  1. I can't grasp your sales tax analogy. On the BOE and County M&O millages rates. It all boils down to whether or not you PAY MORE this year than last. Or, as in the case of this year, PAY LESS. As of now, no mention of a millage increase is on the table, but I would expect the county to have to do something.
  2. Average Paulding assessments for 2010 are decreasing 17.5% across the board. Unless the BOC increases the millage rate we WILL have a decrease in the tax bills this year an average of 17.5%. Mine dropped 25%.
  3. On your first paragraph, I have to disagree predicated on what your net tax bill was for one year over the previous. If the tax bill was higher than last year, then you had a tax increase even though the millage rate remained constant. On your 2nd paragraph where I bolded your statement, you need to go and review the BOC meetings from July/August during King Jerry's reign of tax increases. The BOC would do a tiny millage rollback every year, and pat each other on the backs for reducing the taxes. But, when you got your tax bill it had a substantial increase over the previous year. King
  4. Although the UK speaks English, there are many slang words which have totally different meanings depending on which side of the pond you are on. Don't ask for a napkin when dining there. It is a serviette. A napkin is the feminine pad. Don't threaten to bust your daughter's fanny for sassing you. Where it is the buttocks on this side of the pond, it is the female genitalia on the other side. Here, the gay bashers like to insult the fags. There, they smoke fags [cigarettes]. Going down a flight of steps with a low overhang will have a sign in the UK requesting that you "Mind you
  5. Listen carefully: By not rolling back the millage rate to offset the increase in property assesment, the tax bill went up. Every year. For the county M&O, the BOE, and then the school bond. The TAXES WENT UP EVERY YEAR. By not voting for a millage rate rollback, the BOE sat and approved a tax increase for every assesment which increased. Which to the best of my knowledge was every home until this year. What part of that is so difficult to understand ? If the tax bill went up over the previous year THEN WE HAD A TAX INCREASE.
  6. Stout's are a bit difficult to decipher. It appears he still has an outstanding loan he made to his campaign last winter for $30,000 and still is owed $23,000 rounded off. I would assume he is still expecting some substantial RTL money to come in.
  7. It was a good game, and a good finale to a great World Cups event.
  8. One hell of a finish to what was a pretty good game. A nail biter in the last overtime period. Congratulations to ESPANA!
  9. And I reckon that is no bias for the Repubs ? Maybe Kathy West got fed up and tired with the Paulding Republican crowd ? From where I sit, Avery is a pretty conservative Democrat, and even more so when compared to RINO Anivitarte. There are some who just can't sign that Oath to the Republican Party, especially the Paulding GOP. Talk about biased towards their "Chosen" candidates
  10. Nice brutally hot Sunday afternoon. Good part of the afternoon watching Spain & Netherland fight it out for the world cup, enjoying the wonders of modern air conditioning. So how about a nice Low Country Boil ? Kielbase, garlic, onion, crab.Shrimp stock, dry white wine, fresh potatoes, corn on the cob chunks, fresh green beans, Old Bay seasoning, some other herbs, and Wild Caught X-tra large Gulf Shrimp. Crusty baggette for sopping up the juice, salad, and some icy cold Pinto Grigio.
  11. Because by stating otherwise reverts back to good old King Jerry and his annual tax rollback of the millage rate. But wait, when you got your tax bill in the mail the BOE portion AND the County M&O would be 10% to 20% or more then what they were the previous year. Not increasing the millage rate, and not increasing the tax are 2 different items. The BOE should have rolled the millage rate back sufficiently so the net tax bills were no more than the previous year in order to be able to STATE they did not raise the taxes. Shame on you for hiding behind the semantics of millage rate i
  12. Pubby has several and mentions that on the news, but he has not posted them. I know he has Barnett's and Pownall's. Pubby, can you please post all you have ?
  13. Now Mike we have supported the same candidates many times in the past, even when both of us turned out to be wrong. I am working hard to try and help Gary Black [R] get elected as Agricultural Commissioner and for Mark Butler [R] as Labor Commissioner, along with several other statewide candidates. You can rest assured I will be voting a Republican primary ballot even though there are a couple of Dems I would like to see get in [Like Carol Porter as Lt Gov]. And I like Todd Pownall, David Barnett, and Tommie Graham as Commissioners. Jury is still out on District 19. I am waiting t
  14. I am assuming it is a butterflied whole loin ? Season it well, score the fat side with a knife in a checkboard pattern, and tie it with butcher's twine to the skewer. Start it out very, very hot, then turn the heat down on the grill [gas?] to medium low. I would guess an hour or more. Meat thermometer at 140 to 150F, although I tend to like mine medium rare at 135 or so. My rotisserie is a back mounted infared burner and does a wonderfull sear on it. Put a baking pan under it to catch the juices if yours has a back burner.
