I understand that some people have a legitimate need for pain meds, and they should be able to get them. There's something seriously wrong though, when someone who isn't in pain can walk into a clinic and get thousands of dollars worth of pain meds. I'm sick of seeing people put pain killers above their families.

That's my fav too!

We haven't yet decided if we're going to have our own Thanksgiving dinner at home or if we're going to go to the big family Thanksgiving get-together. If we do it at home, this will be the 1st time for me... we've always gone somewhere else for dinner. If we do it here, I'm planning on: Turkey Gravy Stuffing Cranberry sauce Mashed potatoes Broccoli casserole Rolls Chocolate pecan pie ...and maybe prime rib too! Appetizers... summer sausage, cheese & crackers and a pineapple cheese ball. I may add to the list if someone posts something that sounds really good.

Clay has been shady for awhile... I haven't really liked him from the start. He REALLY pissed me off this week though. Bad, bad man.

Did your parents divorce while you were living at home?
Chelle replied to Gipper Girl Rocks's topic in RECENT TOPICS
My parents divorced when I was 8. My Dad remarried shortly after, to a witch of a woman. She was really sweet before they got married. She and her daughter were quite mean to me after the marriage. They divorced when I was about 28 and he has since remarried a woman that seems pretty nice. I don't know her very well... they live 600 miles away. My Mom remarried when I was about 12. He (step-dad) ran the household like the military and by age 13, I was rebelling hard. They divorced when I was about 23. My Mom never remarried, but has been dating a really cool fella for the past 3.5 year -
Family time is just so important. We have dinner together 5 nights a week, Sunday breakfast and game night. I know how quickly the time passes... before we know it, they'll be grown up with families of their own. I've already had one grow up and move out... thankfully he and his girlfriend enjoy coming over and hanging with the family every now and then, although not quite as often as I'd like.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far! Looking into the games I'm not familiar with. We always have a blast when we play games as a family. Last night we played Pictionary and I think all of us laughed until it hurt. I think Whoonu is my favorite. If you haven't played it yet, you should check it out.

For Christmas, I'd like to get more games for the fam to play together. Our current favorites are Whoonu, Apples to Apples & Scattergories... all GREAT games! (our kids that live at home are 14 & 11) What are some of your favorite games to play with your family?

Bad idea. If it turned out to be 15 year olds, you would be manufacturing and distributing child p0rn.

Love it! Off the top of my head... I'm sure you could come up with something for Sugar Magnolia, Sugaree, Blues for Allah and/or Stella Blue.

INCANDESENT LIGHT BULBS.......IF THE GOVERNMENT IS INVOLVED
Chelle replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The "Energy-Saving" light-bulbs are a rip off. They take just as much effort to screw in as the ordinary ones. -
Mmmmm... baked cheese ravioli in extra beefy sauce with sauteed peppers and onions that simmered all day long. Plus garlic bread & salad.

Thanks. That's great advice. It would have helped this time, but in times passed, even if the mailbox would have been 2 feet back from where it is now, it still would have been hit. We've lived here for 16 years and have had our mailbox hit with a vehicle 3 times, but twice in less than a year... probably someone on the phone, not paying attention... or one of these idiots that frequently pass by, that are turned around in their seat, cussing at their kids, not watching the road. All the other damage has been intentional... mailbox baseball, target practice with bottles, etc. I think

Thanks CreativeOne. I know there are a lot worse things happening out there. It just gets frustrating to have to keep buying mailboxes. Maybe this post will prompt contact from the person who hit it... who knows.

Oh, Holly Springs Rd. area in Yorkville.

***If someone you know comes home today with new damage to their passenger side mirror, please ask them if they hit a mailbox today... then ask them if they "made right." They didn't.*** I heard two hits (one was the mailbox being hit, the other was it hitting the ground) and the dogs inside started barking. I went out to look and our shiny dent-free mailbox was in the driveway all scraped up and dented. Last time someone took down the whole thing, post and all. I believe that this time, it was hit with someone's side mirror, judging where most of the damage is. Once again, the person didn

So Obama wants to spend money on upgrading schools...
Chelle replied to jazzygirl's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Did you miss the part where I said "OR?" My main point... a GOOD teacher would not have taken the supplies home. Period. -

Chelle replied to jazzygirl's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I just wanted to add... I SO respect the teachers that go ABOVE and BEYOND, by spending their own hard earned money for supplies. It truly shows that they have their students' best interests in mind. I guess that's why I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that there are teachers who would take school property home, rather than find a classroom that could use it. And the excuse? It was sent to the wrong classroom. Such a SORRY excuse. -

A good teacher would have found a way to incorporate these supplies into the curriculum... or at the very least, get the supplies to a teacher who could, rather than take them home. The intended purpose of these supplies was to benefit students... not to go home with a teacher, where the supplies will likely just sit in a closet. The main point here is... FIND students that will benefit from the supplies. I know many classrooms in OUR county could have used them. -

This should have been looked at, not as a fail for kindergarten classrooms, but as a gain for the school or even the county, if the school couldn't use the supplies. I'm sure there were plenty classrooms in the county that could have benefited from these supplies... Rather than thinking that kindergarten couldn't use these, so we'll just divide them up and take them home. Shame on whoever received these... it wouldn't have taken much effort to get them to a classroom full of kids who could have used them. The failure wasn't in the delivery of supplies... the failure was in the recipients. -
Pork chop casserole, homemade mashed potatoes, stuffing & green beans. (the casserole sauce makes an awesome topping for the potatoes & green beans, so I make the casserole extra saucy)
