also remembered how crappy they actually were unless you're a lttle kid looking for a sugar fix, or my husband. They're about a third of the size that they used to be and it's a bag of mixed equally tasteless sugar candies, but that's OK! He'll be very excited! Now, if I can only find one of those giant chocolate eggs that remind me of a fruitcake encased in sugar covered in chococate......................Just give me chocolate - or deviled eggs, LOL. Anyway - if you're reading
  14. And this is crucial! Remember those cheap pastel colored sugar eggs that used to be so popular for Easter egg hunts, etc. They were pastel colored on the outside, may have had a little flavor, and then were nothing but sugar mixture on the inside? And no, I'm not talking Peeps. Anyway...............DH has been trying to find them for a couple of weeks now and hasn't been able to. Anyone know where to find them? He's also got a craving for the old fashioned chocolate covered large eggs that had nuts, etc. in them. I think the problem there is that he's looking at Cadbury, and I t
  15. Thanks so much for your response. As far as location, location, location when it comes to Paulding County I'm not quite sure what the ideal would be as far as a home is concerned, except for the fact that we're not in one of the subdivisions built enmass in the last 10-15 years, and we do have a decent amount of land (if 5 1/2 acres qualifies in that respect.) And I agree, there was some pretty shoddy work done on a lot of homes that I'm sure people at the time paid good money for. I can think of several S/D's, without naming names, that have warped siding, etc. and basically look like
  16. Just curious as to the average time on the market, current homes available, prices compared to what they were a few years ago, how those prices compare to tax bill prices, etc. OK, so questions with an "s" as opposed to question. Also, if you were in the market, what would your main focus re a house be? Kitchen/baths/lot size, etc. OK, numerous questions re trying to sell in Paulding Country right now. TIA
  17. Andy and Barney always wore the same clothes, but Aunt Bea was always there to work her asre off to make sure that Andy and Barney had clean clothes. Have you ever noticed that Andy often had his one pant leg in his boot leg? I don't think it was intentional, but apparently, Andy Griffith actually had issues with his legs - I don't think that's the reason - who knows. Can you tell that I know way too much about that dang show than anyone in their right mind should know? So, Aunt Bea, Alice and Hop Sing and I are getting back to what we're working on here. Thanks for playing! O
  18. One movie I love to watch over and over is The Brady Bunch movie. It's hysterical, that and the sequel. Everything he designs is the same design, and the girl who plays Marsha has got her down pat, and the fact that she's married to Ben Stiller in real life makes it that much more fun to watch, not to mention Ru Paul as Jan's guidance counselor, Tim Mathison, Jan and her "boyfriend" George Glass, etc., etc.
  19. I guess it's kind of like The Brady Bunch - Mike Brady was an architect and his family lived in a 3 bedroom house with kids (three boys and three girls) and he and his wife. Oh, and Alice who apparently lived in a room off the fridge. At least the girls had fashion sense. I just think that after 9+ years all that leather mixed with riding horses all day might become a little bit stinky, ya think? Why? Yep, and a pill for dinner - roast beef with all the fixings - "Meet George Jetson........................)
  20. OK, so the Cartrights live on the Ponderosa and are pretty much the richest family, who own and live within thousands and thousands of acres. Why do they all always wear the same clothes, and why is the show entitled Bonanza? I'm sure that this topic keeps a great many of you awake at night, as it does me (if you're over 45, which of course I'm not, I just see the reruns on TV Land). TIA
  21. For a 25 year old male. Any ideas besides candy?
  22. Let's hope they redecorate the food. After getting a "liquid" bean burrito from them a couple of years ago I quit eating there.
  23. Homemade chicken and dumplings, homemade slaw and homemade corn bread cooked in an ol' cast iron skillet. The dumplings will be the "slippery" kind, not the doughy biscuits on top. (More like thick noodles.) Now, let's see if I can actually get all this stuff finished, LOL! I quit cooking for a while, but now I'm so sick of fast food, no matter how good, I can't stand it!
  24. Are you sure? My guess is it wasn't you either! Why do people have to be so rude and think that their life is the stage and all others are just players in their life? (Touch of Shakespear there I think, LOL.)
