  1. It runs around $90 a month. Includes doctor visit and any medication and vitamins. No special foods really. Just cutting out the breads and rice and pasta and such.
  2. Vitkins? I am on it. It has worked pretty well. 45 lbs so far. I feel better than I have in years and I have more energy. The hardest part is trying to eat on the run. I have to really slow down and remember to eat! The more I eat, the more I lose. When I slow down eating, I stop losing.
  3. Obviously, he is great role model. Just what all parents hope their children strive to be. Mean, vengeful, violent, and a pothead. Good grief! It is time that people stop encouraging this lack of morality. We need to really examine if this is someone truly worthy of the adulation he receives. Not just him, but a lot of those out there that are worshiped and continue to be disgusting people in reality. Sadly, it isn't just in sports. It is in music, and theater, and politics, and so on, and so on. If there were any real consequences to any actions nowadays, people might think twice before
  4. Prayers sent during this difficult time.
  5. I think Pandora is a lot like Slacker. I just set it up on the computer before, so I stuck with it. The alarm thingy is an app called AppAlarmPro. You can get the AppAlarmLite for free and it does it, but to make it do the other stuff, it costs 99 cents for the Pro version. And I just discovered imusic. It is free and you can download MP3s for free on it. I haven't downloaded any yet, but I plan to check it out. I added a Bubble Level on it, a Metal Detector, and the Compass, plus a ton of other ones. I add and delete all the time. Just want to find the ones that do what I want. It also h
  6. I've had mine for about 2 weeks now. I am learning all the really cool apps on it. I found a new one that I love! I can set the alarm to open with my Pandora radio station. No beeping alarms or anything like that. Plus you can get free real song ringtones on it. And the Google maps is amazing! I still see a few bumps and bruises for them to work through, but overall, I LOVE IT!
  7. How horrible! Prayers sent out to your family.
  8. I tried the alarm thing. (http://bedwettingstore.com/category_alarms.htm) My son slept through it. I gave it away and it worked great for my friend with her daughter. But still, the best thing I did was layering the bed so I didn't have to deal with changing a wet bed in the middle of the night, nor did he crawl back in a wet bed.
  9. I ended up taking mine to the doctor for it. It was something that had ran through the family, but it seemed to impact the boys more. We started him on a pill and it stopped the first day. We only needed to use it a few months and his body adjusted. Before then, we did a lot creative things. Like I layered the bed with a layer of plastic sheet and a set of sheets, and another plastic sheet and set of sheets. I did about 3 layers. In the middle of the night, I simply had to peel off the top layer and he had a clean bed to crawl back into. Much easier! And to spend the night with a friend,
  10. I was voting, but then had to stop. You threw in the diary on the last one. A diary is personal feelings and thoughts. It is a place for venting and imagining. It is not evidence like phone calls and emails. So, that throws the whole answer off. Basically, I have checked my husband's phone calls, but that is because I am trying to see who we call most to add to the friends list. And I am the only one who knows how to check his email, so I have to do it. If I thought he were cheating, heck yeah I would research it. I research everything else I need to know more about, so why not that too.
  11. Paulding does have it. http://paulding.gov/WebInquiry/default.asp
  12. All great ideas! Thanks guys! Keep them coming.
  13. Real rapid cycling to THAT level is extremely rare. Rapid cycling means they have 4 mood swings within a 12 month period, not a 12 hour period. And it usually occurs years into the disorder. Mainly happens to adult women, but can happen in other populations. The rate of occurrence of rapid cycling is about 5-15% of the Bipolar population. As for the extreme cycling, it is much rarer.
  14. I am thinking it will be on average 5 women and their children, but I guess that will depend on whether it is a 3 month program or longer program. If it is longer, it may house up to 10 women and their children. Most only have the one infant. I will forward whatever we can get. As for building in a place, it would have to be cost effective. If the bathrooms weren't easy to install and such, it might be a problem to renovate some buildings. Plus it would eat away at any money available to provide the resources needed, too. I will forward whatever you guys come up with and we will see. The ducks
  15. That would be great! It just needs to be big enough to house the women and children, and have offices for the staff to provide the social services needed. AND, if it comes through, it could mean jobs for several people in the area. It would have to be staffed 24/7 for safety and security reasons. I hope to get it going in the next 6 months or so. I will be on a volunteer basis until it is really going well. That means I won't be able to give it all my attention right away. I have to have some income in the meantime.
  16. This is about the fourth time they have contacted me. I guess it is time for me to take hold of it and run with it. Send up the prayers! If we get this thing going, a lot of women will be getting on their feet and learning to support themselves and their children. Some of these women are homeless because they were kicked out of their homes when they became pregnant. Some come from abusive relationships. And some lost their jobs and couldn't keep their housing. It is all kinds of reasons, but the one thing they all have in common is a desire to make life better and safer for their babies.
  17. I have been contacted by someone looking to open a shelter in the area for homeless mothers. This would be a step down program for women who have been in a shelter for homeless pregnant women. The women have to be interviewed and pass background checks and drug screens to be in the program, but when the baby is 3 months old, they have to leave. If they do not have housing, a job, and childcare in place, DFCS is contacted and a report is made as they are discharged. By having a step down program, then they can have some support in case the job and housing takes a little long and give them a lit
  18. I have definitely worked with children who have Bipolar, but I have worked with many more who have the diagnosis and it is not accurate. It drives me nuts! Bipolar is not a child pitching fits sometimes, nor is it the normal teenage mood swings. Real bipolar is a lot more severe and lasts more than 1/2 a day between mood swings. Real bipolar swings are not a daily occurrence, they are weeks or months at a time. Sadly though, many children (and adults!) think that the diagnosis of Bipolar means they have a license to act out and pitch fits. After all, they are diagnosed as having mood swin
  19. I think 8yo is WAY too early to diagnose most children with anything more than developmental type disorders. Bipolar has become the Diagnosis Du Jour. And it makes me angry to see it thrown out so easily. Same with other diagnoses such as ODD. And the ADHD diagnosis, while age appropriate, is not the answer to every child with a lot of energy. You have to really examine the behavior across various settings. behavioral disorders need to be managed and therapy included, but such a diagnosis in a child that young is usually inappropriate. It concerns me that they are tossing it out as though it w
  20. I am so sorry to hear this. My thoughts are with you and your family today.
  21. Sending prayers. Our family went through a lot of losses in a fairly short period of time a few years back. My mom dealt with it and dealt with it. Finally, the straw that broke the camel's back was losing her cat. With me being a counselor, I saw it and knew it, but I also knew she needed to talk to someone besides me about all of this. She got a little counseling and the counselor told her exactly what I did, but of course, she believed them! They told her it wasn't losing the cat. It was just one more loss after so many and it was too much for anyone to deal with. She was better after
