We are in Panama City Beach right now and it is great! We are on the Thomas Drive end and had a quick rain shower this morning but didn't last long and then it was gorgeous.

There are lots of vacancies everywhere. I went thru vrbo.com There is not nearly the amount of traffic that there normally is and the lifeguards said it had been slow this year. I will send you a PM about this condo.

Of course I am no scientist but they way it was explained to us was: the closest that any ship had found any oil was 15 miles offshore from here and the tides & wind were blowing away from Panama City and had been all summer. I don't know about anything other than the turtles are still nesting here and all the little fish are still in the water but I guess if it gets closer that may change. I sure hope not cause it is absolutely gorgeous right now.

We are in Panama City right now and I have never seen the water and the beach this nice. No seaweed, no oil, no tar balls and the water is perfectly clear. It is not very crowded either. I guess a lot of people cancelled but I am glad that we didn't. The weather is great so if you have plans to go in the next couple of weeks, I would definitely do it. Unless there is a storm or something that comes in you should be fine. I talked with some of the BP workers that were walking up and down the beach just looking for tar balls etc. and the last word was that the tide/surf is working in favor

Just wanted to let everyone know that Heath flooring came this morning to install new carpeting in my bedrooms (I have hardwoods in all the other rooms) and they did a great job. If anyone needs carpet or any type of flooring I would highly recommend them to do the work. They sent 4 guys and they moved everything out of all the rooms, removed the old carpet, installed the new carpet and then moved all the furniture back. They did not break anything and were extremely careful with all our belongings and made sure that the furniture was exactly where we wanted it. I even shifted some of the

The recipes that I use calls for the same amount of Splenda as it would sugar. 1 cup Spenda = 1 cup sugar I use it alot since hubby is diabetic and loves his sweets!

The hawks come by every morning and evening to see if any of our pigeons are out. They have been lucky enough to get a couple of them but most of the time the pigeons get away. The crows alert us to a hawk in the area by all the squawking they do since they hate hawks. Some of these hawks are HUGE. They actually tried to get my little yorkie (4 lbs) too.

I am glad to hear that! We are heading down Saturday so maybe it will stay away...it would be a shame to see those beaches ruined. Which end of the beach did you stay on? We are gonna be on the Thomas Dr. end.

We usually stay at Emerald Isle or Calypso but this time we are gonna stay at Watercrest. They are much larger units than the ones we usually stay at. Have fun and maybe the water will calm down before you get there.

We are heading down next Saturday. Which end of the beach do you stay on? This time we are staying on Thomas Dr. but we usually stay on Front Beach Rd. right past Pier Park. Hope the oil stays away - it will be a shame if it gets on those gorgeous beaches!

I would pay off the debt since you are paying a higher rate of interest than you could earn by saving. Even money market accts are only paying 1.4% and I am sure your interest rate on debt is higher than that. Then I would start paying the amount that you are used to paying on debt to yourself and saving it.

My hubby has the Kindle and absolutely loves it! Don't know about the nook so I can't comment on it.

Just checked on him and he still has not woken up from the surgery yesterday. Does not look good.....

I have those "I forgot days" every day.

Please keep my cousin and her husband in your prayers. He had surgery for 8 hours yesterday, they removed 75% of his stomach, 80% of his spleen and his pancreas due to cancer. He is still in ICU. He has numerous other health problems on top of this, diabetes, had a stroke and definitely needs prayers for his recovery. Thanks all, we know that prayers work and they will appreciate them!

So happy to hear that he is going to be ok. I saw a little girl about 2-3 fall out of a buggy head first onto the floor in Target and it is a terrifying thing to see. I can only imagine how you felt. Glad he is ok and don't beat yourself up over this.