  15. Brunswick Stew Recipe courtesy of Perrenials Cook Book from the JuniorServices League of Gainesville, Ga. 1984 Yield 2 Gallons 4 Pounds of Roasted or smoked beef [brisket, chuck, shoulder, round, etc.] 2 Pounds of Roasted or smoked pork [boston butt, picnic, fresh ham, loins, etc] 1 5-6 pound hen, or 2 3+ pound Broiler chickens 2 16oz cans of tomatoes 4 Medium Onions [not vidalias] ½ CupCider Vinegar 2 Lemons, squeezed with rinds 1 16oz can Creamed Corn 4 Slices of white toast, crumbs 1 Cup of Catsup Sal
  16. You do the math. 6 new officers [2 per shift] dedicated only to the ICE program plus patrol car and other equipment. And just what do we get in return for putting those 6 officers out there looking for illegals ? Where does the funding come from to pay for them?
  17. I have to agree with the Sheriff. Why should we spend $300,000+ per year, to turn over 10-12 illegals a month to the Feds, half of which they will turn loose. As it goes now, they go in front of Judge Anderson who fines them$700+, which they pay. Until the Feds are prepared to deport every illegal arrested it would be a waste of time and money. I thought Jason was against wasteful BOC spending, yet he is endorsing this ?
  18. The meat packers used to hang the meats in a cooler for weeks. This is partially what derrmined choice-good-prime etc. The side of beef, or lamb would lose waterwieght, in the neighborhood of 10% or more. Hence, it weighed less and reduced the income when sold. Now really only prime is aged propertly. I rinse the blood off, pat dry, liberally dust with kosher salt [regular table sale will NOT work] and fresh ground pepper. I then put in on a rack on a rimmed baking pan where as little meat as possible touches the rack and put it in the garage fridge. Depending on the mass/size of the r
  19. How about asking Gary Gulledge what he thinks about the ICE involement ? Is Jason planning to dictate how the Sheriff's Department does their job ? I am 100% for shipping all illegals back to where they came from. But I am also a big believer in doing it through the proper channels. ICE will not do much at all to addressing this problem but what Anivitarte has proposed will cost us in Paulding $300.000 per year or more, and we get nothing back. As it stands now, for those hispanics who are arrested for traffice violations, etc., get a $700+ fine, which they pay, and community service work.
  20. Son asked if I could plan to feed his new girlfriend some lamb as best she knew she had never eaten any. Sooooooooo Boneless butterflied leg of lamb on the grill. Air dried for 4-5 days, then marinated in olive oil, redwine, garlic and some herbs. Home made pita breads cooked on a griddle on the grill [ain't no way I am cranking my ovens up in this heat] Tzeziki Sauce [special yogurt, cucumber, garlic] Greek Salad with garden tomatoes, hard salami, pepperocini, black olvies, boiled egg, artichoke hearts, feta cheese, fresh parsley, fresh basil and vidalia Fresh tiny green b
  21. RR Let's get back to Jason's "Press Release": Why doesn't Jason speak with Sheriff Gary Gulledge about participating in ICE, and find out why Gary is not thrilled with the idea ? How does Jason intend to fund our Sheriff's Department pulling officers off their beats so they can be dedicated ICE Deputies ? That is the officers, patrol cars, and all of the computer equipment ? How many illegals are actually arrested in Paulding per month, and what happens to the ones identified as illegals ? Is Jason planning to be a Post Commissioner who intends to micromanage the Sheriff's Dep
  22. I see political grandstanding from the Press Releases. A post commissioner is now deciding what programs the Sheriff's Department will, and will not participate in, with no answer as to how any new program will be funded while at the same time demanding the BOC cuts another $500,000 out of an already lean budget. I see a RINO, who was a Democrat on the Doraville city council and who registered to run as a Democrat for the State Senate 4 years ago. Let's see, that's 2 years AFTER the Republicans took over the Legislature. And he was a member of GEORGIA ASSOCIATION OF ELECTED LATINO O
  23. By chance, have you spoken with Gary Gulledge about this ? I did today. It is a non-event subject. There is no return on investment, and where is the investment money going to come from ? Your buddy Jason wants to cut the budget further. Why do you bother to post falsehoods, knowingly ?
  24. Ahhh? True! I spoke with Sheriff Gulledge today. Jason, and you as well, are out on a limb with this one. Please explain how we as tax payers will even come close to breaking even on the costs for keeping our Paulding County streets clean of possible illegals ? Jason wants to cut the budget by another $500,000 and wants to add unfunded officers to participate in ICE at the same time ?: Sounds like some grandstanding to me. Jason, come on here and tell us how you are going to fund this great plan. RR is not doing well with explaining it for you/
