No, I'm not implying that. Safety ALWAYS comes above all else.....but people were calling for snow days before this week even started....when there was a minute chance of snow. Every time the wind blows funny someone always wants school closed. No AC on buses? Close school. Water main break 2 counties away? Close school. Possom got hit crossing the road in front of an elem school? Close it, those kids don't need to see the carnage. Yet, these are the same people who will bitch and moan and groan about school rankings, AYP, or how ill-prepared their child was for the CRCT.

Stopped by and picked up 2 today-----if the kid will ever finish eating her dinner, we'll eat 'em----but, at the rate she's going, it looks like I'm going to have to wait

I'm sure it's different all over the place, but mine doesn't always close when schools close....however, the pre-K program there follows the school closing rules

That makes the 6th weather day this year.......just remember this when AYP reports come out this summer and your child's school is in the DNM category

all caught up I do, however, have 4 IEPs that need writing....each takes about 4-5 hours start to finish (including the meeting with parents)....

These people hoping for snow days are killing me! We get another week off in 5 weeks.....wait it out! No snow day!

NO SNOW DAYS!!! We JUST had 2 weeks off and we lost 5 curriculum days due to flooding. I already haver to fly through the curriculum and make up ton of days at the end of the year!

You would be suprised at the number of parents who DON'T have a plan in place for these sort of events. If I recall, the last "early dismissal" was about 6 years ago when that hurricane passed through and school dismissed early. (I remember it well---my first year teaching and my first natural disaster as an adult!)

I think that disabled parents CAN care for their children---my concern is the level of disability and the impact it has on a person's ability to care for a minor.
