It certainly depends on the person doesn't it. I have been to my dad's grave once since he passed, I do not feel a great need to visit there. I am sure I will visit again, but have no plans. Others I know visit their loved ones resting place at least once a year and often more. I say whatever makes you feel better or closer or brings you the most comfort, then go for it. Neither is right or wrong in my opinion.

A lot of this type of thing went on in the 1800's and even up to the early part of the 1900's. The US, like the rest of the world, did not treat it's mentally ill very well, unless it was a private sanatorium, even then it could be iffy.
