  1. I guess mediocre research is better than nothing. I know I researched many, many plans. And I tried many, many plans. What I learned is that each person's body is different, and what works for one may not work for another. I still say find the one that works best for you and your body. Make sure you visit your doctor for checkups and followups. And my doctors are those sickeningly healthy ones that do the marathons and mountain climbing thing. Smoking is not a major vice I see them having. They prefer the healthy things from all the evidence I have seen. They sure do encourage adding move
  2. It looks like both go to the exact same thing. One is geared for treatment, one for information. But both are the same thing.
  3. I definitely have my veggies. I skip the breads, rice, noodles, potatoes, corn, etc., but I eat lots of green beans, salads, broccoli, and such. I also avoid the sugary stuff.
  4. The Mayo Clinic says the diet that works for you is the best one. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/weight-loss/NU00616 My doctors say it is safe. They approve of it. Low carb works for me. It may not for you. But, if you feel the need to attack someone who chooses to use a diet different than yours, maybe you need to find a different diet. One that makes you less grumpy!
  5. My mother gains weight and feels crappy on a low carb diet. She loves things like the cabbage soup diet. I, on the other hand, get extremely sick and weak on those diets and the low carb diet makes me feel great! And I have tons more energy on it than on any other diet I have ever tried. I have lost right at 50 lbs so far. I feel wonderful! And I have talked with my medical doctor about my diet plan thoroughly. He has absolutely no problem with it. My doctor (not a diet doctor, but my regular doctor) says this diet does work. As a matter of fact, THREE of the doctors in the same practice
  6. I like the novelty of snow here. We used to get more snow than we do now. What I hate is the nasty, wet, slushy crud. It freezes up and makes a real mess. And THAT is dangerous. Sadly, that is probably what we will really get, if anything substantial at all.
  7. Very true about the water. I stopped drinking as much as I had been and my weight loss froze. I keep trying to remember the water. It makes all the difference. Not just fluids, but WATER.
  8. Snowing on Dabbs Bridge Road!
  9. I lived in that area too! The subdivision right next to North Cobb High School. I was in 2nd grade at the time. We lost a ton of trees in our yard, and my little Pekingnese disappeared for a while. She was 'rescued' by some lady when the weather started up and she saw her near the school. My mom and dad placed ads and she eventually called because her husband made her. I remember all those downed trees and the ice hanging off of them.
  10. Ah! I saw it on the myfoxatlanta website, then it was gone when I looked later.
  11. I am curious about one thing. Why is Paulding county government offices closed and the schools are not? Do they think the kids can drive better in the snow and ice than the adults? Just wondering. I know it probably won't happen at all, but this seems idiotic to me.
  12. I am so sorry to hear this. I will continue to pray for this family during the times to come.

Have you talked to him today? Is he okay?

I have had him on my mind all day, too. I really hope he is getting the help he needs. I want him to know a lot of people do care about what happens to him, even if we don't know his face, we care about him as a person. I know my heart would break if he hurt himself.
  15. I don't recommend Highland Rivers. Not trying to sound bitter, but they are in a constant state of flux and the rules change on a whim. The higher ups don't care about the patient. I can send you in the right direction, but it depends on the age of the client, and if it is for counseling, psychological evaluation, or psychiatric medications. Tanner does seem to be pretty consistent. I think they have a decent outpatient program, as well.
  16. You can probably call one of the mobile home moving companies and ask. There are several in Georgia.
  17. Are you just wanting to move it, or move it to somewhere in Paulding? If it is just the moving it, a trucking/moving company could answer it.
  18. From what I remember reading a while back, you have to have at least 5 acres, and it has to be at least a double-wide. They have some exceptions, but they are hard to get. But that was a while back. It may be tougher now.
  19. I see you are still signed on here. Please let us know you have found someone to talk to. You can see people really care. We want to know you are okay. I am really worried. I can't relax until I know you are getting some help. Please let me know you are still okay.
  20. I don't have a Yahoo Messenger. Please call the crisis line number I gave you or 911. I truly want you to get some help with this. There is a light at the end of this tunnel. I promise. As tough as things are now, they will turn around. If you do something permanent, you will miss all the amazing things that are to come. Life is a roller coaster. Ups and downs. As low as it can be, it will always turn around and be thrilling and wonderful again. And if you have children, this will absolutely tear them apart. No matter what your relationship is with them, it will hurt them. Plus, it create
  21. SERIOUSLY, CALL 911! They will get you connected to someone immediately. Hang on. I have another number you can call. DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT CONTACTING SOMEONE FIRST. There are people out there who can help. Trust me. 1 800 715 4225 Georgia Crisis Line
  22. We've had some tough times. I lost my job, like so many other people. We've had several illnesses in our family, and a few deaths. So, yes, I can find the difficulty. But, I can also find the good. My son found a great job. My daughter is doing amazing in college. My husband's business, though down, has survived this mess so far. I re-discovered some wonderful old friends (thanks to Facebook!). I made some unbelievable new friends. We opened our hearts and our home to people who needed us. I have friends who have had new babies this year. I became more creative than I have been able to do
