Well what in the hell are they going to do otherwise ? If the Sheriff's department has to buy equipment out of their operating budget instead of SPLOST then the money has to come from somewhere ? Or do we start laying off our understaffed Sheriff's department like the teachers ? If PDOT and P&R have to replace a piece of equipment or buy gravel, and SPLOST is not renewed then where does the money come from ? We are not talking frills, bells and whistles. We are talking keeping officers on the street, fire stations with working trucks and a 911 center which can get these guys t

SG, The property off 120/Bulloch is already bought. To stop work on Burnt Hickory would turn it into a mudhole and be a waste of what has already been spent. Pretty much all the rest of P&R capital will be capital supplies and equipment to keep the gates open, the parking lots driveable and the sod playable,

Here is the Chamber link for the SPLOST information SPLOST The opening poster is totally wrong with the allocation of funds from the SPLOST PDOT will get 50% Public Safety will get 18.5% Parks and Rec will get 17.5% Cities of Hiram and Dallas will split the remaining 14% including a little over 1% to go into an economic development grant for Fiberoptics along Bill Carruth where the hospital is going, and around the airport area. PDOT is planning to complete the Hiram Parkway Bypass, taking it from 92 back to 278 at Cleburne Parkway as well as widening and realig

Take away the SPLOST on top of that and we can expect to have the viglantes [ithy and RR, along with Anivitarte] out there patroling out streets. There will be no funding for deputies or anything else.

Lets see if things have changed - Election poll

RR, You are printing lies, AGAIN. I am not now, nor ever have been a Democrat. I have, on occaision, voted for a Democrat, but I have never in any way, shape or means been associated with the Party. I also have never registered as a Republican, although I vote for far more Republicans than I do Democrats. Where in the hell do you get off identifying someone in writing on a public message board as being a member of an organization of which they are NOT? Is this something you and Ithy get off on ? Same with his builder association mis-information posted last week. And Hey, RR, j -

Well DUH! That must have been hard to determine since Surepip is a copyrighted logo and trade name registered to Moi! And Agro Environmental Systems, Inc. I have never "hidden" behind my Avatar. I even have it on an old license plate. And just what is YOUR agenda? I have to assume you are part of Ithy and RR's group since you just joined last month....just in time for the elections. Are you a paying member ? Now, are you going to step forward and identify yourself ? -
I have a large package of Quail soaking in a orange brine. But I think I shall wait till tomorrow for them and get some Kroger fried chicken whilst I am picking up some groceries before fetching MrsS home from the bus stop in Hiram. I am planning to wrap the quail in bacon and cook them on the rotisserie on the grill with wild rice and duck gravy.

God was having a good day when he created the tomato. And those first 5 or 10 you get the end of June are just plain down right SPECIAL! Freshly picked, washed, sliced, salt and pepper. Life is good

Mound dirt and mulch up around the base 5-6 inches and give it water and fertilizer and you might harvest a pound or so of potatoes if the soil around the stem is not rock hard. We had our first garden potatoes last night, and they were wonderful.

The budget David Austin has put on the table for 2010-2011 does not have an increase in the county taxes. BOE might raise their rate the little bit they have left and the bond rate could be adjusted still but it would be miniscule. Don't know where you got your information. Care to share ?

EXCUSE ME? And just whom did I slander ? Careful Animal....that goes both ways. And by the way, I would LOVE to move on....unfortunately 3 of the post commissioners refuse to let it move on and continue to pay out taxpayer money. Over $1million now.

OK My problem has never with the the home builders themselves, per se; but with the Developers. And my reference to the developers, in general, as the ROBBER BARON MEGA DEVELOPERS is very much rooted in our US history going back to the Carnegies, Rockefellers, Sinclairs, etc. They come in and take "Control", politically and financially. They manipulate the prices to suit them and using their own personal banks they churn up the land values with various schemes using very little cash of their own to purchase and develop the tracks. You will never see them bidding against each oth -
Sad but true, huh? Seems a shame some people just don't understand what Austin and company have already done. The tax digest is down what....?,.....17%, and we are all going to see tax rollbacks from last year of somewhere near that percentage, and he wants to cut county services even more ? It does not add up. I want to know a sheriff's deputy will be available when I need him. Cutting county services more will not help that situation at all.

