Several schools had assemblies. Ours had vets visit and acknowledge staff members that served with a big display. Kids thought it was cool that their teacher, custodians, etc served our country

I'm curious about the wording of that district's policy and how much interpretation is allowed. If the policy is written in such a way that this falls under it, then there should be consequences for the child. If someone has gone outside of the policy with this suspension, then the school should be repremanded.

How long ago were your kids in school? It's 2013 and kids bringing guns to school is a real problem these days. I'd have more than a little issue with another kid pointing a gun-like device at my child.

Anyone not in education.....or even not in administration.....has no idea how often we have to distinguish between viable threats and "kids being kids." I, for one, err on the side of caution every time. I never want to be the one that has to say to a dead kid's parent that we knew this kid was making threats and ignored it. Personally, my kid isn't allowed to play anything that involves shooting or guns. Games, movies, toys, etc. I've given back gun like toys to the gifted. Thanks, but no thanks.

Maybe it has to do more with no one wanting to open a bar in these areas than policy. :shrug: I don't go to bar bars in Paulding or surrounding areas.....I'm too yuppie for that.
