I don't deny them a car but I don't grant them greater rights to pollute my air and ruin my food supply. If you're going to increase the number of pollution emitters at least make some attempt to control the emissions and for 3 grand they're going to build a motor that emits a lot for it's size.

Amazon has already seen the writting on the wall and is in the process of building several large regional distribution centers across the US. Since they will be losing some of the price advantage they want to try and decrease their delivery time to one day hence the need for the new buildings.

Are you suggesting that the only time that safety and negative environmental impact is important is when you can afford to care about it? That our worldwide food and energy supplies are not as important as Nissan making a profit and some guy in Indonesia giving up his bike? If that's the case then let'em sell these Datsuns here and we can go back to the days when smog hung over our cities like a blanket. At least with my car there was some attempt to control emissions and maximize mileage.

I read this morning that Nissan is planning to reintroduce the Datsun name to take advantage of the "auto industry's fastest-growing category—emerging-market countries". The entry level model will cost between $3-5K with the top model going for 8. To do this they'll strip the vehicle of things like automatic transmissions and airbags, according to the article, and I bet at that price they won't include computer controlled fuel systems, catalytic converters, or anything else to prevent emissions. Bottom line is it's good business for Nissan but with more cars on the road it'll drive up the cost

As long as there is someone that "wants fries with that" there will be heart disease, obesity, etc plus the auto accidents/injuries that occur during the drive to and from one of those grease traps. I wouldn't worry about loss of jobs in the health care industry.

Keep in mind what the long term plan is here, 92 south from the intersection with these bypasses will be 6 lanes and 4 lanes to Nebo. gahwy92.com

Dusty's! Local flavor kinda place. It's west of Margaritaville on the right as you head out Front Beach Road. I've heard about Hunts too and it's in downtown Panama City. I can tell you next week if Shuckums is still there, we're headed that way Friday PM.

It's always easier to shoot the messenger than destroy the message. Was it not Bush that ordered the apprehension or death of Bin Laden after 9/11? It happened under Obamas watch but I believe there is a reason for that. If Bush got Bin Laden in the first month or year or two years his political opponents would have said "Well done, bring the troops home", leaving Bin Ladens organization intact. Kinda like if Hitler was killed in 1937, the Nazi's would just stick Himmler or Goring in there and WWII would have happened anyway. Killing Bin Laden in 2002 wouldn't have destroyed al qaeda.

People Taking the GORE...Let's Get VOCAL!

There's a lot of accidents at this intersection with the different lanes, turning traffic and crossing traffic and those vinyl lane poles would stop it. But there is a down side, left turning traffic at certain times of the day would be sitting in the southbound 92 lane preventing that traffic from moving. But then people would cut into the dedicated right turn lane to head south and the problem would still be there. 92 at 278 is way too narrow for the traffic load it now handles and the entire intersection needs additional lanes. Anyone know if there are plans for a northside bypass like -
Cameras are a victim of digital technology, which cuts out the sale of film and development, and internet sales, which can sell cameras and lenes cheaper than someone that's got the overhead of a store.

2013, maybe spring, based on the progress that can be seen from the street. Looks like it'll cross Arnold, Pool, Angham and Rosedale, not sure what they'll do with Lula, I'd guess 4 lights plus one at each end.

Tired of being cut off on Hwy 92 at Bill Carruth
Spucketts replied to baseballmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The crosswalk signs at Pine Valley and 92 are quite comical, there's one on the far left that has the don't cross sign and an arrow says to cross at the right. On the right there is the same sign but it points left. That leaves a pedestrian, if ever there should be one, standing in the middle of the intersection crossing into on coming traffic. -
Have you ever wondered why it's called "Blue Ribbon Beer"

Back in the day Pabst made Red, White & Blue. Could get a 24 can case of 16 oz'ers for 9 bucks..... -
Comes down to the finer points of the law, if they have no learners permit they can't be fined for riding a passenger. If someone was stopped for say speeding and they had no license an officer could ticket them for endangerment but I think it would be a difficult charge to convict since it's a greater charge. The fact that someone didn't bother to obtain the proper license says that they probably had no intention of following any applicable laws on a bike. Then again I've known guys that have ridden for years without a CM stamp. There was a story on the news two nights ago about

Tired of being cut off on Hwy 92 at Bill Carruth

I never understood those "right turn yield" signs, there was one at 92 and Pine Valley north bound and people still think its there even though the sign's been gone for a year and a half. When I learned to drive I was taught that since turning right wasn't crossing traffic you had right-of-way. Turning left, since it crossed traffic, had to wait till the intersection was clear. But with that right turn yield sign, if someone was turning left you had to yield unless the car behind you was going straight in which case you could turn right. Now you're approaching an intersection looking in your m -

That intersection will change once the east side bypass is finished and the rest of Bill Carruth is 4-laned. Looks like the poles for new lights are sitting on the east side of 92 awaiting installation. -
Is the consumer class shrinking or has it just shifted to include populations in India, China and similar while abandoning the middle class here?

It's a sad statement but laws like this seem to only be considered or enforced when the body bag is being zipped up. -
When you consider the power to weight ratio of these bikes, some of which will do over 180MPH off the showroom floor, there's nothing in the police inventory that will keep up. The only thing they can catch them with is a camera and/or radio but many of these bikes have their license plates mounted up under the rear fender so they can't be seen from the side and barely from the rear. I hear some jurisdictions, if they can approach a stopped bike, will grab the key so the rider can't take off.

There is no age limit for passengers on this type or any type of motorcycle. There are age restrictions connected to the type of motorcycle license, no passengers on a learners permit. The big problem in the motorcycling community is how many riders out there just don't bother to get a motorcycle license in the first place. If thats the case here the rider, in my opinion, should be locked up for reckless endangerment.

What difference does it make who did it? Apply an appropriate punishment regardless of what the motivation was be it tradition, rivalry, stupidity, etc. No deals, no pleas. Problem is they've now established presidence in court and if these are new violators their attorneys will argue for the same punishment. Every school I've worked in has a lot of exterior lighting and a bunch of cameras, should be easy to catch the perps.

I read on line that they've broken ground on a new Walmart to be located next to the Target at Pier Park. That should ease the crowds at the other Wallymart. Should know more in a few weeks as we are headed there for a late vacation.