My assessment down 25%. and my property tax will go down accordingly. For 2007 and 2008 they went up 25% each year. So HELL yes I am glad. My house is kind of unique and would still fetch a decent price should I decide to sell it, which I have no interest in doing. So should I be happy.....Yes. Hell, YES And so should anyone complaining about taxes going up. The markets will eventually come back and values will float to a level appropriate to what the house is worth. You are so worried about a .015 mill reduction as your buddy Jason has proposed which will do nothing but cut a few -
Thanks! I take that as a nice compliment. These were the first potatoes of the year, and that is always exciting even for us older people. It used to be a real trip with the kids to go the garden beds with withered-dead potatoe vines lying about, dig down, and come up with a shovel full of Golf ball/baseball size potatoes. And I admit, it is still a blast for us, although the weather the past month I think slowed down the final size some. 5 made enough for 4 servings, so what can I say ? The little Verts, Tenderette green beans we grow [thank you Sam Elrod for getting us seeds] are jus

Well thank your buddy King Jerry and company, along with all the local banks and RBMDs who decided to build so much more than what we could support. And yes, you are to celebrate the fact your property taxes will go down by whatever amount your assesment went down by. Money in your pocket. Weren't you looking for tax cuts ? Well take the one you got and stuff it, and smile all the while. Unless you are planning to cut and run and sell your place, you will save some bucks this year. That way you can afford to keep the SPLOST in place. And thank David Austin for the reduction as -
One of your fellow precinct captains no less. How many more on your team ?

GORGEOUS tomatoes, little tenderette green beans, fresh dug potatoes [like digging for gold nuggets] with fresh parsley, chives and sourcream, and about the last of the lettuce [thanks to the rather WARM weather of late].. And a 2" thick NY Strip, grilled EXTRA RARE. A nice Cote du Rhone with dinner to wash it all down, and another gin and tonic before hand. Life is good!

Have you received your new assesment yet ? We got ours yesterday and it went down 25%. Durning King Jerry's last 2 years ours was raised the MAX each year. Last year went down a little, this year a lot. Coincidence ? Bottom line, if your assessment went down [i think the average was 17%,] then your taxes should drop accordingly. -
Does Ithy have a twin brother AND an alter-ego ? What is pitiful is several of these "posters", are indeed precinct captains. The list is on the Paulding GOP website and in past posts, under their avatars, they bragged on how they were the precinct captain of this or that precinct. And this kind of activity, and dis-information [as per Ithy's posts last week and weekend] show why the Paulding GOP has sunk to the level it has. The Old Guard is still pulling the puppet strings and throwing their support to THEIR slate of candidates, and that is just plain wrong. I can only hope more

Why change your song and dance now ? You backing away from Anivitarte ? And Collett ? And Cochran ??

Lets see if things have changed - Election poll
surepip replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
If not in November, then for sure in the spring. But, if voted down now, I would assume David Austin and the BOC would have to address budget shortfalls, to be voted on by 2 lame duck and possibly more commissioners in August. I understand the Chamber is supposed to be putting together some kind of information presentation of exactly what this SPLOST would and would not be providing. -
Nah.....I believe he did the name change to distance himself from his cronies over at the Paulding GOP headquarters on p.com. But it is obvious he learned little from the Great Communicator with his lack of any kind of communication skills other than hurling insults and one liners while others are seeking some serious answers.

Correct! But when the Sheriff's department has to use their operating budget to put new cars on the road, or buy radios, or any other CAPITOL expenditures, then they will have to take that money from what would have been paying personnel. And the same goes for the other departments, including our 911 system which is sorely out of date. SPLOST only pays for capital expenses, but that supplements the operating budget sufficiently so the operating budget can pick up everything else. Take away the SPLOST, and you WILL see personnel cuts across the board. That one is simple mathemat
